20 minute data transfers that have never been thoroughly fixed
My first online h4 game was with pandora, we actually were telling each other when we ended turns, then counted the minutes til we received data. It got progressively longer over time as the memory leak took over.
It was such a bad release, full of bugs, and the game wasnt that good anyway. It had the chance to win over a legion of faithful ToH playing h3ers but it failed utterly...because it was bad.
Note...this was not a question but a statement on a scale of 1-10 I give it a 4

Why rehash old ground? the h4 debate has been goin on for yrs and yrs, you cant change anyones opinion at this point, they either like it, or they dont.

why dont u tell us whats so good about Homm 4 and we try to prove you wrong. (not that im saying homm 4 is bad) just a sugestion

my point isnt to prove that H4 is good by its strong points but to prove H4 is good by that it has few weak points

As someone mentioned before, I'm afraid there's too big an involvement of individual preference when it comes to those who like something and others who don't. The danger here is that this might turn into an argument where one side tries to declare the other side's personal preferences as the "wrong" way to think. While that may not be intended, the discussion might slip casually into that direction. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that there will be no true convincing that Heroes 4 is a good or bad game. A_R_F has had a positive experience in H4, and nobody will be able to tell him otherwise. Equally, those who did not like the H4 for various reasons are not guaranteed be swayed by somebody else's argument, however strong or weak it may be. The only real way for a person to change his/her opinion on liking the game or not is by actually replaying the game for themselves. It won't always work, but it might.
I dunno if this makes sense, but that's just my thought on the matter.

1)sorry, i meant things about the game itself like gamelay, graphics, bugs. i dunno much about why patches and that stuff dont work

Homm IV combat...
When trying to seige a castle I really really hate the way the defending castle creatures stand on "pillars"...
I loved the Homm III castle seiges! I still do, I bought Homm IV, the second game I ever bought(Homm III was the first), but it really was a waste of both time and money!!
When I played Homm II I looked forward to Homm III and Homm III was no dissapointment at all! Homm III was so much better!! And later on I looked forward to Homm IV, but.. I've never been so dissapointed in my whole life!! They distroyed the graphics of Homm! It's awfull!! I hate the graphics, the battles (corner to corner), specially the castle seiges.... only thing good is the skills.... though you have to play a XL map for ever to get max skills... that is too much!!!

My remark about the supposedly existent hex grid seems to have been ignored, so I will rephrase:
If you, ARF, think that there is a hex grid in Heroes of Might and Magic 4, then I would very much like to know what you think a hex grid is.

Some skills, spells and creatures are too good.
Take the following order spells: precision, displacement, teleport, forgetfulness, town gate, mass slow, berserk, hypnotize.
To make my last game more challenging, I disabled most of these.
Like precision, a level one spell, removes all range and obstacle penalties and gives +25% on ranged attack. So with one obstacle and at distance, you will do 500% damage. That's better than dragon strength, a level 5 spell.
Berserk and hypnotize allow you to fight any size of army without help of creatures. You just cast mass slow, let them kill eachother with berserk or hypno, and when they get close you teleport, flee or town gate.
You try it again a few turns later on a 90% slaughtered army, until your illusions/ice bolts/fists can finish them.
You could call it a feature of the game, but it is too simple.
GM stealth is too good, especially on XL maps.
But all of those things can be fixed.
