Lands of Chaos
Hello guys and girls! Rychen Kuma, Acu and myself, sat down the other night and did some brain storming and came up with this tournament called Lands of Chaos, I am posting the link to the basic rules so y'all can post your opinions on it and what you think should be chaged or what not. ..geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez ...starting one sub after another wont fix any problems ...it will make it even worse.
Get clans STARTED AND WORKING (!!!!) first ...make advertising for clans instead ..stop investing your precious time in half things ..put all efforts into ONE thing and make it work.
...geeeeeeeeeeez ..its unbelievable.

...clans was always a big part of TOH ...its so obvious that most players which keep on playing this game cant wait to see clans starting ...hell why not making clans work instead of testing and discussing new stuff that will realized as "soon" as 3DO realized things in the past.
...and please dont tell me im only into old stuff ..with clans uve got a working system AND with new bonuses u can create something new. You should discuss THIS with rychenroller as im pretty sure that rychen will be able to create a nice, balanced and thrilling bonus system for clans.
Btw. are there any news about clans? ..or is this idea also fired up and left alone?? Havent heard for weeks about this very good idea.
"We can make this or that" will lead to nothing...MAKE IT ..make one sub tourney complete and working ..thats it..nothing more. Then u can think about another new tourney.

Well Raven has tried over and over again to get input for players on clans and they never seem to be intrested in em. FYI I do NOT have anything to do with clans anyways.....
Clands will NOT be open till the new season. This thread is for input on something Rychen Kuma Acu and I worked on not about clans so lets keep it that way.....

end this season in 2 weeks.
Notify the players it will end in two weeks.
then start a new season with clans starting after a couple of weeks.
Do as xar says not waste alot of time and effort on something that everyone will just see as a timekiller.
Kuma&rychen are both vets, get them to work out bonuses/arts&such for clans.
Get acu to do the updates on news page because no one understands him anyway so he can bla bla there and ppl think somethings are happening all the time.
You (kitten) help out ravyn instead with what she possibly can need help with.
This IMO would be the best way without doubt to handle this situation and to get the most out of the people involved.

have ta agree with what the other 2 girls just said in general  , i mean, the new toruney idea looks like it has potential but the big question is WHEN r u purpossing to start it ? i dont see the sense in trying to do it in this toh season as we to close to the end of it, would b better to decide (or has it been decided to leave as is?) when this season ends and gets the new season up and running with these new things.

Well, when I first started reading this post I found myself agreeing 100% with the sentiments offered by xarfax and Stiven. I think some peeps were looking forward to clans and wanted to see that start. However, for whatever reason the clans thing seems to of fizzled out, or has been put on hold or whatever (dunno really). So now there is a new tourney idea being offered, and it's not hard to understand why someone might think that this will die soon as well only to be replaced by yet another idea. This does seem to be the pattern.
However, that being said, I have to admit that after clicking the link provided I found this new tourney idea very intriguing lol. I like what I see here and think this seems like a fine idea for a tournament. I was also pleasantly suprised by how nice the page looked lol. I am used to pages at toh being a complete mess like the tournaments and map masters pages for example, but this looked really sharp. I especially liked the design of the box at the bottom which shows the player's records.
In the end wether a tourney will be any good or not depends more on other things than just the idea or "rules" it has. But i did want to say to the peeps who came up with this that I think you all did a nice job.

... you are 100% right picardo ...the idea is good, the graphics are fine and it has potential...
..BUT ...first i thing TOH needs to have ONE thing started. Starting over and over again leeds to players thinking they are waisting their time.
Get one big subtourney started. Divisions wont work cause u would need to much players (that really play their games). So best offer are clans!! As soon as u start a nice clan tournament with a nice bonus system ull see activity rise again...AND..when peeps see that the peeps really care for this sub they will also join other subtourney.
So clan will be the "eye-catcher" as it was in seasons before ...as there are no divisions maybe even more. If there are some rules, which would balance the strengh of a clan can become it will be able to get even more players into TOH.
A total new subtourney cant do this, simply cause off the bad experience which players had with some former "fast-thrown-on-the-market"-subtourney, which did end in a waste of time.
Maybe u can get the impression that i only demand and do nothing, but i already offered raven to make a balanced and inspiring bonus system, that might get players into clans. Well at least it wouldve been a paper to work with. But as it wasnt wanted, i didnt do it.
Asking for my experience i say that i make some small subtourney from time to time for the german league (at the moment i make a little battlefest tourney..made it in group fights so that it is not bracked or that the one wins with the most games played which sucked in toh subtourney). Well of course this is in a smaller frame then TOH...
Keep nice clans coming...prepare for this alltogether to make it an success... dont split forces ..TOH needs ONE working subtourney ..another dead-end subtourney wouldnt be accepted by players.

