I saw The Blues Brothers (1980) recently. It's a pretty funny movie with good music. They have stars like James Brown, Ray Charles, Carrie Fisher, and John Candy as cameos. Altogether, it's very hilarious. There's a fun chase scene at the end, too.

It's too bad Belushi passed away.

That's a really entertaining cartoon, although I've often said that I'm embarrassed as a viewer by how stupid it is. Some of the humor is a bit cheesy, and I can't help but smirk at the awkward funniness. I am a forgiving person, so I'll call it an innocent show (even though I can't stand that Spongebob laugh!)

I'm not sure about movie versions yet, but I thoroughly enjoyed two different episodes that dealt with subjects such as edited-out cussing and trying not to disturb hibernating female squirrels.

Disney Animated Films

Fantasia (1940) was my first favorite Disney animated film. I love the scene with the dancing mushrooms.

I think the most recent animated films from Disney are not very magical anymore. To be honest, the last one I really cared for was Mulan (the first one) since it was a really nice story. The second one is not up to par with the original, I hear. I thought Hercules was a bit flimsy; too much pointless dialogue from the trainer guy and the Hades character.

At the risk of sounding like an aging backward spoil-sport, I think today's Disney cartoons are way too commercialized by adding secular humor and controversial innuendos; the things today's modern world likes to see. Like I said about magic; it's quickly selling out to bring in more profits and better ratings. My apologies to those who enjoy these movies; I'm just growing way too old way too soon.

More about Disney movies later on...

WHOA!!! This is, like, totally psychedelic DUUUUUDE!!!

***Old Movie Spoiler Warning***

One afternoon maybe eleven or twelve years ago, I went into the TV room and there was Disney's 1951 cartoon film "Alice in Wonderland" showing. My sister had been watching it, but she left the room to do something else. So I sat down and watched it; it was near the end where Alice meets the Queen of Hearts. As you may recall from the movie, Alice eventually gets chased by virtually every character in Wonderland, ending in a whirling cyclone of colorful angry faces charging at her. She barely escapes via waking up from a dream.

That's pretty much the end of the movie. So when it ended, I got up and lay myself down on the livingroom sofa to take a nap. That's when the funny things started to happen.

I had these really odd dreams. I dreamt my whole living room was painted in a reddish tinge and the atmosphere felt very hot and stuffy. Then I saw the Queed of Hearts marching with an army of animated cards all across the ceiling, to do who knows what. This kept on going for a time, and then I woke up.

In fact, I woke up with a very high fever. It just sprang upon me, from what I remember. My mom gave me a thermometer and, boy, did I have a temperature!

I promise you that this happened for real. I remember that day almost too clearly. That was probably my first and only experience with psychedelia. And to think a Disney cartoon helped to make it happen! I just thought I'd share this crazy but truthful story of what really happened to me. I've never tried drugs, I promise.
