Hey all, IRh has a new exorcise at his site....mine. I recreated a fight from a real game in a smaller size for downloading.

It's 350 titans and 350 AAs attacking an AI castle with 2250 black dragons. You have 60 59 60 32 stats and the AI has 73 67 74 28 stats inside a fully built dungeon. You must win with no losses except catapult. If you want to try it with no mistakes take your knowledge skill from 32 down to 28.

IRh:

The site says it should be played on hard. I did my play-testing with the default 100%. I just replayed it at 130-200% and it actually ends up being easier because the AI does something stupid every time (I would almost call it a bug). So it must be played at the default 100% level. And yea, its OK to use my HC avatar for your site.

Well, I guess you aren't doing it right. But no hints yet....except the one on the sign post. But it sounds like you you haven't lasted long enough to need that hint yet.

Yea, I just did it with 3 SP left and I even made one mistake. If you've survived more than two rounds at least you're starting with the right idea. If you want to make sure the map on your web site can be won I can email a full solution or hints if you want.

This one was nice binabik!

SPOILERS..

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Well, first ofcourse get titans all the way down and left(prolly you can get them up and left) and place archangels one tile above them, also to the left.

Now, cast force field. AI slows you and his dragons destroy catapult.

Next turn cast anti magic on archies. AI imploded titans.

Do not shoot dragons with titans yet! Wait some time.

Again force field, another implosion.

Now anti magic on titans. AI summons fire elementals. Do not shoot them with titans!! Let archies wait and kill them one by one...one or two stack will most likely get to archies, 10 or so will get dead.

Wait till he get out of spell points, and cast dispell on titans. Not on archies, maybe he has enough spell points to blind them. AI will cast weakness and maybe magic arrow until he gets all out of sp, maybe 2 or 3.

Ofcourse, from starting fight remember to cast force field every second turn.

Now ressurect titans with archangels, and cast all good spells on them. Bless, bloodlust(once when you got out of shots to finish drags), fortune, precision, slayer and prayer...after this start shooting those dragons. I had 26k damage. Haste would be nice too.

Now just shooting, casting force field and ressurection on archies.

When I got out of shots, 137 dragons were left, though got luck just once I think. With more luck quicker they die.

And that was it, attacked with archies then (should've with titans first-would have much more sp at the end), and got them back into force field sanctuary to ressurect them.

Got 70 spell points at the end.

Thanks for this, now get us more!

Run out of spell points? Did you use 32 knowledge or 28?

How about 27? Haven't tried it myself, but it might be possible depending on what the AI does. I'm pretty sure you can't consistantly win with 27 and no losses. With 28 you should be able to do it consistantly.

Email your solution so I can verify there's no alternate solutions from the one I used.

Our posts crossed Nebuka.

Your first post is almost the way I did it. I didn't cast fortune. Does fortune still work when carrying the Spirit of oppression?

Did the sign post help?

I never tired frenzy on the AA, but I should have. With such a long fight and starting out with double the knowledge for both sides I was really burned out play testing to get the right numbers. I assumed there would be too much retal for frenzy. With 64K damage you could finish off the dragons with one hit.

26K damage sounds right, but I had 180 dragons I think.

OK, new rule. No frenzy. IRh, you can edit it out of the spell book if you want.

Frenzy works only when they're 200 or so dragons alive...not a factor.

Fortune works, and it works really nice.

This last time had 4 or so lucks, and got dragons to 30 something before I casted frenzy on archies.

Btw, first couple of times I shooted right away. Needless to say I got dead each time, but had diff. tactic then as well. As for sign, didn't hit it until I saw you talking about it here.

Commando had one scenario. Pretty nice.

Quote:
An interesting battle requiring a little forethought...

Human: Dessa, stats all 99, all battle spells available except for berserk.
Secondary skills (all expert level): logistics, archery, earth magic, water magic, air magic, offence, tactics, wisdom.
Artifacts: Angelic Alliance, Cape of Velocity, Ring of the Wayfarer, Golden Bow, Bowstring of Unicorn's Mane, Spirit of Oppression, Hourglass of Evil Hour, Ammo Cart.
Army: 292 Archangels, 847 Ancients, 84 Azures, 1292 Archdevils, 697 Titans, 784 Chaos Hydrae, 2417 Mighties.

Comp: Sir Mullich (in castle), stats all 99, expert cure and clone (preset, hence no wisdom required).
Secondary skills (all expert level): water magic, armourer, offence, archery, tactics, luck, leadership, intelligence.
Artifacts: Armour of the Damned, Cape of Velocity, Ring of the Wayfarer, Necklace of Swiftness, Shackles of War, Clover of Fortune, Still Eye of the Dragon, Bow of the Sharpshooter, Ammo Cart, Ballista.
Army: 7200 Enchanters, 2400 Archangels, 1200 Faerie Dragons, 900 Rust Dragons, 600 Azures.

Figure it out, it's not too hard - no casualties allowed, obviously

I remember beating it before, will try it again. This is the original thread.

Commando's battle sounds interesting. I'll have to give it a try. I assume the 6 AI stacks are not split and in the order listed.

It would be nice to get those hydras inside the walls where the AI is close together. Blinding the Faeries would be good. That many will do serious spell damage and they are fairly easy to kill later with melee. I would think the AAs and azures would be next priority. Don't want the AAs doing too much resurecting and don't want to freeze too often from azures. If I remember right the rust effects can be dispelled. If possible get the AI dragons to kill/rust their own units. Need to keep at least one azure alive throughout to get first turn and freeze AI units. Both sides with azures makes it hard to plan anything.

Like most fights with odds highly against you, it takes a few tries to learn what NOT to do.

I beat Commando's map with no losses. He was right, it wasn't really that hard. The AI did two stupid things; didn't cast cure and stayed inside the castle while I blinded all but azures. Those gorgans did some SERIOUS azure killing.  I think about 150 deadly stare deaths per attack.

Updates: only Commando's exercise - I made it, and a SIMPLE Mr.Iks's new puzzle.

About Commando's: don't you think it's a bit random in the beginning? Kangaroos may reflect Blind!
I coouldn;t win w/o losses yet.

Yea, the beginning was somewhat random.

I just wrote a solution, but realized I shouldn't post spoilers yet. I think I had a couple hundred spell points left so it should still be beatable even with some random AI moves.
