A Couple of Quick Questions
Ok, I know that this is probably on the board, but I'm just too lazy to look. Is there a WOG manual out there? I'd love to know what some of the structures are for. As it is, I use the save-try-reload if I don't like the results method.
Second, and this is probably covered in the manual, should it exist, is just what good is Mithril? So far all I've been able to do is convert the land in front of a castle to special tile (evil cloud, etc.) Can it be used elsewhere? Otherwhise, why do I need 100 bars or so that I manage to dredge up in my travels?
I'm absolutely in love with the game as it certainly breaths new life into some of my favorite H3 maps. (I'm certainly not getting the same features twice in a row!)
Oh, I guess there was a 3rd question after all. Is the captain (or whatever they're calling your companion that you buy for your hero) unique for each castle type? I mean, will a knight/monk always get a paladin?
Anyway, for the WOG team, keep up the great work! The game definitely rocks.

When you install WoG, there is a manual that comes with it that tells you about the new creatures, options and such. Unfortunatly it hasn't been updated since 3.56

Look in your main Heroes3 folder and you'll find a few files like patch355.txt or readme357f.txt. These list most of the new features added in the last few patches.
In addition, there's an HTML file listing most of the monsters in the game and some other features named h3wog.htm.
Also, if you click on the WoG Options button in the scenario selection screen and check out the Objects and Artifacts page, right clicking on any of them gives you a description (same with all other options too). For more details, open the scripts themselves (located in the Heroes3\Data\s folder) and read the introductory text that most of them include).
And finally, if you visit this page:
http://www.strategyplanet.com/homm/camelot/wog/woginfo.htm
and scroll down, you'll find two links, one for an up to date listing of creatures complete with pictures, and one for an update to date listing of Commanders and Commander artifacts (also with pictures).
Also, the WoG team hopes to work on a FAQ (or several FAQs) for inclusion in 3.58 or sooner.

Right-click on the Kingdom Overview button and you'll get the option to view a Mithril price list that tells how youc an spend it.

Yes, Knights and Clerics always get Paladins. So there's one Commander for each of the nine types of castle.

Thanks. It's always gratifying to hear from a happy WoG player.

Also on my page that Fnord gave a link to has the dwellings for each creature and what is guarding them and how many + other info. When I get more time I plan to add more on the info page. Any suggestions from you all that I need to add would be nice and will try to add them all if needed

I went up on the link and it's killer. All the monsters, etc.
If you get a chance, a list of the artifacts and what they do now (I'm finding out one at a time. My personal favorite so far has to be the Targ of the Rampaging Ogre where at the beginning of the week he decides he wants it back and sends a bunch of ogres after the hero that's weilding it.)
Also I notice that some of the lesser used skills now have a use. (Eagle eye lets you see learn a new spell, whether you have seen it in use or not, Mysticism lets you know ahead of time what the next week will bring, First Aid lets you raise part of your army.) I think this was a cool addition so that nothing is truly useless any more.
Even some of the artifacts that are generally considered "junk" have a value. The emblem of cognizance lets you find out that your army is hoarding money at the start of the week, etc.
One thing I'd like to see is a list of the structures and what they do. (I've used summoning stones, the altar of transformation, and several others. I really like the fact that the market of time has finally been put to use and lets you get rid of one of your skills that you may have no use for any more, or were forced into by a hobson's choice (Do I take eagle eye, or mysticism. Hmm, thanks HOMM!)lol)
Enough of the ramblings. While I can't wait for H5 to make it's appearance, I'm more than satisfied by WOG right now. Or, as I explained it to my wife this morning, HOMM 3.5.

Well if you love Homm 3.5 now wait till 3.58 is released we got tons more new things coming And the artifacts and buildings was next on my project list. Which do you all want next? Arties or Buildings? Both will take a while but will do the most popular one. You all decide which of the 2 is next or is there another you want 1st?

Well Gan, I think Artifacts would be better here, because things are changing so quickly for the next update. Artifacts are pretty well set as to the amount of production you would have to do. We don't have all the objects yet for 3.58, like dwellings and the such. There's also no telling how many more objects may be included. But as far as posting on your site, there is, pretty much, a set number of artifacts for now as I don't see anything new yet or heard if anything new is being worked on.

I believe Uncle JR was mostly talking about the Artifacts that are enhanced by Donald's Artifact Boost script. So there's those plus the 3 actual WoG artifacts (Magic Wand, Monster's Power and Gold Tower Arrow).
With have at least two new artifacts from Kitten for possible inclusion in 3.58 plus Arstahd's artifact boosting script that differs from Donald's a bit so things probably will be changing there as much as dwellings.

Why would we need a blank artifact? Oh... I get it. It's like those blank adventure map objects .

Quote: I'm dying for a blank artifact!
Any particular type or would any blank artifact do?
In case you didn't know, some of the existing Heroes artifacts can be disabled so they're effectively "blank". All the combo artifacts, for instance can be used this way by changing the value that says they're a combo artifact, and any artifact that gives spells, such as a tome, scroll, or the Spellbinder's Hat, can likewise be changed to blank.
Further, you can fairly easily script any weapon, armor, helmet or other object that gives a straight stat bonus and remove the bonus by applying a negative bonus when it's equipped, then adding it back when the artifact is unequipped. I think the +/- adjustment will happen so fast that the stat won't even appear to change.
Also, if you don't use Commanders, you can use them as new blank Hero artifacts instead.
I realize that none of these ideas is quite the same as some NEW blank artifacts that nobody's seen before, and I agree they would be nice to have if possible, but for a custom map, changing the name and description of an existing artifact and disabling its regular abilities (for those ones that can be disabled), is almost as good.
