The most underestimated spell

I've been going quite far in post history and found many interesting posts and I did not dared to reply and bring back such old topics...

I haven't seen any such topics tho...

What is the most underestimated spell ?

IMHO, it has to be curse...

People LOVE mass haste, mass slow... Well what good is it to do either of those if u are mass cursed... Bless is also underestimated but not as much as curse...

I often read people saying that curse was useless on an archangel... Sure its not as good as on another creature with high variance.... But looks at the facts, the AA does 50 dmg without and does 39 dmg with... its still a reduction of 22%... But that is only the worst reduction... Cuz on the low level creatures, it totally kills them... since they often have a minimum dmg of 1...

Anyway, this is my idea of the most underestimated spell... If I have it, I hope my oponent doesn't have that necklace(or that he doens't wear it) cuz it could very well mean a victory for me.

on the opposite side of the specrum from fire, there are nasty water magics. opponent has curse? no problem, choose from a catalogue that includes bless, dispel, and cure.

or vs big shooters like orrin, forgetfulness is handy. lets not dare forget weakness too. when tazar casts this on you, your damage is reduced from little to none!

Most Under-Estimated Spell

Dispel. At expert level, this spell will even remove the invisible citadel mines of the Tower town.

If your opponent has the Orb of Fire, I think each mine does 50% more than 150 damage. I believe equates to 225 damage per mine, having 10 mines total. In the end a total of 2,250 damage can be instantly/permanently removed from the battlefield plus ANY/ALL other spell effects including anti-magic.

If we are only talking about first level spells, I'd say
view air which shows you exactly where everything is.

Another One

Summon the Damn Boat! And that's exactly what you say when you first get it and try to use it. If your map has any sort of out-lining body of water then you can gain some serious time advantages by using the sea. The funny thing about Summon Boat is that you could possibly get it on the first try every time, or lose all your precious spell points in the process. Hence the need to add profanity into the name. You never know, if you scream it loud enough, (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! SUMMON THE DAMN BOAT! JESUS-H-*******-CHRIST!). Okay maybe it won't improve your chances, but it might make you feel better if your boat doesn't appear.

If u donīt have watermagic, and there is NO boat on the whole map, u will ALWAYS fail summoning a boat.

With expert water magic instead, you will ALWAYS succeed!

Just for those who didnīt knew...

Doubtful. Tazar has armorer specialty and high defense, which means that the damage he receives is reduced greatly. Mass weakness reduces it further.

I thought the key was underated. Spells like bless, curse, dispell or anything that can be used in a battle I have and do use a fair bit. Summoning boats is a frequent and needed thing. Using view air is underated because I often forget about it and when I do use it, I wonder why I didn't before. Ok, maybe I'm a dumbo and you all use it first thing to plan your movements and locate things, but I really do forget about it

...hehe ..Tower Landmines.

There are some funny facts about them:

The landmines are casted on advanced firemagic on spell power 10. They are the only town defending system which influenced by the visiting hero.

The formula: 10x 10sp + 50 = 150 damage.

They will do 150 damage at minimum, only if the heroes stats are stronger it will above them. So the hero needs..

Spellpower 14 without/with basic firemagic
Spellpower 11 with advanced and
Spellpower 6 with expert fire magic...

..to increase the damage of the landmines. Of course the fire orb will always increase the damage by 50%. The hero doesnt need a spellbook.

The problem with the landmines is that u cant let them explode on someone that is immune to fire magic so that they wont to damage (efreetis, fire/magic elementals, Phoenixes). They simply wont explodeand are still there for the next one to come.

Same problem with Resistance. On Creatures that do have 100% Resistance (some Dragons) they wont explode, but as soon as they do have 99% Resistance they will always explodeand always do damage.

With dispel u can take them away, and with massdispel they will all will fade away in a single cast (looks funny). Unknown is that u can also remove them with "Remove obstacle" spell (if opponent does have dispel orb). U can use this spell to "detect" landmines and quicksand if u move the spell coursor over the battlefield.

Funny thing is that the recanter cloak (no matter who wears it) makes all creatures "immun" to the landmines ...means: They will never explode if someone do have the recanters (but u see them still there). But if someone do have the Orb of Inhibition, which "allows no battlemagic" the landmines will still explode and do damage.

Ok those are some facts,

I always liked how the Tower has a moat that does damage.  When I got SOD, I was disappointed how all towns got a moat that did damage.  It lessened the uniqueness and advantages that the Tower had.

Yeah, that seriously made no sense. The price for not having a moat to go through for a Tower sieger was to take a land mine hit, then they make that silly upgrade. Whatever.
