What type of NEW fixed maps would you like to see?

This is for those who enjoy playing a fixed map...whether its occasionally or always. Anyways, what type of maps would you like to see?

Open maps? Closed?

How about new concepts? like I made 1 where both players get Earth Tome, Shackles and Recanters to start...should make things interesting, but to throw in a twist there are no wells on the map and only your main town will refill spellpoints. So you gotta use your spells wisely when clearing the map.

Anyways..throw out some ideas and Ill work them into maps.

(Btw, Don't make this into a Random vs Fixed map debate)

What I would find highly interesting is closed maps with level 8-10 dragons, both to be hired from dwellings and to be fought in larger numbers on the map (guarding the way to the dwellings or next zones). The most enjoyable H3 game I ever played was on Monster Island, and I found it somewhat sad that there never appeared a second map of that kind. Monster Island is better suited for single player and hot-seat, but maybe itīs possible to make a tournament map that has a similar atmosphere.

I think the ultimate challenge for a mapmaker would be balanced asymmetrie. But thatīs a hard thing to do, and Iīm a bit doubtful that many players would like it.

oki, this was a j/k, dun take it serious plz.

imo there needs to be more skill maps, ie: less dwellings on map that can decide the out come on day 1 wk 1 lmao, like topes!
yeah yeah, i know every1 likes to do topes, but 1 black vs 5 black is game breaker. more strategy maps, thou this usually means some sort of open maps as these tend not to be the clean bottom/top/tope spank middle type maps lol.

but then again, every1 should just play random maps and be done with it lol

Nore maps like "Myth and Legend", an original heroes 3 3do map, xl with under, massive amounts of things to do, nearly every ounce of terrain containing something to do

But this is tough and so time consuming, but you asked jb@st@rd

i prefer closed maps like bob2 and giant war. lots to do and lots of possibilities. what about a map without haste/slow and without heroes with that starting spells ?

yup I think all efforts in creating a new map would be in vain most probably. If you'd take one of the popular maps and add a new twist to it, people might play it.

I personally would like to see BoB3, with some additional options.

Would there be more motivation on either your side or the player side if I told ya I'd be willing to run a blind map tourney with what ya make? I know you and I talked about that a little bit over zone friends last week but the offer is still there. I haven't worked out anything yet but if you people are interested, I will, hehe.

dunno about a blind map tourney

Soon ima release 5-6 maps, and based on their popularity, its how my motivation to create more will be

Here are the basics on what I created.

M - Closed Map, Its actually Giant War 1.5. Improvements over the original, with some extras.

XL - Open Map (Used it as the final map in the bastards blind map tourney, but never released it to the public) Its a map where you will have a long war with someone, with many hero battles.

M - Closed Map, similar to showdown, but also different.

M - Closed Map, you get earth tome, shackles, and recanters to start, and no wells on the map.

M - Closed Map, seperated by water, but you can reach Opp from underground if you do not wanna travel the water. Has many options for you, so most won't play it the same way.

M - Open Map, Undecided on how its exactly going to be, but I want to keep it a skill based map as much as possible.

this is true, but still many random players will play new or good maps.

ever tried making a fixed map from a random generated template ??

is interesting but needs careful balancing, but what i like most about this, is that it is not a mirror image map and there is not many of them.

I'd like to see some maps where people are really close to each other constantly, but there are enough extra towns to escape and rush weaknesses to stay alive. This gives a new style of play.

Or maybe a battle over resources. Something like hotspot except the mines are spread through out the map. So both players have to control a huge territory to keep an income. Maybe this can be more stressed by not having city halls be enabled.

If maps have a simple twist such as this it makes the maps more unique. I don't know if some things like this can't be created on randoms. But if anyone is going to play fixed maps again, they must have something that randoms can't give other than predictability.

Maybe you could edit in computer controlled necropolises to regenerate shrouds over the entire map. I also noticed that maps never seem to have the shroud of darkness. If those were placed at specific spots throughout the map, this could create some confusion. I don't know much about randoms, but I doubt they can do something like this. Can specific obscure structures be edited into the maps with randoms?

I would be willing to help make maps like this.

I have an idea for a new map. There is a map for above ground, then an identical map below it for underground. One player is above ground, one is below ground. They are both on islands at the center of the map. There are four continents at the corners of the map each containing a town and a subterrainian gate. Then there are four more islands one between each of the continents, north, south, east, and west. These are smaller and will have something I have not yet decided upon. Basically each player will be able to expand to one or two continents, relying off troops other than the homeland. Also unlike most other fixed maps. Expansion is no longer linear, but outward in all directions, making each game different.

btw, would you take a look at a couple of my maps, JB239? I'm wondering if you have any suggestions, since your maps have been such successes in the past. I don't care what you say, if they suck or if it requires a drastic change to the maps style. e.g. too many towns or not enough resources.

a good ole none relic map   open like bfh   and a classic closed map would be refreshing.   ban all specialty heroes but leave all the spells in except fly and dd.

Well considering your hopes Zzud I think somethang long & dif would be compelling.
A play style that is just a bit dif then the ole get the tope & beat the garrison etc.

Make a remix of...

Free for all from the original CD.
Make only two selectable possitions, Make towns selectables, remove 7th dwellings and remove relics, balance it and you have one excellent multi-town map

Sorry Zud..wont be any H4 maps from me unless...

There was some new patch that fixed data transfers for H4. I doubt it will happen tho...Its my big beef with not enjoying H4.

I really can't wait until Im able to get back to makin maps and posting some of them. But Wednesday will come soon enough.
