We should start an MYT forum.

On a more serious note, Shadow, Leo and I did some nice discussing concerning tournaments and retiring threads.

The GAME is no longer suspended!

- The Polls that I created came back with overwhelming support for my ideas, so both have been implemented!

  >Rsf has claimed Edwin
  >Shadowcaster has kept both Let's Have War & Current Thingies
  >Lord_Woock will be able to claim 1 unowned Thread.

- The Rules have been updated to reflect the "Contest idea creation process" and to reflect the "improper/illegal/off-topic" entries issue, as well. Check Specifics #7 & #8!

- The Rules have been fine-tuned to make Forum Tournaments more important in the GAME. Check Specifics #10!

- The "registration fee" for the Forum Tournament, after Round #10, has been reduced to 1 Thread in order to encourage more participation.

- I have added a Current affairs at the top of the 1st Post in each MYT Thread, so that people can quickly determine what point the GAME is at.

- "Thread-claiming" for Round #10 will continue here until 9pm on Thursday (Board-time).

- Please read the last Post of this page to understand the "3 Thread system". Thanks!

suggestion

Hey Léo,
I think that the owner of a forum should be able to challenge a retired thread (RT) that is located in his forum.

That way, it would make it possible for every thread of HC to be back in the game.

How is the voting contest going to work in the Royal Rumble Contest? Say everyone joins? People would vote in order to win, so I think it would be best that members cannot vote for themselves and vote anonymously. This means that you do not post your vote. You send an email to whomever is organizing the contest and they will tally up the votes anonymously, this way people aren't inclined to vote in ways that will benefit themselves or other specific individuals. Actually I think this might be the best way to do things period.

At my message board, you can create anonymous polls and make restricted access forums. So this means I could set it up so each member from HC, could have an account at my message board and allow them access to view the poll and vote. This would prevent alias voting and being able to see who is in the lead and who is not. I'm also pretty sure you can even close voting on polls or set times as to when they will end.

What do you all think about this system of voting? I would be more than willing to do this.

For large scale Tournaments involving many members in the same Contest, I was also thinking of using another Message Board. Since most people that usually vote in our Contests would probably be participants, they would obviously not be able to vote. Consequently, this would not leave many people to actually vote on the numerous entries.

So, if I started a Thread on a "neutral MB" asking their members to vote on our Contest entries, I could then Post a link to that Thread for all MYT members to see the final results. Their members could serve as a "neutral Focus Group" without knowing that I am from another MB.

Just an idea though...otherwise we might end up having 10 Contest entries for the Royal Rumble Tournament and only 5 or 6 total votes, for example.

Voting proposal!

May I propose something..Let just give all members/participants a number of votes in 5 groups (a=5 votes b=4 votes c=3 votes d=2 votes e=1 votes). So they will vote the entries they liked the best (except from their own) the one that gets more votes wins those who reaceive over a certain number of votes gets to keep their entries...THIS IS JUST A IDEA I haven't given much thought to it so anyone can say their opinion or add adjustments (especially Shadowcaster, Leo, RSF)!Of course it also depends on HOW the tournament will be (One great contest, multi contests etc)
I understand that this is opposing to several specific rules but what the hell this is the first tournament of the game mistakes are to happen in order to find them and restore them.Besides I believe it's worth it.

-Thanks for tolerating me

Conan, the "Thread-claiming phase" of Round #10 is over...but I messed-up! I had Posted everywhere saying that it would end at 9pm on Thursday, but I had really meant Wednesday.

So, if anyone comes to me with a claim by 9pm tonight, I will accept it...because I made a boo-boo!

TAK, I'm not too sure about that voting idea...it sounds really complicated, sorry.

As for the FORUM TOURNAMENT, it will procede after I declare Round #10 over just like any other regular Round...except that instead of claiming a Thread, people will only be able to claim a Forum!

In order to participate though, people will have to "ante-up" one of their Threads as a Registration Fee, when they Post which Forum they would like to claim here. BUT, I will declare the Tournament open later...not now, not yet!

