Very map dependant - it depends how much(and how fast) gold can be gathered.

Quote: so, one again, do you think haven sucks because of no magic hero, slow creep? i'd like to hear your opinion.
These people clearly didnt have a clue how to play haven. Its solid castle. Learn to play it and youll be winning with those suckers every time.(5 to 4 is not a bad score i got similar winning ratio on toh, you know it all depends who you played against )

They can creep easily with war machines and precise shot. For example, on Heritage of Deleb(Dougal = obvious pick), precise shot can break some of lvl 7 fast(tactics helps a lot vs firebreath) so the way to Deleb is clear. Then pit lords are an excellent example of how good guardian angel really is. Fight is very easy:
1. Three 100 hp tent's heals allow to "control" marksmen hp so that it's easy to make pits kill everything.
Guardian angel comes and resurrects the whole marksman stack. Pits are with no mana so a battle is won with no losses.

Id prefer just to use magic immunity instead some unreliable tactics (if ur talking about heritage of deleb map scroll is easi obtainable for everybody)

With tent it's reliable. IMO, this scroll is a major haven nerf.. vs pits they don't need it that much. Also, elders and mages are a joke vs guardian. Their spells - good, but normal damage - nothing that a tent can't take care of. It's very easy(with exp war -> net 300 hp resurrect tent) to suicide all marksmen vs shooters/casters and win with no loses.

guys, if you play vittorio, you have war machines, attack, leadership and light magic. what would you pick for the last slot? enlightenment, logistics, luck, something else?

I'd lean on enlightenment more, then luck. In smaller maps it could easily be viable to aim for warmachines and logistics for fast levelling and an early clash leaving the rest for later. Enlightenment is a good all around skill both for might(at least where haven is concerned ) and magic. I hate it when familiars suck my mana.

My strategy with haven is really defensive, with my paladins and angels attacking and the imp. griffins diving. I keep my marksmen in a corner, with peasants in front, priests are next to them bacause of no melee penalty. Then the squires in front of the priests. With this the group is well protected against ranged attacks. and if melee troops come then they get the marksmen special.
ps how do you get the heritage of deleb map

your strategy, wiseguy, seems vulnerable to area spells like fireball.

Well the units that are most threatening are the paladins and angels usually so marksmen with squires may not be targeted right away. Besides squires are not much on speed and griffins are better off diving at least for the first round.

Anyway, what I do with haven depends on creeps on the map. The tougher they are, the more skills I have to devote to take them down.
1. I want war machines to give AI hp to beat. Resurrecting tent makes things easy and fights are generally much faster: I use autocombat, AI f*** something - a tent saves the say.
2. I want guardian angel to own shooters/casters. If something went wrong then again tent saves the day.
3. I want dark if 1. and 2. are not enough. Mass slow, frenzy etc.
4. I want tactics vs annoying multihitters like emeralds, thanes:
F-F
---
M-F
M for marksmen
F for fodder
- for -
As soon as creeps can be killed with reasonable loses(single fodders) I want log.

so you generally say that you don't use divine guidance, aura of swiftness, retribution and light magic when you play haven?

Well, it's just more important to build town fast and train troops fast. And really, I can't imagine a map where it's not important to get to some places ASAP. For exampe, dragon topes. Benefits = ~20k, relics, majors, 2-3 spells, exp..
What will divine guidane and aura of swiftness do there compared to dark(mass slow)/war machines/light(mass haste)? Not that much. Unfortuantely, still it's good to take leadership if it shows up because it just won't leave a knight alone. It will be offered over and over again so that it's better to take it anyway. It's not bad(divine guidance, morale) and it's easier to get some other skill that is needed.
For example, day 1. A knight visits some stone and is offered with leadership. What to do? Of course, take it.. If not, it has a huge chance to be offered again hampering the chances to get machines/light.
Generally, dark is not that necassary but it's a good option to have - sometimes it may mean saving a lot of time and effort. Mass slowed troops and not mass slowed troops are 2 very different things..
So AFTER all key places on the map are assured to be visited FAST, then it's ok to take some late game skills like luck. But still, the most important thing is how many paladins and marksmen were trained.

every skill makes some perks available. for example - leadership, estates... i am not quite sure but i think that if you pik one of these perks, to get another, you'll need to advance in the skill. that is, if you have basic lead and diplomacy, to get estates, you'll need advanced lead. i've observed or at least i think i have, that for a perk to show up, you need this advancement. is it true? or i just have awful luck with skills?
last game - vittorio - lvl 22 and he couldn't get retaliation strike (training - basic) no retaliation strike means no triple balista
yet i joined 28 champions and things started to look nice...

You have the hang of it If you pick few skills early it's easier not to miss anything but if chance does not allow it you try something else. Seems it worked in your favour

Yup , its the rule. With this mechanism you can control skills you get too, so its not that bad. Its very important to make a good use of it.

thats why its important to choke our skill selections with vittorio so you can get all the way to triple ballista early.
