Might and Magic X- Character Creation

A huge fan of the Might and Magic series, I hope they put some serious effort into the next one.

One of my favourite parts of an RPG is the Character Creation, and IMO the more detailed and personalized you can get your character, the better.

These are my character creation ideas, how I think it should be.

CHARACTERS
You start off with a base race character as yourself. You start at level one. As you go on, you can recruit up to 4 more characters, and for the slow ones among us that totals a party of 5. Similar to the previous games, characters not recruited will stay at a local tavern.

Character Creation:
1. You first choose your gender, male or female.
2. Enter your name.
4. Choose a race.
5. Choose a body type and a face, out of a number of selections.
6. Alter the sliders to your liking. There is a slider for skin tone, size and hairstyle.
7. Choose a voice.
8. Your portrait will be your face with the selected skin tone and hair style.
9. Choose a base class.
10. Select attributes and starting skills.

RACES

Human- The most basic race, the human become adept at all classes, and most skills. They average most attributes.

Elf- Elves are light, and graceful. Quick with short weapons, and skilled with magic. They are most suited to light armour.

Troll- The strongest and most brutal class, the trolls like light armour and blunt weapons. They have a regeneration skill, and a tough hide which provides a natural armour.

Vampire- Vampires are undead, sickly, weak in strength but the opposite in the mind. They know perhaps more about death than any other race, and such can use that in their magic. They also have a regeneration skill, and can transform into bats at higher levels.

Dwarf- Dwarves are short and stubby, very strong but slow. They pack a punch just as much as they can take one; their stocky build is like a mountain. Prefer heavy armour and axes.

Lizardman- Lizardmen are scaly creatures with two arms, two legs and the head of a lizard (as seen in MM8). They are potent at magic, have a regeneration skill and excel with a bow. Tough fighters, they like medium armour and blades.

Beast- The beast is a former human, his body altered with magic to create extreme strength and endurance. They look similar to a bear-man, or a yeti type thing, with sharp fangs. They have little intelligence and almost no comprehension of magic.

Dragon- The dragon is a solitary, neutral beast of great power. As in MM8, they are not an option as a starting character as they are too strong.

Minotaur- Although in mythology there is only one, it's Might and Magic tradition to have a Minotaur, and just wouldn't be complete without them. They are strong, wise and like axes just as much as the dwarves.

CLASSES

A Base class is chosen in the character creation. They can then be upgraded to a specialist class by completing a certain quest or specializing in a certain skill. For instance, you will not be able to advance from Warrior to Knight if you are weak, or are not skilled with your weapon.
In the main quest there may or may not (depending on your journey throughout the game) be a choice between good or evil, and your choice will affect your class upgrade (ie: if a wizard chooses good he is more likely to become a Cleric than a Necromancer). A Grand Master class can sometimes be achieved by maxing out your classes main skills, and completing certain quests.

(Base) Wizard- The wizard/mage is the epitomy of the magic skill, and is one of the most versatile classes. He solely studies magic, which he channels through his body by tapping into the flow of energy through incantation and ritual. His studies are to improve the effectiveness of spells created by past mages, and to discover new spells.
Suited to: Elf, Human, Vampire, Lizardman, Minotaur

(Specialist) Druid- The druid is an upgrade to Wizard. They specialize in wielding the forces of nature in a balance of destruction and healing. Nature is magic in it's most raw form, and is easy to manipulate. Druids always strive to achieve a balance in nature, using the four elements of fire, wind, water and earth. Choosing the Druid Class in a school of magic, advancing in the right skills and completing the tasks will allow you to upgrade to a Druid.

Advances to a Grand Master Overseer.

(Specialist) Necromancer- A necromancer is a wizard who uses evil and death to bring down their enemies. Often necromancers have had a near death experience, or have seen death in some form. They use their magic to inflict pain and suffering on their foes, and they have a very adept form of destructive power. Choosing the dark path and advancing in the right skills will allow you to upgrade to a Necromancer at the School of Magic.

Advances to a Grand Master Lich.

(Specialist) Cleric- Cleric, the sworn enemy of the necromancer. The gift of life pulsates within them, and they use their magical skill to allow it to flow to other people. There is no stronger healing power than that of life itself, and this is what the clerics use against the necromancers. Choosing the lighter path and advancing in the right skills will allow you to upgrade to a Cleric at the School of Magic.

Advances to a Grand Master Messiah.

(Base) Warrior- The warrior is the epitomy of the might skill, using brute strength and battle finesse to fight and win battles. They are the masters of weaponry and armour.
Suited to: Human, Troll, Lizardman, Beast, Dwarf, Minotaur

(Specialist) Knight- An adept warrior who has advanced in the skills of war, and have been glorified in many battles. Quick, strong, and fully armoured, the Knight can be evil or righteous depending on their choices throughout the game, but it will not affect their class. Gaining special honour from the King by advancing in the right skills and completing certain tasks will allow you to upgrade to Knight.

Advances to a Grand Master Champion.

(Specialist) Berserker- The embodiment of warlike rage, the berserker fights with a blind fury and an extreme strength. Wearing little armour and wielding blunt or short weapons, they are unstable and barbaric on the battlefield. Completing rigorous tests at a berserker camp and advancing in the right skills will allow you to upgrade to Berserker.

Advances to a Grand Master God of War.