As I said earlier, I don't think using another message board would necessarily work. I wouldn't count on people voting.

Again my recommendation is members being able to vote for the one that isn't there's and keeping it anonymous. This will work for contests with more than 6 contestants.

So I think we could keep run two polls, one at the neutral message board, and one at my board. Either way I think anonymous polls should be implimented.

So anyway, I continue to stand by my offer to invite to have the polls moved to my board, so we can do anonymous polls.

RSF, is there a way that you could show me how voting would work using your Message Board? It sounds like a promissing concept, but I'll admit that I am having trouble grasping the idea. Please let me know, as I am curious & interested!

The way the polls work is that you can't find out how many votes each person has until you vote or when the poll ends.

I can also keep people from voting more than once, by restricting access to forums, such as restricted access to mod squad.

I don't see your point.Everyone votes for they top 5(depends on the number of entries but with a top of 5) choices (enties)in the way the think is best etc
there are 20 entries I believe #3 is the best of them and then follow #8 ,#1 #20 #10 .So my votes are:
5 votes to #3
4 votes to #8
3 votes to #1
2 votes to #20
1 vote  to #10
You believe the best are #3 #1 #11 #5 #20 so..
5 votes to #3
4 votes to #1
3 votes to #11
2 votes to #5
1 votes to #20
.....
so far #3 gets 10 votes and wins the tournament.of course the rest will vote as well and the result may change .If it's a tie a second contest will be resolved in a new contest or sth else.

Anyway I redraw my 'offer' as I see no one really paid any attention and you think its compilicated.Do as you wish.I don't care whatever you choose I will just wait the results

Oh...I get it! I get them both...

Both concepts are pretty cool and functional too.

TAK, I've seen that same system used to determine the "Player of the Year" in many sports. The only difference is that the voting is counted like this:

1st place vote = 5 points
2nd place vote = 4 points
3rd place vote = 3 points
etc...
etc...

If this system is good enough for the "pros", it could very well be good enough for us! I also like how using this sytem, people can still vote for themselves 1st, but then their following votes could go too anyone else.
RSF, I could see your system being used whenever an "anonymous" vote is needed or if we decide to hide the results until after someone has voted or until the Contest is over. I don't know if your system would work though, when we have a single large Contest that leaves us with few "non-participating" people. If in the Royal Rumble Tournament, for example, 15 out of 20 members participate, the other 5 members might vote and maybe another 5 non-members might vote. That means that out of 15 entries, there might only be 8 - 12 votes...optimistically.

RSF & TAK...or anyone else, can you think of a way to combine both systems or do you have any other suggestions? I think that once I have a few different options, I might create another Poll in the VW & allow the members to decide.

For the last time, members are able to vote in the contest, just not for themselves. That is part of what I have been saying. So now that things have been clarified, what do you think now?

RSF, thanks for the explanation! Sometimes I just need to have something pounded in my head over-&-over again before I understand.

I like the idea of your system, but also like TAK's and my own. I think your's might be simpler & more dependable because it does not involve another Discussion Board or people voting multiple times and could simply be accessed by the use of a link, right? That might be easier for people to handle rather than voting 3 - 5 times in the same Contest. But, just in case...would it be possible to allow that sort of thing using your system if ever we determined it necessary for a certain Tournament or Contest?

I think that all 3 of our systems have good points and also have different perspectives that we could use in various situations. That is why I am looking to combine elements from all 3 together!

Worse-comes-to-worse we could just keep the 3 seperate systems "on-hand' and use them individually when they are needed.

Well just consider this..As you all know this is the  first tournament of MYT that means that we can test one of those suggestions and if we see it is not functional we try to fix it or try another one.
1st tournament = testing tournament
start with what seems to be the most easy and proceed!

well now that I think about it, I don't think it would work for tournaments because, I can't see who voted for who. However I can do it by email...

It can look something like this.

Follow this link to send me an email.

Title your post with this exact form writing in your name.
Quote:

Round 15 Tournament: Battle Royal: (Your Name)

Then name which entry you wish to vote for like this.

Quote:

I vote for entry #1.
