HOMM 4 Expansion

No ides if this is already done.

Anyway, I was just wondering what people wanted in the HOMM 4 Expansion (assuming its made).

New creatures, artifacts, maps, campaigns, heroes, or anything else you can think of???

Multiplayer (I have a feeling it'll be the same as with Civilization 3 where MP was (will be) only included in the ExP.)

I like the idea of a HOMM4 expansion. What I would like to see is the removal of the attackable gate, and the return of siege weapons. Also, the Life Town needs one change. Ballistea shouldn't be a unit. They should be replaced by something like a Maceman. Ballistea should be a siege weapon. Catapults, Trebuchets, Rams and Ballistea should be availible only at a Siege Workshop (Except for the Trebuchet, which should have to be built in a town) Siege weapons would be powerful, but would slow down your army by 25% for each one in your army. There should be a maximum of 2 siege weapons in your army, and would count as artifacts (But a ram would count as a unit, and a Trebuchet would take up both siege weapon slots). Siege weapons (Except the ballista) would attack the gate and walls with bonuses that apply only to certain siege weapons (Bonus attack v.s. gates for Ram, walls for catapults, etc.) There should also be 2 more opposed towns (Neutral Evil and Neutral Good). I'm not sure what the classes or skill would be (There would need to be at least 4 more skill sets), or what the cretures would be. 2 more schools of magic would also need to be invented. However, it could be possible for those to not be schools of magic, and instead disciplines of psionic (Phychic) power.

I would like to have:

1. a set of all creatures made up from the plastic and shape up like if they fighting with each  other.
2. Artys - 3D pictures.
3. All maps printed on the shinny glance paper with the subjects sticking out on the surface: like mountains etc
4. hehe dont need a campaign.
5. And of course the set of the plastic body armor and the sward for multyplayer game.

P.S. A horse will be good too.

More ideas

HALT, you read my mind about the horse thing. You should be able to buy a horse for heroes. It would increse speed and movement, and the horse would prvid an additional +80 HP and would provide a second attack (With its hoaves) and the first strike ability.

I also have an idea for a new campaign: Archibald Ironfist somehow survived the Reckoning and has set out to rally up all of the former citizens of Enroth. He proves that he is indeed Archibald Ironfist by showing the Garb of Anduran. Archibald then disasembles and reassembles the Garb. An enchantment was placed on the Garb after it was captured by the Kingdom of Enroth, enabling only one of the Ironfist Line to assemble and disasemble the Garb. Even though the peasentry knows very well that Archibald was a wrong do-er, and nearly usurped the throne during the Succession Wars, but Archibald proved this wrong by showing the exact paper that the royal seer signed, enabling him to be King of Enroth. After a wizard conducted tests on the paper to in sur that the signatures were not foraged, the public soon agreed that Archibald was the King of New Enroth.

Interesting idea saruman.

But isn't it always customery for the good guy to win?

I don't know how people would view the villan being the hero... not that i would mind.

i also wouldn't mind getting back the conflux castle.. they were nice, and fun to play with...

That was just the introduction to the campaign. There are actually 2 campaigns. One where Archibald tries to seize control over New Enroth (A small, rapidly expanding country south of Paleadra) and one where the leader of New Enroth (Name not yet decided) tries to stop him. Please note that whichever campaign is chosen, Archibald always wins (A nice change from the Knights ALWAYS winning, don't you think?). After you've beaten one of those 2 campaigns, there are another two that become availible: One where Archibald tries to seize control of Paleadra, and one where Paleadra's forces attempt to resist the attacks. This campaign is sort of like the Succession Wars campaigns: Your decision as to what campaign you choose effect the outcome.

I like that.

I remember playing the succession wars campaigns, and i really enjoyed the function that let you decide which campaign you play next...

totally need that in the expansion...

i think more skills are needed too.. you can only do so much with 9 skills... even if there are 48 or something different classes...

You're right, only having 9 skill sets can really get boring after a while. If 3DO takes my siege weapons idea, at least 1 more skill set will be needed (Ballistics), with a subskill for each siege weapon.

I like the ballistics idea it would definitely add different dimensions to the game that would cause players to think twice about what skills to choose.

Another skill I think could be interesting would be a magic one, but this skill isn't like the others in that it isn't one that allows the hero to cast a certain type of spell..

It would have Sorcery as the primary which would increase the strength of all spells at its most basic level, and as the hero advances through the levels other bonuses such as a hero being allowed to cast two spells per round, and the hero being able to cast a spell first no matter what the speed of any other creature might be - but this could prove to be a very unfair advantage.

Secondary skills would include something like:

Intellect for spell points.

Manipulation which would allow heroes to draw on the strength of artifacts and increase their strength, ie, a suit of armour that gives a hero 25 melee and ranged defense would have the defense increase by maybe 10% for each level.

And... I can't think of a name, but it would allow the hero to do greater damage on creatures or heroes with magic resistance. At grandmaster level, this skill could even enable a hero to cast spells on creatures or heroes with 100% magic resistance, such as dragons.

Excellent idea. This would indeed provide an unfair advantage, so I came up with some requirements for the skill:

The hero cannot be of a base class (Priest, Sorcerer, Mage, etc.)

The hero's base class must have been the magic type.

The hero must be at least level 6.

The hero must be skilled in at least 2 primary magic skills.

The new skill, even though it requires all of the above, only shows up about 35% of the time when your hero gets a level up.

I hadn't considered having requirements for learning particular skills.

That would definitely make a player work to achieve something worthwhile.. it is an intruiging idea which I think is one that is worth looking at.

Speaking of requirements, they could also make a hero need something to use artifacts. Say a movement artifact would require a hero to have expert scouting, or expert pathfinding. Or a good bow (like the 'bow of the elf king' for all those who have played the nature campaign)
would require master archery.

Hmm? The possibilities are endless.

Hmmm. I never thought about artifacts having requirements before. Interesting. Perhaps those artifacts would provide a penalty (Such as -20% hit points, or the good old -2 morale).

Archibald taking over Palaedra? I think we're forgetting something here--Archibald is a Necromancer! When the Reckoning occurs, he's in Deyja!

He may not have been. Anyway, it doesn't have to be Archibald. It can be someone else. Maybe someone CLAIMING to be Archibald Ironfist, who somehow obtained the papers.
