Top Ten Secondary Skills: Ranking

This has probably been done before, but I'm a n00b.
My top 10 secondary skills:

1 Wisdom
2 Water Magic
3 Fire Magic
4 Earth Magic
5 Air Magic
6 Archery
7 Logistics
8 Necromancy
9 Intelligence
10 Offense

Reasoning:
I like magic. I like STRONG magic.  So naturally, wisdom comes first.  And, naturally, magic comes second.  The order of the magic classes isn't all that important to me because I will take all of them whenever possible, but I put them in this order because of specific spells: Bless, Blind/Berserk, Slow, Haste.  I like archery almost as much as I like magic, so that comes next.  I like speed.  I like skeletons.  I like spell points.  After that it sort of drops off - my idea hero would have numbers 1-5, 7, 9, and: 8 for a necropolis hero, 6 for any other hero.  That would be awesome.  (I chose offense because it's the next best thing to magic.)

Please, tell me why I'm horribly wrong, because I probably am

I'm a noob (as far as others say) in h3 too.
My stats are a bit noobish and there are eight of them, but still they're here:

1. Offence/Armorer
2. Necromancy
3. Intelligence
4. Wisdom
5. Logistics/Pathfinding
6. Sorcery
7. Archery
8. Artillery

Donīt worry...

U just make the same mistakes that all players (including me!) made when only playing against stupid computer.

When u start online gamimg against human players, u will learn (slower or faster...it depends on u..), that skills like "offence", "armorer", "tactics" are much more important than your magic skills...
It only needs 1 simple artifact to prevent my troops from your "awesome" magic....or at least from high spell magic.
But there is nothing u can do against pure MIGHT, combined with tactics and good defence..
Remember, in a battle, u can cast only 1 time in a single turn, but i can hit u 7 times in a single turn...

Just my 2 cents....come to the zone and play the real Heroes of Might and Magic.....

Angelito you seem to like inviting people to come to the zone too much.....are they paying you or what

Aniway my top 10 varies very much deppending of what town i play.
e.g. Playing with Tower i will take archery but when i play with fortres i curtanly wont. But if i would have to make a general top 10 it would be like this:

Wisdom
Attack
Archery (if playing with the right town)
Resistance
Logisticks
Earth
Air
.
.
.
the rest is not really important but having all 4 magic schools isnt bad.
Also if there is lot of water or rough terain i will take navigation and pathfinding.

The only things i never take are schoolar and learning.

But as i said abowe it strongly depends on map, town and situation.

One word: necromancy.

Well, here's a few more:
Armorer, Offense, Tactics (just because they make those skellies so much better ^_^)

EDIT: Forgot one - logistics, to help gather skellingtons faster ^_^

Hehehe...no, they donīt pay me anything, but they gave me something..

I play this game for about 7 years now, and it started to get boring from month to month. I only played randoms finaly, and was very excited, when the changeable "rmg.txt" was found by some cool guys.
I learned what one can do with that file and changed settings up to impossible settings (for my zone) and average settings for computer zones.
But after a while this also was no challlenge anymore..

But when i got my internet access, i started to play against human players.
And what should i say?
That are really challenges now.....very tough guys...and they learned me pretty fast, which skills are important and which not.

Only coz of that reason, i tell everyone to come there and learn by himself how important my mentioned skills are..

Good luck....hope i will see u soon..

angelito, don't underestimate the importance of magic.
One mass haste in the round, and there go all your 7 turns in the round. Yeah, might is the basis you need to win, but an expert cast spell can work exactly like a skill, or even more. And you have the advantage with magic, coz you can adapt to the situation. Magic (if wisely used) can turn the tide of winning against the player with the bigger army.

Anyway, i agree with the rest of you about the skills, though I don't usually take Sorcery, Artillery, Inteligence, Magic resistance. I'm surprised that nobody mentioned Luck/Leadership (esp. Luck coz that type of arts are hard to come by).

svarog..u pick intelligence, sorcery, wisdom, luck etc in a online game versus a TOH veteran and lemme know how you do lol.

My guess: you will get beaten up so badly that you will learn to think twice before giving out single player advice here again

logistics is the best 2nd:ary skill btw, makes sense. Since movement is limited the more movement you can get the more places you can visit/take more battles in a shorter time.

Thats what matters.

Speed is essential.

Offense/Armorer helps aswell.

So does exp. earth magic when it comes to clearing the map, exp water/air can also come in handy in end fight. But you dont waste 6-7 slots on magic, thats just dumb.

Who need luck/leadership when you have tons of artefacts that boost luck and moral. Not to mention varius "+1/2/3 to luck/moral" kinda building laying behind every corner........beside All the other skills work always, you cant enter the battle hoping that you'll get moral or luck.

Bene there, done that

Ya, this has been done b4, But I couldn't find the old 1.

"If u can't beat them, join them."

on MP L & XL rdms number 1 and 2 will of course always be Dip and necro.

But in most MP-games this is ruled out for obvious reasons.
(BTW, if this is not obvious for u, dun read my post further, or at least PLEASE do not respond on it. Try to read and learn 1st; I will not start discussions about the usefulness of luck.)

In these cases log and earth r the only ones really needed.
And depending on the mapseize and -kind and the estimated 'seize' of the endbtl u might also consider water.

On BB, pathfinding is essential if the block between u gives u reason to believe u'll get a big chunck of the treasurezone b4 u meet at some1's town.

Tactics u need quickly or not at all.

I like off and def, but am a water-fan.

Other tip: train a 'scout' to expert (view) Air.

And I thought that I actually dissapproved Intelligence and Sorcery. Just read my post before you answer it. Not just the "keywords".
And say what you will, but I think Wisdom is an absolute must. Luck can be discussed, though I wouldn't put it in my top 5 either.

ooops

sorry about that hehe

It all comes down to situation though, but wisdom is off course usually a good pick. Even if you got a top 3-4 mage guild you still can get spells from boxes at randoms.

Luck/leadership is just a toss though, you got as others has mentioned arts for that and the only fight it usually matters in is the end fight or big block fight. So if worried go visit some luck/morale boosting locations first. Taking one as a 2ndary skill is usually a waste of space.

so there, now i actually read your whole post through too

gotta learn not to be too predicting when it comes too n00bs it seems

Actually the last two may help. Scholar for a secondary hero, and artillery even for the primary. A schollar may be an easy way to learn ressurection, animate dead, prayer, chain lightning, shield, slow or haste if they do not appear in your mage's guild. There are some other spells you can learn by using scholar but I think the above are the most important ones. I personally never miss to hire the Resurrection specialist warlocks if they appear in my cities.

In heroes all of the circumstances must be used in the best way possible. This may be the difference between the victory and the defeat.

I am usually Necropolis, so here are my top 10 skills

1. Logistics ( a must have, i cant stand moving like 4 spots when im on a rough terrian..its irritating, Logistics mixed with a few items = Pwnage)
2. Necromancy (Gogo Skelly Army!)
3. Wisdom (Never hurts to be wise, learn more spells)
4. Eagle Eye (good on small maps with random small skirmishes with your opponent[s])
5. Leadership (Needed with necromancy, good with diplomacy)
6. Diplomacy (I gotz 5000 skellys, 150 Vampire Lords and About 70 Lich Kings ..Look, i see some arch angels..yea...)
7. Luck ( It works alot for me..dont know bout ya'll. I find it useful when my Dread Knights do more dmg, then have it doubled)
8. Mysticism (Works on large maps, when u dont have time to spend 1 full turn in caslte, or cant find a well)
9. Water Magic (Cold spells are awesome)
10. Air Magic (Lightning is good...)
