Down the Venom Spawn!
Incubus, are you COMPLETELY sure that the Wyvern has gone, that it's replaced with the dull venom spawn and that it won't return even in an expansion?
I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!!
Actually, I imagined the Preserve this way:
Level 1 - Centaur/Sprite
Level 2 - Elf/Dendroid (but you say that the dendroid has also gone)
Level 3 - Unicorn/Wyvern
Level 4 - Gold Dragon/Phoenix (which is very stupid - what is the difference between two fast flying units?)
I'm not sure that even one of those creatures will appear in Heroes 4, but that would be a great Preserve... The real Preserve won't be so interesting, maybe. And still - where do you know which units won't be in the game?

Hmm i just know..
We already saw most creatures.. so i can say wich one are NOT in it... Maybe some by surprice?
But wyvern is not in Preverse.. Preverse is like this
Level 1 Wolf/Fairy(seen in screenshot)
Level 2 Leprechaun/Elf(Seen in Screenshot)
Level 3 Satyr/Unicorn(Seen in Screenshot and Artwork)
Level 4 Phoenix/Gold Dragon(I just hope the phoenix is in! And the gold dragon is killed by the behemoths in that coool movie! SO i think they are in.. I HOPE NOT! but I think so... The dryad would make a much cooler creature in this town! There are already dragons.. so why put in more? There isn't a tree being in whole Homm4 ;o( That really sucks toward me.. They also Deleted the Basilisk and water elemental from the preverse.. Maranthea hated the Basilisk and the water elemental was being turnedinto only summoning creature...

You just know?
You can't just know, Incubus! Maybe you have some source of information (secret or not) that makes you be sure that the Wyvern and some other creatures are not on the game. You can't guess only on the base of screenshots...

Somethings they keep secret from all of uss... But if they say I have to keep my mouth shut and not tell it to others i will surley do that.. even when i got a fight with maranthea to Emails i will not tell it.. But this facts are just to easy! Even to guess!

Maybe I'll learn if the wyvern is in the game very soon. The Bulgarian magazine "Gamers' Workshop" has the beta of Heroes 4! And they'll write a preview in the next issue. So finally we'll understand something! (I don't know how did the magazine get the beta!)

Happy Birthday!
Today, August 6th, is my birthday. I wanted for a present the beta of Heroes 4... but I couldn't get it! Maranthea hasn't answered, I haven't contacted "Gamers' Workshop"... How long I have to wait?

About the beta
I emailed "Gamers' Workshop" and asked them to give me the beta (because I had a birthday and not only). Their boss answered very soon. Alas, he said that the beta was a press-release, that it was not for resale and that it mustn't go out of their office. I guess they don't go home and stay in the office all night long?

Don't worry you won't have both phoenixes and goldies at the same time for preserve level 4, they've been clear on the fact that every time you would have a choice, it will be between two of the three : flyer/shooter/walker, and both phoenix and gold dragons are flyers.
So you won't have them at the same time. Maybe beefed up unicorns ?

Well!
I think it's absolutely dull to have to choose between two flyers. If the Gold Dragon is gone and (as some of you guess) the Unicorn is 4th level unit, and if one of the rwo 3rd level units is satyr, who is the other? It should be flyer or shooter. I want it to be flyer because the only flyer that fits in Preserve, except the Gold Dragon, is the Wyvern! (I think it would be good if Preserv is a mix not only of Rampart and Conflux but also of Fortress)

Whyverns? Couldn't hate them more!
I have hated the whyverns ever since I first played Heroes 3 for the first time. Week, dumb-looking creatures I dispise them!
I think taking them out was a good idea, and so was disposing of gnolls, lizardmen and gogs, some of the most boring creatures in the game.
One the other hand, I am crushed by the disappearance of the Gorgons. I for one, loved them. They were my favourite Fortress creature.

Boogie Man, you understand that I can't agree with you about the wyverns. Anyway, what's that discussion about the gogs? I can say that their picture looks more evil than any of the Necropolis's creatures' pictures' (oops, pictures should not have "'"!)
I have to say that maybe in a several weeks time I'll make a big surprise.

Some people agree...
I see that there are many people who want the Wyvern to be in HoMM4 (except BoogieMan) - in one of the towns, in an expansion, as a neutral unit... Maybe I should ask Maranthea (again). If it's in the game, Maranthea will say it. If it's not, we couldn't change this but we will know without a doubt.

What if...
What if they made an expansion with five new towns. Now each new town sharing two kinds of magic, just like the gold cards in MtG.
That would mean a new town with both(50/50) death and chaos magic an one with nature and life (druidic?) and fx the FORTRESS with nature and chaos!...

2 months later
So this is my dear old thread! The first! Now it seems that there is no way for the WYVERN to be in the game. And I see an idea of Preserver from two months ago - later he made the expansion pack proposal using this chaos/death and many more... Many things changed but I want this thread back on the top because some newcomers may like the wyverns too and may want to say something... But if anything about the Wyverns can be done, it will be in an expansion pack. I almost lost hope that I will see them in the original Heroes 4...

If I send 3do my expansion pack proposal and they use it, wyverns will be back in an expansion  (Don't think it will work but I could try?...)

well i personally am glad that wyverns and gnolls are gone... also i think lizardmen SUCK. but they could make some new creatures, i mean for the expansion cus homm4 is complete already. soon my friend will come up with a list in a new forum here with possible creatures of homm IV expansion...

Preserver, I hope that they will use your expansion pack proposal... but I don't believe it. In the best case they will pick one or two of your creatures but even that isn't sure. For example, I asked 3DO many times about the return of the Wyvern but it seems that they didn't consider my suggestion. I gave them also two or three ideas about the game but I don't remember them and I think that they weren't of use. On the other hand, 3DO say that they pay attention to their fans... We'll see.
