i think those sound really cool  just make sure you can make them (p.s. samurai's and ninjas weren't chinese, but japanese!)
just one thing, be careful when you are doing a japanese town. look here for Amastu for more information about japanese myth based towns. alternatively, go here for the legends of the tailed beasts for ideas for creatures!

What about a Mind flayer and Beholder town (those that played Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark know what I'm talking about).
Mind flayers are humanoid monsters with tentacles instead of mouth (used to suck brains from enemies), with telekinetic abilities and live underground. Of course they have a monstrosity appearance, but I can't describe them here. Here are some pics: clicky and clicky.

I remember the Mind Flayers had an overmind in NWN.
Telekinetic abilities:
Stun - resets the target's ATB to 0
Teleport - you know the spell, but this one works on enemy units too
Frenzy and Puppet Master
Also, all Mind Flayers should have the 'suck brains' ability: when a Mind Flayer attacks, it has a chance to suck the enemy's brains and thus making it unable to think (move, attack, etc) for some turns; if they suck the brains, they also feed on them and thus regenerate or even ressurect dead Mind Flayers.

Ok. This is what I might think have been a good Chinese/Japanese faction:
Lvl. 1
Agumer
The farmer is a medium tall man with short black hair and the classical chinese/japanese flat hat (you know what I mean)
He is thin but got some muscels. White shirt, orange west and a skin belt (small). No shoes. Long white pants. On his back he has a kargo with long-grass. In his hand his got a "bo", a long wooden stick he attack with. Atc. 1 - 3 Spe. (1 - 10) 5
Lvl.1 Upg
Special Agumer
The special Agumer is at the same size as Agumer, but a lot more muscles. He do not wear any shirt, but shot pants thats reach over he's knees and no shoes. As weapon he have a skewer at the same size as the bo. Atc. 1 - 5 Spe. (1 - 10) 5

Mind flayers are made up by wizards of the coast/D&D so homm can't use them, they have copyright.
Are you sure they are in fact copyrighted? They have used a lot of creatures already that are basically taken from D&D.
Anyway, the Mind Flayer / Beholder idea is imo. by far one of the more qualified suggestions that have come up lately.

And in his hand he got his bow, which carry the same name as the archer, and on his back he got the arrows. Atc. 1 - 4 Spe. 5
lvl.2 upg.
Shuriken warrior
The Shuriken warrior is at the just same size as Hankyu. He do not wear any helmet, but he has a short, black hair. He weares a kind of black karate suit with the faction symbol in white on the chest.
The Shuriken (All known as ninja star) is hanging from his belt.
They are more like the ninja stars from "Naruto".
And on his back he got a long bamboo stick for close combats.

Ninja
The Ninja is the Japanese scout, which means that his moves are very slow and attacks are really fast. His suit is a little bit like the Shuriken warriors suit, except it is thinner and on his legs and arms it is bands. Skin shoes and middle long hair and no hood.
In his hand he got a classical Ninja-sword.
Atc. 3 - 4 Def. 6 Spe. 7 Special combat ability: Melee (Ninja puts away the sword and start attacking with hands and feets. Atc. 2 - 4)
lvl.3 upg.
Sensei Ninja
Sensei Ninja is almost just as Ninja, same suit and same size but he has a mask. Some kind of hood, covering mouth, ears and nose, only the eyes are visible. On his biceps and legs he got thick gold plates and a big, golden faction symbol on his back and chest.
He has two ninja swords in each hand and one on his back.
Atc. 6 - 8 Def. 8 Spe. 7 Special combat ability: Melee (Ninja puts away the sword and start attacking with hands and feets. Atc. 2 - 4)
Chakra (Ninja Sensei formes a blue ball with a handform, holding one handflate up and one down, with a space about 4o cm. Atc. 7 - 9)
Silver statue (Ninja Sensei takes the sword on his back and crush it
to dust with his very own hands, then he blows it away to a enymy, then the enymy can't move that turn. Can only be used one time that battle)

so its prodominatly ninjas with no samurai's, ronins, Kasuke, Oban's, Kitsune, Tamuri, Nekotama, Kappa's, pheonixes or anything else japanese except ninjas.
a bit lame, don't you think?
i had high expectations for this factions, but Heine, you've let yourself down on this one!

listen, heine, before you do any faction, it helps to do your research about it. research on samurais, on japanese mythological creatures, on ninjas would help a faction (any faction) immensly. i had to create a elemental conflux based on japan, and i did my research, including all the names of japanese warriors, all the names for the swords and such, and i felt i had done a pretty good job of it! research is the key to alot of these things, and its good to know about the subject your talking about.
on the otherhand, i'm a history student, so i would say that!
