Need some help about Olympics
Question number one - in which year did the Barcelona Olympics take place?
This is not trivia of any sort, I either don't know or am unsure of the answers to the questions I'll be asking here.

My English book says:
"during the opening ceremony of the Barcelona games, Freddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballe sang an Olympic anthem which topped the charts in many countries"
Is this statement true? And I mean the bit about Freddie and Montserrat singing on the occasion, not the chart topping bit.

As far as I know, Freddie died on 24th November 1991. I could be wrong though.

In 1987, Freddy Mercury and Monserrat Caballé got the order to create a song for the olympic games 1992 in Barcelona. One year later, the song "Barcelona" was made. And they gave many concerts to make good promotions for this olympic song.
Due to the fact, Freddy died in November 1991, during the open ceremony of the olympic games of Barcelona they showed a short video of his last concert with Montserrat when singing that song, and presenting the olympic song that way.

Wrong.
No "ordering" was involved. Freddie loved opera, especially Montserrat's voice. He dreamed of meeting the diva. A meeting was arranged on March 24, 1987. The two of them sat in silence for two or three minutes, and then Freddie said 'Well, I've got a song for you. Shall I play it?'. This was the beginning of creation of Barcelona. Barcelona (the song) was recorded in April 1987 and was first performed by Freddie and Montserrat at the Ku Club in Ibiza on may 30, 1987.
Peter Freestone: "He was on cloud nine. Freddie was up in the sky. He didn't need a plane to go home on, he was so happy. From what I know of Freddie, one of the biggest, greatest moments in his life, was when Montserrat had come over to London and put down her vocal track for Barcelona. After they'd done it, on the way home from the studio, I remember Freddie saying, 'That's it! I've done it! I've got HER voice on MY music!'"
In 1992 Barcelona was adopted as the main anthem for the Olympic Games. The single was re-issued in August, and this time peaked at No. 2. Freddie and Montserrat were to have sung it together at the opening ceremony of the games, but, following Freddie's death in November 1991, Montserrat sang it instead with Jose Carreras.
