The public education system has as little to do with intelligence as sex does. Getting good grades in school (at least in the states)is far more a matter of work ethic then then it is intelligence. I have a considerable IQ but im probably gonna graduate bottom 100 of my class simply because i do not do homework. Surveys like that exist only to mislead using peoples tendency to not ask questions when presented with a number.

i have heard of big iq survey where the mens average was almost identical to the womens.
not that our minds are excactly the same, men are better at calculating, driving and concetrating, but women are better with words, multitasking etc. Plus men and women have different insticts, men tend to make things, women tend to take care of the "nest" and children. Plus they`re less lazy, so no wander why theyre better at school.
Of course there are exceptions: anyone played unreal online? few people could put a fight on me where i played, but a 15 year old girl repeatedly slaughtered me with a flak cannon

Here boys still rule at math/chem/phys!
Girls beat us only in languages(3),history,biology and such.
Mostly boys from Russian language schools beat us at math(krdi tiblad)!

IQ is really only the ability to think logical.
Here in Norway, where this survey was 'made', you don't need to do your homework to get good grades. OK, you get better grades than if you don't, but not by much.
As an example: Me and Planeswalker (the maker of this thread) is in the same class. He does all his homework, I don't do squat. Still, his average is 5.6 or something, while mine is ca. 4.7. (6 is the best grade.)
But I agree: The public school system hasn't much to do with intelligence. Even though it's probably better here than over the ocean (at least, that was the impression 'Stupid White Men' gave me), true education begins at university levels.
And the gender thingy: Girls are just more hard working at this level. The same survey showed that at university levels, the boys catch up with the girls and beat them into their boots.
So, the conclusion is still open on the matter of who's smartest...
