I actually talked with Pandora about this online and it has nothing to do with the way you are running the thread.
They were merely suggestions. The issue at hand was that the mods could not give out QPs to members for contest entries because all the contest threads were being deleted.
I'm probably the only person who has issued a single complaint and that was once. I'm only trying to improve what I started. This is also a very difficult thread to manage and run, so don't feel down about what you've done at all.
Actually Leo, I wish you posted your wish to improve the thread in such a manner as this. However, I think I might have a solution.
We should have what I think could be called divisions, which will be called the following...
Random Retard Division
Tight Wad Division
The serious threads that are claimed, such as threads like Axis, Attack Iraq, etc... will be put into the collection pools of the corresponding division. So if people want to do nothing but ridiculous "Random Retard Challenges" or vice versa then they can. 
However this would bring up a special case for certain threads, that should be in both divisions, such as Mark Your Territory.

Since you are going to be busy with all sorts of reworking the thread, I will gladly help out by starting things for the tournament. Somehow I get the feeling the tournament will take much longer than Round 10 is going to last with all the contests that will take place.
So I think we should start taking submissions now. So why not give this 36 hours to sign up starting now as long as it's okay with Leo.
Edit: Leo - I have numerous ideas in the works for contests. I'll email you what I have so far.

I'm really not a fan of this random entry thing. Sure, the entries can be funny and all but I just find it to be somewhat unfair to the person who actually meets the challenge.
Especially in the case of a particularly tough challenge, it can be a lot easier to just caption a funny pic or whatever else strikes you - but if your opponant actually sat there for a few hours trying to do the task - it rather sucks if you beat em with a 2 second display of wit
Why not have a Come out fighting" type random challenge wherein there are no rules for either? as opposed to allowing a win for someone who really didn't do the task?
(this is just my 2 cents, feel free to argue at me if you disagree)

I certainly hope this is not refering to my entry in the contest against Shadowcaster over LHW. I made that pic you know, and it took me more than 2 seconds. Also, it was either that or not submitting an entry at all. The contest was both the kind of thing I'm not interested in doing and pretty tough (at least for me). I was going to not submit an entry at all, but that would suck. Random entry above no entry at all I guess.

I really had no idea is you made that specifically for the contest (which really makes no sense) or if it was one of the little things that you had made in the past and just decided to post.
Either way, my opinion stands about the entries. You say that it was hard for you, but quite concievably a lot of the different contests will be difficult for a lot of people. If everyone decides to drop the actual task and do their own thing, soon we have no real reason to be playing the contest at all.
