Map Editor Script Master please step forward!!!!!

I need help making a complex script.

I want to take a random stack of level 2's and make a timed script that if Player = chaos then Medusa wont be an option for the random creature.  The stacks are aligned with starting town so if they are chaos the choices normally would be - Mins - Eyes - Trolls - Medusas, but is there a way to make it so the only creatures that would pop up in that random stack would be any of the other 3 and NOT medusa?  **  Also if you manage to make such a script can the same script be applyed to random level 2 generators?

I found a huge bug in my newest map that could ruin the map if I cannot find a way to balance this issue.  Any serious help would be appricated.

making medusas not pop up in stacks is doable, but it's impossible to make a medusa dwelling NOT come up as a random L2 dwelling.

okay that is fine camel, the random stacks is my main concern.   I rather limit the number of medusas.  150 Medusa is better then 300+


So Camel can you post the script in detail step by step.  Keep in mind I am new to scripts so dont assume anything when explaining it.

We never assume anything whenever you make a post, and we do keep in mind you're new to Heroes too, so being new to its scripts is understable.

P.S. : a friendly advice, stop taking out spells/units/artifacts/skills from your maps, that makes them not so appealing to others, just a suggestion, not a bash.

well not too hard... just use some conditional events..

Triggerable event here on the random L2 stack (you only hafto script this once.. you can copy+paste this scripted stack to all the places where you have a L2 stack) because timed events dont work on buildings/stacks .. then have a timed event in the main menu which triggers the event on day 1.

SEQUENCE

IF army has GREATER THAN 12 medusas THEN take 99 medusas from army and give 14 evil eyes (or whatever creature you might wanna give )

IF army has LESS THAN 12 medusas AND GREATER THAN 1 medusas THEN take 99 medusas from army and give 6 evil eyes

(you do this to see whether the medusas are the primary or secondary army in the stack)


of course you can get fancier and more precise than this, but that is the general idea there.

Hmm but I still want it to be a random stack, i.e. normally at start of game there would be Dozens of Trolls or Minotaurs or Evil eyes, randomly chosen. So does the script you showed me allow for that? I understood your script to be it would just replace medusas with Evil eyes etc.

jinx..

did this 'huge bug' jumped on you with the face of 300+ medusa?  
each new loss, a new bug



chaotic lev2 troops are alrdy handicaped, concerning diplomacy(4kind, other have 2)
.. if one wants to lessen medusa % appearance, is obliged to do same for magi. maybe elves too?
see, it makes a chain.. you cant reinvent h4

Well I thought I could expect more from you Insatiable, you are sounding like Valky now with your talk of " If Jinxer loses its a Bug crap"

Has nothing to do with that.  If you or anyone can prove to me that ANY other stack of 300 level 2's can kill 16 Angels in 1 hit, then I will conceed my stance and view on this situtation.  You guys make it sound like I care if I lose, I couldnt care less if I lost ever game.  I just desire a game that is somewhat balaced and not possible to be overwhelming advantage to whom ever manages to find the biggest luckfactors on map. As Karim would say roll the dice and report.

Bottom line, my main goal is to balance the map and to remove some factors that are not appropriate to the specific map. On other maps 300+ medusas wouldnt be possible. In smaller numbers Medusas do reasonable damage and stonegaze is realistic etc.

well.. fact that medusa is 1/4 chance, both on random stacks and dwells.. that, releifs me.

ANY lev2 stack can be a snow under circumstances..
This is medusa weapon.. i worry too that may be quite strong, but i dont see a ridiculous unblance here, only that is strong unit when comes in numbers

that.

'Ban party' never stops, try stay out of it..
and for once more: Only butter cant make a cake, mix up all chit and you there- many 'unbalances' lead to true, ilogical balance- cant have a chess without a horse.. want more?

Taking those things out is what makes a map unique. Besides I have had alot of positive feed back that alot like DangerZone, if anything it is not appealing to you Valky, or players who need to exploit the things I have removed.  

Question for you Valkyrica, so you are saying that every map should have the RING of PERMANANCE enabled?

I appreciate your suggestion Valky, I am always open to suggestions and ideas.  This map is unique and therefore needs unique settings etc. Some like it some dont, there is 85 maps on TOH page so if people dont like play style DangerZone has to offer then they have much to choose from.

Interesting analogy, but a more apropriate anaology would be " cant have a chess game with opponent having 3 Queens "




Besides Insatiable you still did not aswer my challenge question???  Please name me another stack of 300 level 2's that can kill 16 Angel in 1 hit?

medusa just did their job
medusa, magi, cyclops, genies can be extremely harmful animals.. so.. i guess taking them down early becomes priority+ theyre useless once someone sticks close to them or, on medusa-magi case, after they suffer a good uppercut.. because their strength is only in big numbers
like toh united!

Jinxer, what you want is all level 2 to be equal, you'll take medusas out, and then, other level 2's will stand out (e.g. magi), then if you take those out, another lvl 2 unit can be the best, thing is, too many random level 2 stacks in under, 100 medusas are weaker than many other 100 level 2 stacks, but in numbers like 300 they kill everything.

But, as you said, it's the map's purpose to give the players snowload of level 2 troops, so i guess you can take them out.

And for some who wanted to be fans, you said that you're gonna work on oracle guards, the way they are now, you just go around in circles and do nothing for like 2-3 weeks, just a thought, again !

Hmm of I put level 2 Guards on Oracles wont that be to easy? As I said I am willing to listen to advice and ideas, but dont want to turn DangerZone into a week 4 map.

I have noticed after I get rolling and able to take the oracles it only takes me about 2 weeks approx to get all oracles.

I have tons to do in first 2 weeks. Taking towns and getting tents and scouting fighting for loose resources in middle, scoutwars etc, I think all it will do if I make oracles have level 2 guards is turn a week 7 map into another week 4 map.  

So far Valkyrica is the ONLY person to not bring this up? Remember this map offers different play styles and eviroment, there are plenty of other week 4 quickergame maps if thats what a player is wanting. I will talk to many of the other players that have said they love the map and get there opinions, there are many who dont visit this message board.

You still dont get it Valky.  You cant see past the nose on yur face, cause you are only intent on flaming me. I have asked this question many times now and you and Insatiable both have danced around it.

Which other stack of 300 Level 2's can kill 16 Angels in 1 hit????

Its not about making every since level 2 exactly balanced and 100% equal. Even 300 magi ( does 1440 damage )could not kill 16 Angels in 1 hit. Not even close.

If you have nothing serious to offer please dont flame in the posts.

everything i post you take as a bash, if you only want to hear yourself cry, that's fine by me.

I had valid points, so had insa, in this post and the other, but if you refuse to listen and go on ranting that the map has "different strategy options" and leave it like that, it'll be played by 2,3 players and then slowly forgotten, just like Imperial Prison ...

and about killing 16 angels in 1 shot, that happens if you keep them in the first row and wait with them so medusas can strike, nobody's fault here.

And now i am officially done trying to have a conversation with you.
