The end of the magic era, and the rise of mankind (Fanfic)
Aye lad, sit down and enjoy a tale of old times, passed down from my grandfather. Back from when dragons and heroes ruled the lands of Erathia. When magical war’s raged freely, creatures you never dreamt of roamed these very lands that you walk on. Don’t believe me? Well sit down and listen, and you will.
Quite before your time, magic was everywhere, it was the very essence of life. It was in every creature and being that walked this planet, whether they be good or evil. Wizards use magic to animate inanimate objects, Necromancers used it to bring back the dead. Unfortunately, this very magic led to the destruction of itself. You see, wars were constantly raging between good and evil. Alliances were signed and broken almost every second of the war. They were unstable times. Summoning, Alchemy, Necromancy, Animation were constantly being practiced.
What no living (or non-living) being knew, is the magic had a limit. Every time a piece of stone was animated, every time an infernal creature was summoned, every time a soul was raised from the dead, the leftover particles of magic were released. They disappeared after a short while, but if cast too rapidly, they would group up and cause problems. Small blips of random energy, often having minor catastrophic effects.
Over a short period of time, magic use increased dramatically, whether it be vassals fighting over land claims, or demons fighting over living, it was everywhere. blessings, cursings, invoking the elements, you name it. These things were not meant to be harnessed by any mortal. The final straw came between a friendly game between a foolish wizard, and a foolish necromancer. They decided to have a little fun. It was this epic battle that started it all. The straw that broke the camel’s back you could say. The level of rogue magic in the atmosphere was already exceeding its normal amount. Then something happened similar to dropping a flame into a dead swamp. The wizard shot a harmless lightning bolt at the necromancer. The lightning exploded into a spell the power of Armageddon, and it all began.
Magic was being sucked out of everything living, many beings were unable to survive the sudden change. It is unknown why humans were chosen to live. Perhaps the gods have a divine purpose. Beasts and Men alike began dying. Many creatures were driven to extinction. Some are in hibernation, waiting till the day when magic returns to these lands. The remnants of magic were being moved into one vortex, seemingly ready to explode. Then, before you could blink, it was just...gone. The entire lands were devastated, suddenly war meant nothing anymore. Species extinctions rose dramatically every second, as no surviving members were found. Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, Fairies, were few among the many who did not survive. The only surviving sentient creatures were humans. Thus, the new era was deemed the era of mankind.
So lad, how was the story? Are you a believer now? Great, now you had best be go on now, before your parents find you here. As for me, I have much more…Important things to do.

Brilliant story, 2X. You write very well; almost as good as I do. 
We definitely need more H3 fanfics around here. There's more to life in the Library than just sharing strategies; I think fiction would be another great thing to fill it with. Folks, we're standing on a gold mine. So keep writing!

this is just sad and wierd
2Xtreme has written a great story but he needs to bump it in order to get feedback from mambers
why is this?
there is no reason for it not to be seen. HC is active and everything. its just weird
