| Creature ability changes
As far as I can tell, you cannot change what creature abilities do. However, I was wondering if it's possible to simply change which creatures have what abilities, but not details of what the abilities actually do. For example, if I wanted to give Double Shot from the Hunter to the Master Gremlin.

Is this possible? I have not been able to locate where the creature ability data is stored in the data files. One idea I had was to simply delete a creature and replace it with a creature who had the abilities I wanted, and then edit their stats and models to reflect the original creature. Would this work? If so, how would I do it?

as i know, it isn't possible.  you can only modify creatures' abilities like stormbolt, summon pit lords (spell-like). sadly, thus it doesn't work.

| Okay, I have found that it is indeed possible to swap abilities between creatures, then change their stats and recruitment buildings.
The only unfortunate part is only one creature can have the same ability. Once you tell the game to give the Master Gremlin the Hunter's abilities, for example, the gremlin is the only unit who can use it.

Still, I suppose it's a step in the right direction.

| Because you're telling the game that the Master Gremlin is actually a Hunter, so it gives the gremlin the hunter's special abilities. Only one unit can be a hunter, so..you can only trade abilities among monsters, not simply give them out. ____________

| Ok, I'm resurrecting this topic after having read Radar's thread on Second Upgrades which gives me the impression that now we suddenly know how to add all kinds of different abilities (like No Retaliation) to creatures that normally haven't got these abilities. Is this true, and if somebody learned something new, can I have the update? ____________

| Well, I might have found a solution
When working on the Sanctrum for GotP, we had a problem that the upgrades had the stats and all, but not the hard-coded abilities. So, I went to RefTables to see if something can work. I opened up Creatures.xdb and looked around. The creature ID refers to the creature, and the other line refers to the xdb file. You can try fooling around with it. Maybe, get the Hunter's line and paste it instead of the Master Gremlin line. The problem: it might give Master Gremlin Hunter's stats.

| Hmmm - well, I am aware that we can "swap" creature abilities in the sense that if we make the Gremlin file refer to the Master Hunter table ID and vice versa, the Gremlin should come out with Double Shot and Warding Arrow, whereas Hunter would have Repair ability. We should even be able to retain the stats from the simple creature data .xdb file.
However, this will not allow to make new combinations of skills. Say I wanted a creature to have both Life Drain and No Retaliation (just to give an example) - would that be possible, when there are currently no creatures in the game with this combination?
