What do you think of the new map?
The largest macro map so far with very defended first three bases from traditional attacks. Seems like lots of potential for blink and tank harass though. Tanks are going to be way out of position for that though.
What I would love to see would be another ramp to the behind of the main base from the back.

Looks waaay to big. Area size it's like 44% bigger. Until now, the competitive big maps never were bigger than 160x160 (well, maybe one map was 173x160 or smth like that), but 192x192....
I've only seen this map played on the tourney I mentioned above and it's still to early to say "it will/won't work", but 20 bases...just look too big :|

See, Blizzard did the choice to add micro to the wrong place in StarCraft 2. This is what initially drove me away from it.
They removed FUNCTIONAL combat micro. The functional being key word here. I don't mind useless combat micro elimination, like being able to autoselect the caster to eliminate overkill. That allows for more time for positioning and tactical decisions. But deciding to replace the functional micro of BW with the SC2 variant? Oh come on!
Then there's the real issue I have which is that they purposefully added in meaningless micro to all other issues of the game. Shift produce buildings? NOPE. Queue units in production? NOPE. Warp in from minimap? NOPE.
It takes away micro from where it really matters, combat. Then it adds it into where it should not be, economy. This retracts from the game experience and forces you to spend more time microing your economy than brutally slaughtering your enemies. And let's face it. We all want to be brutally slaughtering our enemies. We also want to see more brutal slaughter of both sides when spectating, not watch as the players micro their fricking drone line!

The biggest issue for me is the fact that this kind of micro is very noticable to viewers. It's exciting to see how a player is trying to get the best from a few units. This kind of micro-possibilities is what allow some players to distinguish between the rest, and add more variety to the battles, which is something SC2 really suffers.
Vikings vs colossus? Is always the same sh*t. Dodge storms (if there are) or blink stalkers and just focus the enemy colossus. So boring T_T
If Blizzard dared to make real changes to the game...

It is great map just by design and look, but I really don't like the Lava thing. I don't like those(kind of random) things that make you lose the game. If you don't know what I am talking about, this is from TL:
- Spawns are top left and bottom right
- Low ground floods with lava every 5 minutes killing anything remaining there (similar to WoL campaign) (includes creep tumors)
- Warning/countdown for lava rise provided, lava rises half way up ramps
- Watch for progamers timing their attacks to coincide with lava timings
So it kills creep tumors, which means no creep spreading, which is among the best mechanics that rewards great macro player, and there is always a tension between a players that clears the creep and the one that spreads it.
So this looks like a Map where you will largely depend on timings and all-ins to win, and I had enough of them in SC2 already.
So, I think that if they remove the Lava timing, it will be amazing.

Yeah like who gets 70 drones and 4 hatcheries against 2 base protoss I dunno what he was thinking! And the first thought I had was drone pulling asap when that attack reaches you. And holy those Hydras at the middle overextending xD
2-0

Not much to say, haha, well played Naniwa. Excellent undestanding of when to attack. Can't believe the series is over already, lol
Edit. Vortix just all-killed Quantic! He was on firee! Also looking forward to tomorrows gameesss.. no predictions this time though Just hoping Dear and sOs show how Protoss is supposed to be played! Their styles are awesome. Interested to see if Innovation is back to his former glory. And putting a lot of hope in Soulkey, I wish for a zerg in the semifinals!
