well. so does flux and maybe tower---actually i know what you mean and i think you may have interpreted it wrong---a 3rd level creature with a speed of 13 is just too good to be true---even faster than angels! plus i would't get flies if i could build wyverns on day one in most cases.

well, I play without conflux usually.
and upgrading gargoyles day 1 is maybe not the best move hehe
but I wouldn't hesitate building serpent flies day 1 rather than wyverns. I like fast scouts hehe (hard to give a fly to every scout day 2, when they are cruising around already). And almost all wyvern related things can wait until day 2. Two of them won't help you that much anyways (maybe against lots of archers or something, but this will have to wait another day then).
yes dragon flies are cool, often the 'typical' day 8 upgrade. Split into several stacks, they allow you to take out shooters very effectively. and increase your map speed of course.

Haile is right, the key to attacking a map, especially random when you are fortress are flies. I build them day 1 religiously, unless I got lucky with a hero who brought 4 flies. Not only fast scouts but they are brilliant blockers. If you are castle, you are not going to hit a horde of archers til at least day 5 (griffons arent often built week1), but 6 flies can safely block those archers till your gnolls make it in and chop em up.
This and the relative inexpensive cost of creatures and buildings, plus hives scattered around, make fortress very cool.

he can't even cast his own spell---too lil knowledge. plus his spell SUCKS anyway.

I think you´re doing hard to stand a simple joke on you, do ya? That was no insult from Xarfax, like he mentioned. But i liked that little "wordgame" from him very much.

I´m a nOOb in online playing and get surely beaten from all the above-average players here (coz i´m average ), but even I could show you how GOOD fortress is...if played well..
