im all for it.. i mean Arny at least isnt doing it for the money right? he didnt just deny all the accusations which means hes smart. we will find out in a few years, if hes actually any good at the job. soo in 3 years someone can revive this thread and prove me wrong but until then i think he will make a good govenor. (maybe get rid of the fluride in the water supply? that would save millions! although everyone would have yellow teeth.)

What is Arnold really facing?
Some things for us to keep in mind when considering Hon. Arnold Swartzenagger's victory and observing him these next few years:
1) California is the fifth largest economy in the world, and comprises one sixth of the United States.
2) California's projected budget shortfall for the coming fiscal year is $8 billion.
3) Some speculate that California's problems, which led to the collapse of California's economy and subsequently to this recall election, can be illustrated by two main considerations: a) the fall of Enron and b) a growing energy crisis that California's environmental consituency's resistance has prevented the proposed conventional solutions.
4) At least one of these things (Enron collapse) is a long-developing, insidious element of the American economy in general, whose unravelling is/was completely out of the governer's control, whether the governor is Davis or Arnold.
5) The other of the two things (energy crisis) causes a bifurcation in the desires of the people who a) want the budget balanced, but b) want to continue discouraging the construction of power plants.
6) Problem a) (Enron collapse) relates to highly complex elements of the overall economic crisis in this country that anybody short of Smith or Keynes will have trouble dealing with, let alone an actor with no experience in the complexities of state government, economics, and budgeting methods.
7) Problem b) (energy crisis) arises just as an upshot of the sheer size of the population. Humans continue to want to have their cake and eat it too (myself among them). This dichotomy needs a concensus builder, perhaps someone so utterly removed from the politicial process that he is unmoved and unmarred by it, and who is so charismatic that those around him are inclined to follow along more than they would with someone else, just because they like him. Perhaps someone like Arnold Swartzenagger.
8) One does not have to be a political or governmental genius to run a state, not even one as big as California, if one is smart enough to choose cabinet heads who know state business and know how to get the job done. Perhaps the single most important job of a president or governor is finding the people who are experienced and skilled in law and economics, and also in recognizing the specialists around him in the specific fields of government addressed by each department (examples: Departments of Personnel, Human Services, Education, Public Works, etc. etc.) and appointing those individuals to the respective directorships of the departments. So if Arnold is smart enough to listen to those around him who know who the economic and governmental talents are, then maybe he'll do better than some of us think.
8) Given its sheer size, continuing economic collapse in California will more likely than not have long-reaching negative global ramifications.
So the real question is this: Are Californians a bunch of crazy idiots, or are they total geniuses who are fed up with the growing ineffectiveness of the American political system in general????

I'm quite glad, it's kinda refreshing
What I'd love to see if him saying "I'll be bahck" when he comes out of meetings, and especially "Asta-la-vista baby" in disagreement with Bush!

Oh, calm down! He isn't even a real Republican, just pretends. And a Republican running for president will not take California for a long time, it is a very liberal state.
