Necromancy already adds DE points. Personally, I wouldn't want to see a second skill doing almost the same as the class skill. The morale reduction seems ok to me.

Necromancy increases DE points ever since the change, although 1.5 increased the amount and reduced the bonus from Pillar of Bones, if I remember correctly. The amount depends on both the skill and the hero level. Refer to http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/heroes5/ability_necromancy.shtml.

okay!! thank you for the info

and now the one million gold coins question:

is the HoMM-HoF 2.01 patch (january 2007) similar to the HoMM 1.5 patch (may 2007) for these necromancy rules?

mostly, except for the different DE values for Pillar of Bones and heroes that I've mentioned. 1.5 has lower values for the Pillar of Bones and higher for heroes, something that 2.2 will probably introduce to HoF aswell.

I totally agree with this change. If barbarians can have change to total of four primary skills why can't the Necropolis get just one?

I actually like alcibiades's idea, making the leadership skill reduce morale for the enemy army, except the skillname "leadership" is totally off then, since leadership has nothing to do with reducing enemy morale.

Fortunately Necropolis is gonna enjoy the insanely overpowered Sorrow spell! Does it come with a mass effect?

it does, it's called Banshee Howl

but no, Sorrow can't be Mass-cast unless they extend the Master of... skills for the new spells. Mass or at least Area Rejuventation would be pretty sweet too...

Barbarians have a skills also which adds their class skill(battle elation) and so have demon lords (gate master, swarming gate, swift gating), so does warlocks(warlock luck) and I see no reason why shouldnt necros have skills what boost their DE. So high spellpower but can they learn warlock luck? No. Why? That would be make necropolis balanced and not underpowered.

the reason why Necromancers can't get Warlocks Luck is that Dark and Summoning Spells aren't affected. They can learn Destructive Magic, but they can't get the high circle spells from their own magic guilds.

As for the Barbarian skills that boost their racial, all these examples are PERKS, not the skills themselves.
A leadership perk that affects DE points would be fine, but leadership itself needs to do something else than it does now, and it shouldn't copy Necromancy itself, either.

They should extend master of pain with Sorrow and allow it to be cast as a 4x4 area effect spell. *nods*

Indeed, they should do that, right after they change Sorrow into two seperate spells, Sorrow and Misfortune, and make them level 2 and 3 spells ...

I had a own topic for this idea but it is going to get presented in this one afterall. (Mean moderators )

I took some freedom and made an alternative skill for the Necropolis which replaces Leadership because at current state it offers very little benefit for the Necropolis, Herald of Death being an exception.

I also made some concept how this new skill Dread could look.

Description: Since undead armies don't posses a morale the necromancers have developed an ability to strike fear in to hearts of the enemy.

Reduces enemy's morale by one point for each skill level, maximium of three points at expert level.

Note by Unixmage: The main skill's morale reducing effect (Dread) doesn't stack with banshee howl so the higher value is used when you have both.

I first thought about crossed schytes behind the skull but then I liked it to resemble the leadership skill a bit so that's why the trumpets.

Naturally I have also made skills to replace perks Emphaty and Retribution.

Despair: Enemy deals less damage depending on it's negative morale.

As you can see the "Eagle" is falling behind the weeping knight also his sword is broken in to pieces.

Malice: Each time enemy suffers a negative morale the necromancer's turn is pushed forward, if positive morale triggers necromancer's turn is pushed backwards in the ATB bar.

Here you can see this scary, hooded guy with sad-looking spirits, malicious eh?

The concepts are still quite raw but any feedback, good and bad is welcome.

They could exchange Empathy with a negative counterpart called "Malice" or whatever: Every time an enemy creature sufferes a negative Morale effect, the Hero moves 10 % in positive direction on the Initiative scale. However, if an enemy creature suffers a positive Morale effect, the effect will be the opposite.

I think I thought the term Malice here before but I just could not connect it from where did I hear about it.

Anyways I got the "Despair" colored, sadly the other pictures are not always shown such as malice and expert Despair.

The idea of shattering leadership seems pretty reasonable.
Although - taking in consideration the fact that Necro already can efficiently kill enemies morale - a bit too much.

And apart from the main topic:
In terms of the new "Shattering" magic, I think Irresistible magic ablity should have some impact on Shatter Destruction.

Advanced Irresistible magic - negates basic shatter destruction
Expert Irresistible magic - negates advanced shatter destruction
Ultimate Irresistible magic - negates expert shatter destruction.
