Idea: Mid-towns
I took to mind Marelt’s idea of including semi-towns in H5 and formed a new kind of proposal (which was included here once upon a time).
What is mid-town?
It is a town that fits to the story and has several disabilities. First of all, mid-town is formed by two different co-operating alignments. For example, Order and Life would create a new town called Castle (or Haven if the old one is renamed). Here is a list of contents that would be applied to mid-towns:
~ Mid-town is the same as a normal town
~ Mid-town has the same creature system, but has four levels instead of six. But each level wouldn’t represent the same level as in normal town - mid-town 1st is normal town’s 1st, mid-town 2nd is normal town’s 3rd, mid-town 3rd is normal town’s fourth and mid-town 4th is normal town’ s 6th
~ Mid-town uses magic schools of mixed alignments
~ Mid-town has heroes that use the same (sometimes, not) secondary skills
~ Mid-town is not as the semi-town, oh no.
So for example, Castle (Life - renamed) and Academy (Order) would form Haven (Life/Order). Might hero would be Thane (nobility) and Magic hero - Hierophant (Life or Order Magic). Creatures - dunno, think of your own
What mid-towns are there?
Well, if it fits to my storyline, there are six normal towns and then they would form other six mid-towns. Light alignments could only align with themselves, as so, the Dark alignments do. Here’s the list:
Town: Haven
Alignment: Life/Order
Might Hero: Thane (Nobility)
Magic Hero: Hierophant (Life or Order Magic)
Primal Resource: Mercury
Town: Rampart
Alignment: Life/Nature
Might Hero: Archer (Archery)
Magic Hero: Cleric (Life or Nature Magic)
Primal Resource: Wood & Ore
Town: Redoubt
Alignment: Order/Nature
Might Hero: Scout (Scouting)
Magic Hero: Prophet (Nature or Order Magic)
Primal Resource: Crystal
Town: Fortress
Alignment: Might/Chaos
Might Hero: Rogue (Combat)
Magic Hero: Witch (Chaos Magic)
Primal Resource: Sulfur
Town: Preserve
Alignment: Might/Death
Might Hero: Marauder (Scouting)
Magic Hero: Shaman (Death Magic)
Primal Resource: Mercury
Town: Inferno
Alignment: Death/Chaos
Might Hero: Beastmaster (Tactics)
Magic Hero: Sorcerer (Death or Chaos Magic)
Primal Resource: Sulfur
This would be the list of those mid-towns. As you see, some things are a bit changed, ‘coz it is only a cut from my collection of proposals I’m creating.
Mid-towns should be rather interesting option in Heroes V, since it is new and isn’t used yet. I know there were alliance town proposals, but this mid-town proposal is much better IMO.
Opinions???

Idea is O.K. but, personally, I don't need this. I'd like developers put their energy into the quality.

I agree. It doesn't really seem necessary; I would prefer 12 completely different towns as opposed to 6 main towns and 6 mid-towns. The mid-town concept robs the other towns of their uniqueness (for me, at least).

Sorry, but me likes my semi-towns better. The fundementals of those semi-towns are the fact that they are completely different from the conventional towns. Towns that resemble the other towns too much are indeed redundant.

Yes, he never did answer my post about the reason and usefulness of semi-towns.
This is not a bad time to revive that thread, Marlet.
(he, we'll be discussing both semi and midi towns at the same time. )

Well, my idea is pretty good. Since you want different towns, think of your own. But you'd see it is hard to create 6 completely different towns, 6 mid-towns and 4 semi-towns. Duh! Even this is very simple, coz creating many towns is pretty hard. 12 towns! 6 levels, 2 creatures and maybe an upgrade EACH is hard.
Furthermore, mid-towns are very interesting. It is almost the same as a town, but as I said, there are a bit differences.
Semi-towns should be included too. 12 towns to choose from the start, 4 to capture. Great!

The point is that all of these mid-towns have different creatures, different heroes, different creature dwellings, different town screens...
The drawback is that they are not unique enough, as one of the guys here pointed out. In fact, they function just like ordinary towns, only with a slightly lowered number of creatures, and that makes them unplayable and handicapped from the start, which is only an unnessecary waste of potential. So, for the same amount of work the programmers would do as for ordinary towns, you get unplayable, not-unique towns.
Plus, most of these so called mid-towns you suggested have been recognized as pretty much unique and have little in common with the neighbouring alignments that compose them.
eg. Inferno (Chaos and Death), Fortress...

LOL
You do not understand the purpose, right? It is unique. Many differences here. THough, 4 levels per town and 4th level creature just like 6th. That's handicap, oh yeah
One thing is that it fits to my storyline, to campaign stories and to the game.
Btw, mid-towns could have especially good range of other town buildings or for example, unreal income from town hall.
That's one of the biggest points I wanted to show.
