Trailer!
In my opinion, the H5 trailer looks great, although it's just the intro and tells nothing new about the game itself.
What did you think?

Looks fine, but why did the Knight (I presume) summon a Bone Dragon?

See the "E3 news" thread for a possible explanation... although it sounds strange.

Pretty Cool
Terje wrote:Quote: Looks fine, but why did the Knight (I presume) summon a Bone Dragon?
Hmm...Perhaps he is a Death Knight?
Vlaad, thanks for posting this, since I was not even aware that there was a trailer released! Very cool indeed.
Not that you can ever tell much from just a trailer, (except perhaps where the storyline will go), but I would like to say that I hope all the wonderful graphics (screenshots included) do not burden my system too much. With Heroes IV, I experienced a slight lag at times with my desktop (P4 1.5 gHz, 768 mb RAM, Ge/Force FX 128 mb video card), but mostly while loading maps/save games. So basically, I won't mind shelling out $50 for Heroes V, but I would hate to have to upgrade my system for smooth gameplay.
Thanks again.

Perhaps because he just seconds before defended a Haven/Castle town?

Yeah, I've started to believe that the Angel we've seen this far has just been an unupgraded Angel. Like, you know, the Angel in H3 looked more youthful than the Arch Angel. I hope that they've done something similar here.
Although MArelt Ekiran mentioned somewhere that he thought that they'd perhaps implemented the "Archaven-Upgrade":
Quote: The basic of it is that rather than a linear upgrade of griffin --> Royal Griffin, you don't actually change the creature, but add accessories and special abilities to it as a means of upgrade. So if you buy plate armour for your griffin, the thing with still be a griffin, but it will have improved defense.

Oh Damn!
Awesome! I've got $50 bucks waiting to be spent! C'mon Ubisoft show me the goods I have the money.
I felt like it reminded me of the sort of setting that Diablo was in. Which, in my mind, is a DAMN-GOOD-THING! w00t!
I'd pay $50.00 for this game. You betcha

Well, I'm afraid the trailer has nothing to do with the game itself. Very nice castle, which you will not find in the game. Very nice creatures which you will not find in the game. Gloomy atmosphere... certainly not in the game. At this moment the minds of those from Nival are a mistery to me. They pooped those creatures in the screenshots and then made this trailer? Why?
Not that I've seen the "angel" (or the guardian?) of the castle (what could have been) I'll cry next time I see that blue horibility they call angel. Maybe for the Heroes6 Nival can make the movie and some other company the game.
And for those who want to pay the 50 bucks... why? you've already seen the movie, free. The rest must be worth about $1.
And what is so hard to understand about the bone dragon? No, that's not a death knight. No, he does not summon the dragon. yes, he dies. Yes, the humans are allied with the necros, remember? Wasn't that easy?

i had some trouble with video quality (looked extremely dark and foggy) but to me it looked like the bone dragon appearing did have something to do with the knight. maybe bone dragon was summoned out of his body?

This trailer is cool, but it has a dark and realistic atmosphere. Which i love btw. But cant understand those of u who claim all the time that they liked the cartoony look of heroes2, but still prefer this trailer to the in-game screenshots, which are obviously more jolly than this.

I think that is a good question. I liked more the H3 style than the H2, and loved the "fairy-realism" of towns and creatures, so that's why I probably like more the trailer than the screenshots. However, one person can have more than a taste for something, so I both love the H2 and Diablo2 for instance; one is colorful, the other is dark and bloody. It's hard to tell why.
The problem is that in H5, from my perspective at least, they have modernized a lot the view and added distinct touches of computerized new-age cartoons, which in my opinion distort the old characters in a vulgar way. Basically they add a lot of armor and they oversize the extremities in an attempt to suggest force. They also combine different symbols and characteristics (to be seen the champion, who is a master of "babel-ism"). And they can't refrain from using different styles, which is also not good. Both Heroes and Diablo used to be constant in depicting the atmosphere.

LOL whats with the battle between the angel and the devil thing? That angel looked like a blind swordsman on steroids, and one certainly would have anticipated it to be more evenly matched...
