WoG map contest?
Ok I have been asked by a few different people to have a WoG map contest on my site. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to set it up and what to do let me know since this will be something new to me  Also if the contest does happen do I have a list of testers and voters or do I just let all vote? Any suggestions would be nice since all I want is to get some really great wog maps for all to play.

Please don't limit mapmakers by giving us a title such as "Shifting Sands" or whatever it was last time.

actually I would probably just have categories like 1v1 2v2 3 way ffa and stuff like that.

I wouldn't mind a map making competition, if we did have one (maybe for a prize) some people might acually put more effort and maps will start poring in

Well that is hard to say. Since WoG is being changed and sometimes old ERM commands are changed to new versions. So is a yes and no answer. IF the maps have scripts in them that don't work with 3.58 then a WoG tester won't be able to test the maps. So just have to try and see if there are any errors.

I'm using the test 3.58 again, and now I'm creating maps that should be compatible with both 3.57f and the test 3.58.
I have testers that have both to make sure that the maps work on both.

I think that same problem is in 3.57f. Cybernetic's Aussie Outback map has error messages that were in 3.57f (the patch, not allinon1, not 3.57 original).

Good news. The WoG map contest for map makers will be worked on and maybe finished tonight. Kitten has decided to help me with it and since it is both our days off we might just get it ready  Will post here when it is open. But please testers and team members. If you submit a map make sure it works with 3.57f before sending it in. Only a few of us have 3.58 so if there are errors in it for the 3.57f testers it WILL hurt your maps chances. This contest WILL be held on current PUBLIC release of WoG as it should be.

Sweet, is the contest going to be spilt into catergories eg. Best Story, Best Multi, Best Single, etc.

Just best map wins, if its this one, I ain't entering 'cause ByteBandit's maps will kick my maps ass easily.
Are there going to prizes or not
Are the public going to vote or the judges

To be honest about everything, I'm NOT really a mapmaker. The maps I do are drawn by Skakik. Him and I have decided to become partners because I begged him if I could have the rights to Gelu vs Dracon. It was a map project I wanted to do since before I joined WoG. He let me have the map and thus I began scripting it. ( I probably have the largest collection of WoG scripts anywhere.) After it was completed, I sent him the map. He LOVED it! He then wrote me, and asked if we could team up and do more maps together.
I was stunned and felt extremely lucky!!
So far, we have released 2 maps as of this posting, and we have a 3rd about to be released. I have 2 more that he sent as a package a while back, and those will be scripted as time goes by.
ANd, we are in the process of making our first campaign together. He has finished the first map, and will send me the campaign as soon as he's done and then I will begin scripting it.
If all goes well, we may do campaigns and just do single maps every now and then.
In the campaign we will be doing, there will be storylines, as many of those who've played our maps know, there really is'nt much storyline, simply because we felt it was'nt needed too much. But we feel in campaigns...it is.
So....It's not so much my mapsm as it is OUR maps.

Wow, what a story. A few years later, you would of made enough maps, you can make a novel out of your history, impressive

Well in the map contest it will be a MAP contest not a single map person one I should say. Which map is number 1 and who made it. If your map wins and you and 20 people made it they get credit and all. As for categories and stuff I want to have best in each category and then put all those against each other and have a best over all map. Shoot I might even have a best campeign contest BTW if WoG tem members maps are allowed in it I WILL NOT be 1 of the judges to make sure it is a clean and fair tournament. I also ask that none of the WoG team members be a judge to remove any doubt that it is a fair tournamnet.

To be honest with you Gan, Skakik and I are'nt even considering putting up a map in the map contest. Sorry about that. We are so busy getting a campaign together and getting these maps out for others to play. Our maps don't really "qualify" as a contest map, anyway. And also, since I'm on the WoG team, I've kinda taken myself out of the competition for your contest. And I don't want to be a judge either, because, I don't want to "grade" a map. We just like making maps that everyone will play and enjoy. We like the idea of a contest, and the finalists should enjoy sweet success for quite a while. I wish success for your contest, Gan. Any help I can be for it, you and Kitten just let me know...
