In TOH u have such a "player rating". Itīs called "Honor" there. When u look at the players stats, u can see on the top right the Honor raiting (average, poor, high....etc...). You can rate your opponent after every game....
Let me clarify: I am talking about rating players even if you don't finish a game with them!

If someone drops all the time, is always sending you rude messages, or something nasty like that...you might NOT WANT to finish a game with them. In my opinion, I think that there should still be a way of leaving some sort of feedback or rating for other players to view...so that when they go to play this rude/nasty person/dropper, they can see what other players think of them before wasting their time.

Now, a way of avoiding that the system be abused is by having pre-selected categories for the people to choose from, when leaving feedback or rating a particular player. Similar to the system that currently exists for Xbox Live, players can rate someone as "Good Player" - "Friendly" - "Cheater" - "Vulgar Language" - "Threats/Harassment"...etc...after or even during the game itself!

Eventually, after enough people leave the same type of feedback/rating (I think it's 10), that player's profile indicates the predominant category next to their name (Ex: LE0_LI0N [Good Player]). This way, other players can see what type of people they are going to play against, even before starting the match...or...players can set their profiles to only play against certain categories of players, or to avoid certain other categories.

Don't go getting your knickers in a bunch just yet! It is very difficult to be categorized one way or another, because each positive feedback/rating negates a negative one, and vice-versa as negative ones cancel out the positive ones. In addition, after a certain amount of time or games played, a person's category will either be reset (if they were negative) or they will require more feedback/ratings to maintain their good status.

It's really an ingenious system that works for everyone involved! I must admit, though, that it is most likely a very "resource consuming" process to keep track of every single player's multiple feedbacks/ratings. But when you have money like Microsoft, who cares, right?!

ToH does have a category that allows you to rate people who are dishonorable players even if you never finished the game. Its called the hall of shame but I dont know if people who just drop a lot are bad enough to be placed there or if its only for people caught cheating. In any case, to see the people on the hall of shame list you have to actually go to the page and look over the list which is very inconvenient if u just want to do a quick check. Also the list hasent changed in months so I dont think it is even actively updated anymore The system u mentioned Leo would be nice so that player ratings automatically attach to a players profile and every player would have a rating that u could see just by looking up their profile but it is probly also a lot of work to set up.

It would be a good thing to get built though, before HoMM v is released.

another thing annoying in Heroes IV is to combat plenty of troops and you have to lose because your enemy has good troops (a pack of dragon bone )and 4 heroes with a lot ofr magic and the spells Song of peace (or equal!).

Another annoying thing I find is when a player starts a game with you...you put hours and hours into that game, then they save, and have no intention of ever continuing the game.   It is hard enough to find the time to get a game, and for people to blow off a game (where 8-10+ hours were put into it) that only requires 30% of the game to be finished, is really disturbing

My most annoying things:

-Finding out I stayed up slightly past midnight playing.

-When the enemy has a hero that keeps entering their castle, leaving it, and going back in it again and again, possibly for the entire turn.

-When the enemy has morale because they have a stupid mix of creatures. (This might might be just me, but who mixes undead with living?)

-When the enemy has peasants. (I encountered that once. . .A Heretic too.)

-When your computer ally takes any mines and such you haven't flagged, or takes it after the enemy swiped it after you.

I don't like when I play against the computer and a ghost hero appears because it can block the current scenario or get stuck into an enemy castle, prolonging the AI turn(which it's a bug, more or less).
And I find it annoying when someone finds the Grail before me(but it mostly depend on my gaming skills).
So, as a conclusion, I don't find annoying things about H3, everything's fine for me, perhaps because I got used to it.

What's even worse is when that happens with a human player. :^) :-) :v) "I hate it when I leave the castle without my troops ... without buying a spellbook ... without selling artifacts" and so on from earlier posts in this thread.

Sometimes I do, but only with Leadership. 80 Vampire Lords want to join me for free? I'll say yes.

When in the midst of a long game, I hit enter without really reading the dialog box and the hundred halflings join me for free.

I hate that. I wanted to murder them, just for practice, you know? 50 experience points or so, instead I have to dismiss them.

Bummer. They live, and get to go home and tell their families about their narrow escape.

(This HOMM attitude would be quite inappropriate in Real Life, wouldn't it?)

When your magic hero has one spell point left, and you wait overnight in a town and then you discover that the town didn't have a Mage Guild!

And you discover it when you go into a battle....

(This just happened to me!)

By the way, how do threads get rated? This one should be rated "annoying" :-)

*It just turned Week of the <un-upgraded creature> and you just built the upgrade for that creature during your last turn.

*You have a full army with plenty of creatures when a powerful wandering stack wants to join you. Do you drop your 800 Inferno Troglodytes or do you keep them and say no? Argh.

*You really need to Blind that big stack of Dwarves, but they resist the spell.

*You forget to build on any given day during Week 1.

I've never understood this -- you can still buy the creature without the upgrade, so why should the population increase not be available to you even if you've built the upgraded dwelling?

Illogical.

Another annoying thing is that, in Heroes II, the enemy would just cast a spell and run, particularly lightning bolt on my unicorns, and even when it was clear that they were winning or something.