(Base) Rogue- The Rogue is swift with a dagger, and deadly with a bow. They will outsmart their foes with cunning and dangerous moves. They are the fastest of all base classes, and most skilled in ranged attacks. This class may at first seem a little useless in the Might and Magic world, not being skilled at either, but a Vampire with some daggers could kick some major ass. So far we have the might and magic choices, this, although not included in the name of the game, is the medium of both, kind of.
Suited to: Vampire, Lizardman, Halfling, Human

(Specialist) Ranger- Rangers have taken their shooting to the next level. They can draw any bow, and shoot it faster and more accurately than any man. The ranger can fight with a short sword if he needs to, but feels more comfortable at range. Advancing in the right skills and completing certain tasks will allow you to upgrade to Ranger.
The ranger, too, I think, is oft forgotten which I think it is a bad idea because, when you think about it, it makes sense to have a ranged specialist in your party.

Advances to Grand Master Dead Eye.

(Specialist) Assassin- Fastest of all, the assassin uses short weapons with deadly precision. Their knowledge of taking lives is unlimited, and they can concoct deadly potions and poisons to boost their weapons. Advancing in the right skills and completing certain tasks will allow you to upgrade to Assassin.

Advances to Grand Master Maleficus.

ATTRIBUTES
Strength (damage with melee weapons)
Endurance (health and natural defence)
Intelligence (spell points)
Wisdom (efficiency of spells)
Accuracy (damage with ranged weapons)
Speed (how fast you travel and attack)
Personality (affects how much people like you [whether they'll give you info, join you, sell you a bargain]
Wit (affecting alot of the Misc skills, Wit is how 'life smart' you are. a kind of intelligence that goes beyond books and calculations.)

SKILLS
With the skills, you gain experience by using them as normal. With kills, the person who actually gained the experience gains alloted skill points for the skill he used to kill, and the party also recieves an experience boon as a whole.

There are 3 types of skills. Magical, Combat, and Miscellaneous.

Combat: Strength, Endurance, Speed, Accuracy
-Long Blade
-Short Blade
-Blunt
-Axe
-Staff
-Flail
-Shield
-Spear
-Ranged
-Light armour
-Medium armour
-Heavy armour
-Block
(I might have forgotten a weapon or two, sorry)

Magic: Intelligence, Wisdom, Personality
-Druid spells (fire, wind, water, earth)
-Necro spells (death, pain, offensive)
-Cleric spells (life, healing, defensive)
-General spells (stat boosts, other misc. spells (telekenisis etc.)
-Magic power (amount of spell points, effect of spells)

Misc.: Wit, Personality
-Regeneration (also requires endurance)
-Stealth (how easily you can sneak undetected)
-Barter (buy stuff cheaper, sell stuff at higher price)
-Alchemy
-Enchant Item (enchanting weapons with greater proficiency)
-Repair Item
-Disarm Trap
-Perception
-Identify (item and creature)
-Diplomacy (i think this should be an important part of an RPG, the act of persuasion of strangers, friends and enemies.)

Thoughts? I doubt anyone will read it. I know I wouldn't. Good brainstorming anyway.

Maybe Dragons could be really hard to get, therefore you have to be an experienced player to get them?

Or, make them not so powerful. I still think they're cool.

And an online version would be awesome, kind of like W.O.W except of a better game.

And WoW is already an awsome game, so a might and magic online would probably be one of the best games ever!

The only M&M game I have played has been M&M9.  It's weird I haven't seen it mentioned here and just wondering why?

I found the skill levels weird though.  I mean ther is Normal then it just jumps right to Expert then Master and Grand Master.  While they were ripping off HoMM they should have just used Basic, Advanced, Expert and Master and GM if they really wanted to.  Also the class advancement quests have started to annoy me somewhat just because the promotion masters are all over the place.

Oh well seeing as how I just got MM9 two weeks ago for if they did release a X it would be quite a while before I started to worry about it.

yeah it is.  I mean my favourite part about might and magic is having the pride of that you know that you can fight and kill dragons, but the only dragon in that one you have to be about level 99 just to stand ten seconds against it.  plus it has nothing to do with the others.  see, that's why I want erathia back.  I mean where the heck did the kreegans go?  on second kreegans, the next evil one eyed red monsters covered in chrome armour who claim to be demons.  or giant gold ones with four eyes, skulls for hands, and wings greater demons.  or the frost giants, thats not might and magic, that's some kind of game about an alternate viking universe.

Another thing about M&M9 is that in order to reach new levels of abilities you have to be trained in them plus you have to have spent enough skill points to get them to the level to upgrade them.  One thing about the trying to build a ranger I don't like is that he can only be level 2 bow when he is a crusader and then ounce he's a ranger, boom, now he can goto level 4.  Plus it might just be me but don't you think that a Paladin should be able to reach GM Shield?  but nope only the gladiator can.  Also you would think that an Asassin should be able to achieve GM archery but nope there not.

Also they should have added a Loot skill to the game. Of course the only one to get that to GM should be asassin and close behind the ranger and gladiator to M but of course maybe the paladin not at all as well as priest.

Also note that the mage and the Priest can only get to level 2(Expert) in Dark magic.  Only one to be able to take that to 4(GM) is the Lich.

Hey what fighting mode do people use/like most often durring the game?  For guys that do nothing but stand and shoot stuff I just keep my distance and shoot them to death in RT but for those pesky guys who rush you it's TB.
