I think that the weeflea site is still up...
I think its weeflea.org now?
not too sure, anyway its got alot of excellent things to help with playing heroes3 on the zone..
Also targan, you can enter the zone room without it detecting your game. That way its still easy to find games. I play most of my h3 by ip and basically always have, just cause its easier to restart a random map that way.
Anyway sorry can't be more help.

Hello all, and sorry for bothering.
My problem is quite similar to the one Targan is experiencing, only worse. Lemme give a situation sketch first:
- I'm using and AMD 1.2Ghz computer, with 256Mb ram and enough hard disk space. Should more than do for heroes 3.
- Windows 98 second edition in Dutch version is installed on my system.
- There are three network interface cards in my system. One of them is disabled right now. The second is used for in a 2 computer lan and has a static IP. The third was disabled before, but now connects me to the net. (I've already tried uninstalling the other two network cards but that didn't solve the problem)
- I connect to the net through an UTP cable that ends in a 8 port hub, connected to a broadband modem at port one. I'm at port two and three other people are plugged into the hub aswell. Our ISP provides us with 4 separate IP adresses and I have no trouble getting online and doing ordinary stuff.
- I have an original Heroes 3 Restoration of Erathia disk, and an original Armageddon's Blade disk. Since I had broadband last thursday night, I've been trying to play with other people online but failed every time.
- I have visited the weeflea site, tried all I found there. Looked around on the web some more but couldn't find anything that could help me.
Here's what's happening when I install the thang:
- I uninstall Zone files, uninstall ab and h3, clear temporary internet files and reboot.
- The game states that directX is already installed so I don't have to install it. The test on the next screen though shows that the DX fails on my machine (I do have 8.0 installed!!). If I say yes, reinstall directx, the installer gives an error saying the remaining harddiskspace isn't sufficient (which is far from the case). I choose to continue anyway.
- I start installing heroes 3 in c:/programfiles/3do/heroes3 (tried c:/Program Files... as well hehe)
- At the end of the installation I want to run gameupdate, but it crashes. (tried to run a gameupdate patch I downloaded from 3do site, but it still doesn't work)
- I install ab, same directX trouble, gameupdate doesn't work aswell.
- I apply the official Heroes 2.0 to 2.2 patch and it completes without errors. (I also tried playing without patching once)
- I boot up the game, let the movie run. Start a single player game and exit the game.
- I surf to the zone, install zone files and choose to be redirected back to my room.
- That's when I see the error stating The game is not installed...
What else did I try?
- I tried Gamespy too. It allowed me to create games, but when I wanted to run them, I exited with a weird error. Joining games was also possible but it crashed when they started. Both errors had something to do with the game not being properly installed or with the wrong patches.
- Because I really wanted to play I tried an IP game. I was unable to find the other player. Other players were unable to find my IP. Just to make sure I pinged my local loopback address, my own address and then the distant IP of the player I tried the IP game with. All three pings were succesful. Ack!! 
I have no idea how to solve this thing, I'd really want to start playing. After all these years having the slowest possible connection now I finally have broadband... and I'm unable to play. I'm growing more and more tempted to smash my computer into the wall. But I'm pretty sure that won't solve the problem either So please, please help me anyone, if you can. I'd be very grateful. Hoping to be able to play some day, Nidhgrin---
I guess that's back to playing minesweeper then

That too me sounds like a pretty clear case of ports not being open for online gaming..
I'd call your service provider, or admin of the system, and see if they have disabled online gaming ports. Or you could email microsoft, and find out which ports are required to be open to play H3 on the zone..
This should solve your problem..
If not.. I am not sure what to tell you.. it could have something to do with a firewall too I suppose, didn't think of thattill now.

Thanks a lot destro The problem is solved. It was due to a registry key that was in the wrong language. I added the same key in english and copied the contents and it works

Hi
I have the problem as most others "cant detect heroes installed on youre hard drive thingy". Ive tried out all tips in here, and all tips and executables found on weeflea.org, and the ftp linked there.
This sucks, coz I just got my homm complete, and until I installed it, the original homm version worked fine, but now when I uninstall homm complete, and install homm original again, that wont work either
Anyone that knows what might be the problem?

well LL I had the same problem when I purchased SOD.But I did solve it with deleting my temp. internetfiles and zonefiles. Then I installed 1.0--1.4 and tried that out first before installing SOD. When that was okie-doke I installed SOD into the same folder as 1.4.
Dont know if this helps, but it did for me.Grey had the same problem too and we sorted it out this way..so..
I know it's a bit too late but still I just wanted to help I have a few days off *gg*

Maybe it's got something with my version of homm......I got mine from gamesmix.....maybe i've got some ***** up scandinavian version

if you have a crack version there are several places to go to. I am from denmark and I have the english version..so ??!!
I just installed the game today and I have just played a game so ..what can I say it works for me ..is that last sentence any use to you? j/k

What version of Windows are you guys running?

hmm....I used to have an english version of XP, and everything worked great until I installed complete...
Now I have win2000 english version.....still not working..
