What I do is hang out in Room 5 and if my opponent and I decide we want to play one of the other maps we move over to a training room.

- Actually, to just finish this topic off, you can, when yo come to the channel screen just click on the arrow next to "your name" upper right and you can "move" the dual rooms to the bottom
- On another topic, is it me or is it in general that when I have a room created I cant see whats going on in the lobby ? A bit annoying imo.
- Plus, I have added quite a few to my MSN list, but could you please edit your posts or make one so all can see when your usually on.. e.g. GMT... I'm GMT +1

Yeah you can't see the lobby, and what is more annoying to me is that there is no way to send private messages to anyone.

Okay my point was simply that the training rooms aren't visible when you log in meaning that Joe Blow User doesn't see them unless he does like what you are saying or scrolls down. Human nature is often, unfortunately, to be lazy.
In any case to me I don't care where we all meet really. When I got on my soapbox about Rated Room 5 it was due to the ranking thing which I didn't care about but others did. These lobbies really suck to be honest and I was thinking down the road when there are a lot of people playing in there that having us all in a separate room would be a benefit not a bad thing. It only made sense to start doing it now at the beginning rather than later because once people get used to doing something it is often hard to change it.
However, I have to say I expected there to be whole heck of a lot more ToH members returning and jumping in to play. I really thought we'd have an average of 20-30 folks in there (With 18,000 registered users and all the activity on this board this didn't seem very far fetched to me.) and when someone logged in to play they'd see Room 1 sure but they'd also see a lot in Room 5 and check it out. It was always about getting away from the idiot GO! GO! GO! folks and those who have no interest in turnament play or in many cases in finishing a game.
Anyway I also want to say I understand about wanting to get the word out so I have a couple thoughts (Of course he does. LOL) mostly for Ves really. The first is can you put an image or two with a link to ToH up on the site that can be easily downloaded to be imbedded into the UBI forum messages. I have posted on there a bit and a small ToH banner couldn't hurt for advertizing. I have seen JB and a few others on there but if more members did an occasional post or two with such a banner it would really get the word out.
The other thought is I think it would help if there was some sort of welcoming message above the news on the main ToH page. The page is more designed for those already familiar with the site (I'm not knocking it in any way whatsoever... the site really looks great!)not someone visiting for the first time. Someone visiting may not see the link for new players and even if they do there really isn't anything written anywhere explaining what ToH is all about. I was thinking of something that said maybe:
"WELCOME TO THE TOURNAMENT OF HONOR!" and the philosophy of the tournament: "If you are looking for good games for all levels of play and plenty of honorable opponents this is for you. Except for some specialty tournaments, you choose who you play and when you play them and you can play as little or as often as you want. So visit the New Players page, gather your friends and register."
Okay I know that could be written better but you get the idea. When people hear tournament they naturally picture some sort of latter thing where you are required to play certain other players and all that and I imagine this turns off a lot of people. We should promote to people that they can get their friends from the lan at work or whatever and play here. I imagine we'd get busy in a hurry. In any case, even if you don't like the welcome idea the points I made above should at least be mentioned at the beginning of the new players page.
Finally I'll make a post about MSN IM on the "UBI servers suck" thread that everyone really needs to read as it has worked great for several of us, since it more belongs there.
Sorry for such a monster post everyone.

The welcoming message on ToH site is an excellent idea.
I'm a fairly new player so I can tell ya, that my first visit there was a little bit confusing. Didn't really know what it is all about yet, and as Bobby said, I associated tournament with some kind of play-offs or something like that.
I'm not a native english speaker and in my home language tournament surely means something like that.

It is. The whole concept is great, and it needs to be reeeally easy to find out what the "Tournement" is. I mean, we tend to be lazy on the internet, dont we?
This is something for everyone everywhere, you can keep on playing with you friends, you just get the additional fun that it is to be a part of a ranking system. The idea of register results and get "ranked" imideately gets to my rather competitive mind.
I think a simple and straightforward description of what TOH is should be accessible through a "Welcome to ... " or something along those lines

Ok. I think the welcoming message is really crucial to get things going.
Check out what happened when I tried to introduce some fellow player to ToH:
I told him that ToH is a place to meet and play worthy opponents and get rated. I gave him the URL and he promised to check it out.
The next day I see him in the lobby I ask if he's already registered and if he's up for a game.
And he replies: "I thought that you have to report at least 4 games before you can play"
Now, I don't know what he meant by report, or what report does mean to him, but what I know is that ToH needs a clear and straightforward welcoming message for new users.

New to ToH ..
Hey,
- I have also experienced that what Betruger so elequently put in his above post. So my input would be, that the host of ToH just re-write the statments from the main page ;
1) Welcome to the Tournament of Honor - Heroes V ( 05-15-06 )
2) Let the games begin ( 19/05/06 )
3) Multiplayer ToH Games on the Ubisoft servers ( 26/05/06 )
- Well just my thoughts, it's all the info people needs, and as I said just make a summary of the whole thing

You can play anyone you want.
You just start off as a recruit (Plebe)
You need to play 4 games to make foot soldier so you can join the coming sub tournies.
It is a requirement for many prerequisites to complete the 4 games.
You 2 can even play those 4 games.
