Reform at the Imperial Prison!

The Emperor has become aware that numerous heroes had been escaping his prison against his expressed command to allow only three heroes to be released.  He has now made it impossible for more than 3 prisoners to be released.

"Imperial Prison"  version 1.3 is now available for downloading at Laelth's HOMMaps, vandea.com/homm/maps.html.  It should also be posted to the ToH Maps Page fairly soon.

Here's a look at the new mini-map:

Note that the southwest wall of the prison had to be expanded outwards to fix the map's passability errors.  It took a lot of work to fix this thing, but I think it's working properly now.

And here's what's changed:

Repaired a number of passability errors, some of which were crucial.  Further lengthened red's route to the unlinked town in the SW corner of the map to more closely equal the length of teal's trip to the town in the NE corner.  Removed three more artifacts:  Demonary, Journeyman's Notebook, and Master's Spellbook.

Take heed, fellow mapmakers.  "Master's Spellbook" contains both "mass cancellation" and "town gate."  "Apprentice's Handbook" contains "Summon Ship."  If you want to ban those spells, you'd better ban those books.

Enjoy!

-Laelth

Edit:Laelth- Correction: It's the "Apprentice's Handbook" (one of my favorite arties) and not the "Journeyman's Notebook" that contains "Summon Ship."

come on already, you're gonna ban every spell there is ? after banning some of the "most powerful", others will seem unstoppable and so on, and we're gonna end up in fighting our first day level 1's for ultimate glory, w/o heroes of course, let the game take its course.

spells have counterspells, most of them anyway, and to link this thread to the sanctuary one, i just lost to teacher with sanctuary and 2 crusaders, so there are many ways to fight it !!!!

Nothing is unstoppable if you play your best.

yep arangar.we building on it being new 'mapmaking groove' , banning those.
just tired of themmostly, also gives magicians some faster advanement to reaching being strong(as archers-barbs alrdy have),by making them advance faster if altars linked around.ALso, thay get more convinient advancement offers.

hmm ...

i'm not sure i understand your objection, valky.  some maps require that certain spells be banned in order for them to work correctly.  often times it's necessary to remove both town gate and summon ship in order to prevent rushes or maintain map balance.  in a game on version 1.3 of lisp, for example, i got the master's spellbook and had an order mage that could cast town gate long before i cleared all the oracles and dug up the scroll.  that threw off the game balance tremendously.  (btw, i think jinx has addressed this problem in the latest version.)  the only spell that i try to ban on all my maps now is "mass cancel" which is, truly, a stupid spell.  it should be 5th lvl.  the idea that a hero with expert death magic can wipe out all your heroes' immortality potions with one spell is absurd.  that spell immobilizes your whole hero group for a full round (because they need to consume more potions).  a low-level hero with expert death magic shouldn't be able to do that, imho.

and i'm with insa on the tertiary magic skills.  since he and i are trying to perfect the medium-length map (i.e. neither lisp nor dog days), we've found it necessary to accelerate the advancement of the magic heroes in order to compete with the more rapid advancement of the might heroes.  besides, most of the tertiary magic skills are stupid.

lalet is taking everything to the limit , the legal one, to be more specific.
Being a relative matter,I guess that real limit is 2-3 steps farer than you thought so that you didn't still win .
Lalet ,push it again, press the pedal to the metal, harder, stronger than ever, and you'll bring the victory near.
Be merciless with those jackals!  Give them the cold shower they deserve !

have a nice day

P.S. You must appreciate, i said 2-3 steps, not 200 meaning that you CAN do it in a short time, i DO believe that!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, teach!

Since I was playing nature, I had the foresight to put Chaos Magic on my pathfinder after she gained GM path.  Now she's one level away from GM Chaos Magic.  I'll get "Disintegrate" pretty soon, but Mike's got 3 heroes with GM life magic, and all of them have "Divine Intervention."  I'll have to kill all three of those heroes in one round, otherwise he'll just resurrect all his heroes at once.  It's gonna be tough, but with 40 Phoenixes, 18 Mantises, and 1 disintegrate spell, I think I can do it.

Here's hoping, anyway.
