Where the heck are the Dwarves?
What's Heroes without dwarves? And yet they have not even been mentioned in any of the details released by Ubi...
Is it possible that they will be in an expansion pack, and if so would they become part of the rumored Barbarian faction? To me, they don't quite fit in as barbarians, and would seem more plausible if they belonged to a clock-work technology theme, similar to that of the dwarves in Warcraft III.

Yep, I don't like it either. Elves get two factions to themselves and let's pretend there's no such thing as Dwarves? Bad idea, I say.

Well Dwarves are left out, but I can make a hint, that there are artifacts with a name "dwarf" so I assume they might appear in the expansion as a whole seperate faction biased on snow terrain. (Forge perhaps ?)

two major Heroes creatures left out: dwarves and CENTAURS!!
Looks like the new town: orcs/trolls/goblins/cyclops etc. and dwarves and centaurs.
But they would be more suited to the desert.. and the desert is taken.
And what about the swamp creatures?

indeed, its almost like they said to themselves:
"that town is the same as a previous one!!! atleast make 1 change to it!!!"
but hopefully the wizards and genies casting ability will have some random factor, so the faction changes a bit more
i think dwarves will be a neutral. if not then. . .well. . .im sorry i cant go on

They had better make the Dwarves neutral, at least. Not having Dwarves in a Heroes game is like playing chess with one of the piece types excluded.

I agree, the dwarves have been a part of the Heroes series since the beginning, so why leave them out in the new game. Every time they are in your army, they are usually in large numbers, so that and the magic resistance makes up for the fact that they are one of the slowest units in whatever version of Heroes you are playing.
With them out of H5, they are almost guaranteed to be in the first expansion pack released, since they have been a staple of the Heroes series.

where the HELL are the dwarves?!
Is it me or I have noticed this thread only now?!
Well, strange I didn't notice this thread before, as it would have been interesting to join such a heated discussion
Truly, dwarves have been in the Heroes of Might and Magic series ever since. They were different, as they changed factions during the series, but remained the same fat strong guys whatsoever. It is pity that Nival decided to exclude this race, as these creatures are always used to center the whole town/kingdom/race around them in most games. One statement, which was stated here, in this thread, and to which I surely agree, is that UbiSoft MUST have plans for them in future expansions/versions/patches. True, I have heard about the existence of artifacts with the 'dwarf' name included (supposedly, they were dwarven-made) and that seems to be enough for me to deduce that they WILL appear in the expansion packs.
Another thing, which makes me guess that we will meet them later on, is that no races are known to have established their kingdoms on SNOW, so none have it as their native terrain so far. Haven, Sylvan are supposedly about to concentrate on grass terrain, inferno on volcanic, necropolis - well, I dunno, dirt? battlefield? graveyard maybe? or a new one, dungeon orientate around subterranean and academy's a town situated in the desert. Four types from previous games remain unused: rough (mountaineous), snow, swamp and water. Snow, as the dwarves always live in norternmost or mountaineous (or both) regions, is perfect. This is what again makes me think about the expansions (the remaining terrains could be used by other factions).
But one rumour, I got wind of, is that if they re-appear in the game, they will be in the barbarian faction. Oh no, that is not supposed to happen. Dwarves can be found communicating with them, fighting, allying their forces, but never violating the true rules of the nature - the everlasting argument between orcs and dwarves and placidity, neutrality. I could not bear to see that dwarves are evil, twisted good-for-nothings like the orcs are. Plus, they are the worst enemies in almost every game I had a chance to play. If both dwarves and orcs are about to appear in the game, I hope (or so-to-say 50% sure) they would be in separate factions. BUT, one thing I am not against and had even written about the dwarves allying with creatures like mountain giants, cyclopses and other castaways.
(hem...hem...) That's why, which is a strange case as I have never done anything like that before, I created (and have them posted already) some proposals about the dwarves. I wrote almost about everything connected with the mountain folk I could think of. Creatures, kingdom description and the storyline, of course, is included.
If you might want to visit the page and haven't done that yet, here's a LINK TO THE THREAD: Ideas for more towns by fortress_fan.
This is all I have to say about the dwarves now, but as well as you all do, I really hope for the dwarves to return. I am sorry if my thoughts seem absurd or too obscure.

That sounds impossible.
