1 thing,
Everything that is in game is allowed, and every tactic that players make, barbs or no barbs...they are all tactics, and players have different styles how they play. If TC likes playing like that its his business. U cant blame him or accuse him of being a tasteless player if he uses his own tactics to win ; Maybe i agree that its not very heroish alike to attack week2 day 1 with 4barbs all with halberds but thats life
JInx if u dont like Tc style of play dont play him, And i think u started accusing... TC said that needs blacks and thats it..which is quite true u know...u started accusing of barbs etc... so I think u started

seemed like in h3 toh someone posted a nice link to an article some guy wrote about "cheap tactics" in all types video games. that link wouldn't be bad right now, if anyone remembers/knows it

heh here is the oppinion of a player that played homm4 several times at home, trying to understand all the new things that camed along with it
main strategy with chaos? donno much about it lol, tough Imo blacks are too abushive ( too strong ) compared to the other creatures from theyr level, not that balanced 
I like thiefs tough, that scouting is amazing, imo
that was my 2 cents
ps : I'll still stick to homm3

Orcs and thieves are good as starting troops.
Medusae helps to take our some stacks. Then comes your Efreeti (or Nightmares, if you really need that magic support) and your heroes with fire potions and spells. You build up to Black Dragons and you are ready to go. That time you should already have a Pathfinder. Very important to build up a tactician too, this is the only way to improve your blackies performance.
Really decent. I've just tried it on Fatal Controversy, and on day 5 I had all 3 cities captured, 4 level 7-9 heroes (level 9 thief (pathfinder), level 8 sorcerer (chaos), level 7 fireguard(melee), level 7 tactician. All made of chaos heroes so good morale too. I plan to make a druid as well.
1 Black Dragon dwelling is built as well.
No money to purchase it yet, but perhaps I made too much heroes. Or took too much XP from chests.
