PS3 vs X-Box360
I'll start with my opinion.
they are both so different in the way they work. right now, its like the PS2 vs GC
PS3 is going for straight gaming, like Nintendo did with the GC.
X-box360 is going for the entertainment system.
kinda like PSP vs DS actually maybe moreso.
the PS3 is Stronger then the X-Box360 (but at this point does it matter?)
PS3 allows for 7 controls as is, (which I find to be a weird number, why not 8?) controllers recharge when plugged into the system, so having a second controller is probably a good thing, to charge one while the other is in use.
PS3 is supposedly 35 times faster then PS2
X-Box360 is supposedly 10 times faster then X-Box
(X-box was 2.5 times faster then PS2) so PS3 is roughly 30% stronger then X-Box360 (2.5x10/35)
X-Box comes out september/october PS3 with nintendo most likely march/april 2006
X-Box is supposed to have 40-50 games at launch  as opposed to the normal 15-20 :S for a system launch. this either means publishers have high oppinions of the X-Box and feel there is no worry producing for this system before it even comes out. OR they will make 5 good games, and have 55 completly crappy games just for the sake of saying there are 50 titles.
I havent heard of PS3's launch titles, except for I believe GT4 and FF XII should be a couple of them (of which are some of my favorite games  ) and Grand Theft Auto 4 may be coming out at launch.
The X-Box and the PS3 look like if you stood them on top of eachother they would fit into eachother, which is odd.
the X-Box closes in in the center, and the PS3 bulges out at the center. (both of which are weird in my oppinion)
Both use wireless controls.
Both are HDTV (X-Box360 is 1080i PS3 is 1080x1920 x 2 displayes thats right no more split screen !! res or 1080p)
X-box supposedly works like Tivo, which may be the only reason I buy it. a cheap PVR. also X-Box360 can connect to a PSP.
PS3 can use a PSP as a Controller.
but lets move onto some E3 news stories.

Good stuff, Draco!
Those links were very informative, especially the Reuters' one about how the Xbox 360 will be backwards-compatible. I was wondering when Microsoft would make up their minds about that. I'm glad to hear that they are going forward with it, as I wouldn't want to avoid breaking out my Xbox everytime that I want to play Halo 2 or something...
I'm a little worried about the mention of only having top selling games being backwards-compatible, though...it might suck if some of my favourites get left out.

Ya not to mention, how do you make some games backwards compatible and not others?
I mean isnt it all or none sorta thing? your DVD reads something one way or it doesn't?
oh well im no computer engineer or anything

It's too early to make a real choice. I'm going to wait and find out more, I mean there is hardly any info on the PS3.
The only reason I'm leaning towards XBOX360 is because of similar good controller to XBOX, free online play, and great list of upcoming games (Halo3, Elder Scrolls 4, the other Bungie game (Phoenix or something).
Also from what I read about the XBOX360, they kept in mind the size, price (good) and the hardware compared to the PS3 (better), and built around that.
Also why would you want to use a PSP as a controller? The controlling on the PSP isn't it's strong point.
I also never really liked the PS2 classics (Final Fantasy Kingdom Hearts Killzone )

Where did you hear the PS3 had worse hardware? the only thing it lacks is Ram (which im sure isnt an oversight, more that they dont need it)
Using a PSP could be usefull, they stole the Idea from Nintendo, I would use my GBA as a control and I have for zelda but the problem was the lighting otherwise its a neat idea.
to each their own though. I may end up with both as much as I end up with none. time will tell.

As the articles said, the games are the most important element. We all have DVD players and computers, so having a console that can play movies & CDs and store images is just a nice bonus, but it's not a do-or-die necessity.
It will be interesting to see how things play out, but personally, I must admit that I am not too keen on buying another system. I didn't get the PSP or the DS because I now prefer reading a book instead. I don't play much Xbox now days either because I spend alot of time here on HC or because I watch tv & movies with my wife.
I guess that I'm just out-growing video games, now that I think about it. I'm more interested in good stories and interesting characters, rather than getting as many kills as possible or accumulating the most money. For example, I really enjoyed playing Halo 2's campaign mode and have lost the taste for Xbox Live deathmatches. Another example is that, to this day, I still find Final Fantasy III (I think it was #6 in Japan) one of my favourite games ever...not for the RPG elements and whicked spells, but for it's incredible story-line and characters.

Ive always been a sony boy, and it looks like its going to continue!  I cant wait for the release of the PS3, and am very much looking forward to what has been promised..
However one concern mentioned on 1 of the sites was the issue of prices, not only the console price, but the games. I wouldnt be surprised if the xbox 360 and ps3 had starting price tags over $1,000, which means i probly wont be getting 1 for a while  and i also am concerned about the game price hike expected, games are already expensive enough but i they were to to increase by even 50%, woah dont even want to think about it..

Yeah from what I've heard, price was one of Microsoft's prime concerns as it was one of the reasons more people bought PS2's.

Uhh this might be me, but in Australia PS2's were more expensive then xbox's always have been, and at the moment still are over $100 more.. but that might be different for you...
That game looks alright, but i guess im more looking forward to that sort of graphics and such going with a GTA or a GT or MGS...

it seems as though PS3 may come out at the same price PS2 did, still friggen expensive but well worth the money.
40,000 yen is the current rumour. which is under 375$US 470$ CDN

I've never played Devil May Cry, I think that's what you're talking about?
Well anyway, what I'm hanging out for is Ninja Gaiden 2.
Jesus, it's hard to believe that they could possibly improve on those graphics. NG has the best graphics I've ever seen in a game, on any system. And it's bloody hard too, I was just playing it the other day.
Most random game ever, too. First you're fighting ninjas, then mutants, then aliens, then skeletons, then wizards, then dragons, then tanks and rocket launchers... Fun though.

Ninja Gaiden is the 2nd hardest gamer ever to be made, with DMC3 being the hardest game ever(Statistics and stuff show this, not just something i'm pulling out of a hat)
Ninja Gaiden was the hardest game before DMC3.. Dunno the game though
But you must try DMC.. the games are just so wicked

I wouldn't call it the second hardest... it's hard but not that hard. If you put it on the highest difficulty it is, but then Halo 2 on Ledgendary is incredibly hard too.
Do you have Ninja Gaiden?
I hadn't played it in ages before just the other day, because I got stuck at the helicopter right after the two tanks, I just couldn't beat it.
But eventually I did, you just have to know exactly what to do and when
If you have it, where are you up to?

Personally i think DMC3 is really hard, but only at the bosses... the normal creatures are pushovers..

What I think!
Nintendo:
Nintendo has like Mario and stuff like that, but nothing real,
not much games for the older people. I think Nintendo is for 10 years and younger.
X-Box
I think xBox is very different. It doesn't really have much kiddie games, but not that powerful. xBox is good if you are 11 or over to 18, because all of the school kids are gonna tell you that it's cool, so you'll just get one.
