Confirmed Features of H5
This should help end some of the wild and pointless speculation on this forum as to HOMM5 gameplay. These facts are confirmed by Ubi and MuadDib_FC (Fabrice, HOMM5 producer) in the www.celestialheavens.com forums:
* the game will use a 3D engine;
* the game will lean more towards strategy than RPG;
* the system requirements will remain low, and offer some scalability;
* a simultaneous turn system is considered, but only as a means to speed up the early parts of the game;
* there will be a demo;
* demons and the undead might form separated factions again;
* the multiplayer mode will focus on Internet play, but hotseat might be included;
* there will be a unique storyline for the single-player campaigns;
* the story style will be the faction switching / linked storyline style;
* stacks, dragons, upgrades, a combat grid and other basic concepts from the previous games will be back;
* a combat-grid resembling the one in H3 will be implemented;
* towns will seem more "alive" than before;
* lots of changesimprovements in the combat-phase of the game; that part of the game is starting to get playable;
* heroes will probably not participate in combat as in H4, but they'll be more involved than in H3;
* diplomacy will not be a major key in the game, but creating alliances during missions will be possible;

I got that from the H5 forums, it seems solid and believable enough.
Well it so far sounds better than H5

Upgrades?! Theres no such information that I know of. Could you give me the exact links where u found this info?

Six Towns
Fabrice from Ubisoft confirmed today at the official Ubi forum that H5 will have six towns, one of them being "new".
P.S. This is exciting, but I really have to stop sitting in front of the screen and hitting the "refresh" button!

well I think we must wait and see, with a cool history I think this factions can be together...
This is what I wait for a long time a new heroes game... that is I'm here again(well I never leave, just see and no post )

I wonder thoguh, will the towns be "aligned" like in H4..such as Preserve, Life, Order, Chaos..etc.
or actually castles, as in H3, like Rampart, Castle, Tower, Dungeon....
I hope the H3 style.

I hope for an entirely new style. It hasn't been constant this far (H2 it was divided by Hero type, in H3 by Town, and in H4 by alignement).
So, if they're gonna go by tradition, which it seems so many people desire, they'll have to come up with something entirely new!

Terje, this seems to be official, so I'll copy it here:

General features
- There will be a completely new designed world in Heroes V, thus known heroes won't appear.
- confirmed fractions: humans, demons, undead
- elves and orcs will appear, however whether they are playbale fractions with their own towns is unknown so far
Gameplay
- New system in tactical combat: either as it was in Heroes I-IV or some kind of real time, i.e. you have a time limit per every turn in combat (which will have a hex grid)
- heroes don't act on the battlefield, but wil cast spells
- many units have spells of their own (like angels healing allies)
Storyline
- Dragons will play a major role, they will be found in religion and astrology as well as in tales and legends. Every race is connected to dragons, either in a direct or indirect way.
- The fanatic humans of the griffin empire worship the dragon of light (the idol of their religion) and hunt down heretics with their army of knights and powerful angels mercilessly.
- The "seventh dragon", a legendary wizard, banned the demons in a plane, but they will be back in Heroes V and still have a bone to pick with him.
- The storyline begins as follows: The demons kill the recently crowned king of the humans, Nicolai, whose wife Isabel seeks revenge. To defeat the demons, she makes an alliance with the undead followers of the necropolis - a fatal decision...

over 40 is not an exact number so it could mean there are 41 creatures or 141