We discussed this with Kitten, and we both agreed, that you could not run both Clans and Lands of chaos...My thinking on it was clans seemed to be going nowhere atm so we brainstormed. This is to gauge peoples reactions, not open the thing tomorrow, so dont friggin overreact. The trick is to keep the activity level of the tourney high by offering the people something they want. Do they want LoC? do they want clans? Do they want them both? Lets hear what you want, but go easy on the criticism as it is just an idea.
Like I said, we aint opening it tomorrow

I also agree about channelling energies into one tourney. You are right, clans is a proven tourney with proven results (even though personally ive never really been into it) LoC is something a little different. We need to get Ravyn involved in this as well, see what she thinks. As it would be useless if she doesnt like the idea, or is set on running clans. Because clans is looking to become rankl based, it sort of wont work to run it at the start of the season...who is a baron/lord/legionairre? do you take rankings from last season?
Myabe LoC could be a good interim tourney for 3 months or so, while the ranks get organized for clans. But its all up to you people, and I would like to see more people post their thoughts, no matter how small.

Can u see any land owner picking Tower as their town, for fixed or random? Sort of limiting if all randoms are castle/rampart.

maybe better to say blocked wood/ore week 1 to avoid false restarts cuz ppl dont scout properly.
"If land X challenges land Y, and land X loses, Y can re-challenge land X, and land Y gets to pick town and hero type for both land X and Y."
I like this rule, makes u think twice b4 u challenge someone. There is a consequence for losing an offensive battle.
"If you have a tie in your land war there will be a tie breaker match to determine the winning land owners, the defeated land owners can still have there free re-challenge."
Not sure how this works, can u give an example. X->Y, and Y loses, there is only 1 battle right? If X->Y and X loses, Y gets an easy rechallenge, but the territory being fought for is different. Initial battle on Y territory, then 2nd battle on X territory. So a 3rd battle is on which territory? Just needs more explanation.

clans and divisions never seemed to run that well, too easy to fill members with inactive players and bog down the whole tourney. Everyone wants to join a clan/tribe/division etc but only a handful have any commitment to its activities. I'm not one of the organisers, but it seems to me that with a land based tourney, players who r not serious will soon be eliminated.

Well when i was in divisions we had a great time and most games played.on the clans or loc thingy,which looks good too me as well,im not sure it will have the same lure as clans but one thing i am sure of is,we need something and need it quickly,no matter what it is,if this is the up too the moment idea for a tourny then do it,people can complain about it later bye the time this is over maybe you will have clans sorted and ready too go,i as a player just meander around with not much too do game wise and my long turns bore poor xarfax too death lol sorry bud,ehe bp

Just a littel add-on for the random rules.
Restart if: no road or high level start hero.
As for this tourney ... it sounds great to me .. but so does Clans.

Idea maybe bring back the hero tournemnt? it ran great i think 1 hero no taverns? But back on topic i think mah/toh needs one or the other. I agree with Stiven end the season and start something. Bad thing about LoC is not everyone in same time zone so if game are scheduled might be hard for some 2 play. but then again i didnt see if games where set or free.

It's like that with any tourney you play Atilla you cant change that 7 what Xarfax & Stephanie said does make sense, having 2 tournies runiing is tough because it's hard to concentrate on 2 main tournies at one time.
The question is, when we do ernd the season, which tourney will we decide to open first, which one would be more dedicated.
I guess we should let the players decide & dedications means working on the details not straying.
Personally I am in Mandis shoes & no nothing about clans but I am down with either tourney.
Clans would take alot of players.
LOC even the noobs will have a chance to play vets & all.

well LoC was NOT going to be ran when clans was I already knew that It was just an Idea being tossed out to show players MaH is trying to make them good tournaments! Nuff said
