Best Castle in Heroes 3 SoD (except conflux)

I strongly believe Rampart is the best castle a player can get in Heroes 3. I will elaborate after i read some other opinions and arguments.

It depends a little bit on the map size i think.
On XL-maps, normaly you canīt beat Necropolis.......

Castle for fixed.

Castle for randoms, as necro is usually banned there. Then fortress and inferno.

And I might not know anything.

Dungeon, Tower and Castle are the 3 best. They are the overall strongest armies stat wise and 2 have mage guild lv5 aswell. If playing on a L or XL map then these are the ones to go for. Skeletons aren't that great even in huge numbers.

Rampart is played the most there, and wins alot more than it loses. Castle loses more than it wins, and inferno wins more than it loses.

So.. rampart. Necro isnt included here, I will see about that.

Didnīt you told us, you were the Master of heroes?
After that post of you, i doubt that very strong!

On a random xl map, when you have Tower and a reasonable player has necro, you surely wonīt win a chuppa chup...hehehe

There is a strategy to play against Necropolis so don't say that. You can take only the gold dragons if you play with Rampart and cast an Armageddon, Implosion, not to forget Destroy Undead, Lighting Bolt on Liches, after wich surrender. Or take all the army after you ensure you haven't lost the 1th (especially master gremlins are very anoying) and 2nd lev creatures and fight him skellies aren't that good in this case because you have to use a blind for these units or attack them. Yes the strength comes in number but level 5th dendroids come +8 to a rampart. although I am sure all of you fans/players of Necro knows how best to control skellies/necro armies (the ones I played really sucked on this part).
I was planning to give another link on statistics but you can check that one as well.(the test was made on large maps, and most of them random ones). Dungeon had one big disadvantage, only a few maps had a subterran map.

So how many golddragons do you have end of month two?
Only with goldies and armageddon / implosion against that huge stack of skellies......tststs

Lord_Woock mentioned it very good.....you make one implo or one armag. and after that? If you wait with your dragons, i will e.g. teleport my 2000 skellies towards your dragons...and then? Or cast haste, so you only have one round left before your dragons smell the taste of the skellies.....and what if i have implosion too?

No dude, thats not a good tactic in my eyes....

And when the game takes more time (e.g. 4 or 5 months), your chances will go down from 20% to 0%, cause in that time, one could raise more than 7000 skellies.....

Skeletons are wonderful if you have teleport, but their weaknesses are their low Hp and their speed. Around 150 Grand elves could kill 2000 skeletons (fighting with no spells).
Thus do you find Necropolis less effective when playing Might masters (no spells)?

But i do not have ONLY skeletons in my army dude....their will be plent of vampirlords, which will block your grandelves anyway....until the skellies reach the other side of the battlefields...

I was just using that as an example, a single unit fight to demonstrate that 2000 skeletons can be defeated by the end of month 2.

What about best castle to choose against another castle?
For example if you have to fight a Necro what castle would you choose? I would Rampart, Necro or Tower.

If I were to fight Necropolis, I would choose a town that has a strong 1st level creature, that will compensate for the large number of skellies, like Rampart or Castle. Do not forget that the strenght of Necropolis lies in the big number of skeletons that can be raised rather quickly, but the other units are not that good, compared to other towns. Especially the ghost dragon, who is the weakest 7th level creature. If you can annihilate the skellies, any town is good against Necropolis

Their HP is the 3rd best among lv1s, while the speed doesn't really matter because sooner or later the opponent will have to face them anyway

How often do you have such a battle with no other armies?

The Hp of Skeletons is only 6, while their speed of 5 means any firing unit will have 3 shots before they reach over - plus faster range units can move around the battlefield avoiding the Skellies and firing when the distance between the 2 is greater then 5 hexes.
I was only using a theorectical unit v unit fight, in practice it would very rarely happen.
I myself would consider V.lords and D.knights the more dangerous units (and P.liches if your units are together)
