It would be easier for us if u would make your links clickable by setting "(url)" and "(/url)" at the start and the end of your links. (use [] these brackets instead of () these!)

Steve, I was never keen on yahoo groups (whatever happened to your WoG Rebels, by the way ? I went to the army and didn't stay in touch.) So, my problem was finding my way there.

Could you please organize the map files better? I understand you are limited by webspace here, but some folders would be nice. Simply adding maps by alphabet makes it hard to search for the ones you need.

Anyway, you could sort them by language, size or even type (if possible). Speaking of which, are those links on the group to sites or maps (WoG, Purple, etc)?

In addition, unfinished maps should not be uploaded, no matter how promising they may be.

I don't like the idea of group sites on Yahoo much either. Especially having to solve what those numbers and letters are to join a group. But it's just one of the evils I guess. The puzzle solving part of it all is not my doing.
I think Overlord abandoned the project for reasons only he could explain. I thought it had promise as well, but the group fell to the way side. I lost internet connection and Overlord had some problems of his own. Then, like you say, you went into the Army. And Diemios went into a different direction. So, the promise of an alternative Add-on to WoG just never saw completion.

I hopefully answered your questions on the site.

You don't have to sign up to Yahoo, you just have to join the group for the various map sites. I know it's a pain to sort through those letters and numbers, I hate it. But once your in, you'll have access to tons of maps and Links to the other Map Archive sites and other Hero related sites as well.

What about WoG maps? I can see you've started uploading those. Do you need the mapmakers to send their work or do you download the scenarios from other sites?

I can send you the latest updates of all my maps (seven, more than 1 MB though)... However, I would like to see them as zipped files, with all "read me" and picture stuff. You know how important those are for custom WoG scenarios! I say this because some of your maps don't have the text files.

Updates is what we're all about. And, yes, texts are very important to the WOG maps. A lot of the maps I've uploaded don't have text, remember. Your maps, along with the pcx's will stay intact in a zip file for each map package.
I've gotten these maps from various sites, yes. But the bad grammar came with the download. Hopefully, those people who see the maps on the WoG Archive site already have the map and text and want the corrected map or the updated one. I have been replacing objects in snow with the snow covered objects, unless they're scripted. If you want to replace those you can, or I'll do it, or, I'll leave it alone, your choice of course.
But your updated files will be posted as is, unless you want little changes that won't affect gameplay. Such as those I mentioned above, for example.

I am sending you a huge package... first thing tomorrow morning!

Please, do NOT edit my maps in ANY way. As far as I remember, I always used snow-covered objects. I am not sure about old scenarios, though... However, are you aware you could overlook a script and make a mess...?

Besides, I am an English teacher and I NEVER make speling misstakes!

All new maps to the Archives are posted in Archive VI.

Thanks! But it just was'nt me. Pol made the site(s) workable. After all, he IS the moderator of all the sites. He's prepared a "Group Link" which connects all 8 sites from the front pages of each group site. So when you start on Archive one, scroll down a ways and click the "Here" button and it takes you to Group 2 and so on. This takes you through each site until you hit the Campaign Archive, which takes you back to Group 1. It's very handy this way instead of dealing with the Links page to get from site to site. Everybody needs to check it out and see for themselves.
Also at the bottom of the Group pages are "Related" Links. Map Archives I - VI related links give you the WOG Map Archives, and the WoG Archives give you the first Archive. It's as easy as we can get to go from one site to the next for now.

At last count, there are over 1500 maps to choose from. Mostly all medium, large and extra large.

We now have a search Engine and Database over on the Archives to make map searching just a little bit easier.

We have also just added 35 portraits from the game Master of Magic to use in Homm3 on Map Archive VI. For fans of MoM, you can now have all your favorite Heroes in your Homm3 games. Enjoy! :-)

Just entered the first set of portraits from Dark Omen. These are the human/allied portraits. 23 sets in all so far. PLUS: a set of the original vampire Vlad Dracula. These turned out quite well. All the Dark Omen Portraits are now up. 3 sets in all with something like 50 portraits to choose from.

We've also added some new maps to all sites. The Map Index in the database will give you more information.

There are around 1800 or so maps from these group sites to choose from.

Pol, the Groups' Co owner, has just added some rare hard to find screenshots on Map Archive 1. Some of these are extremely hard to find and are worth looking at. And with WoG, they may even be able to be used in a map somewhere.

On Map Archive 6, we've put up our own version of Hero Portrait numbers in the Photos section. We've also discovered the missing hpl/hps numbers for Roland. If you've wanted to replace Rolands Pic, now you can! On Map Archive 2, we've added some official 3DO creature Pics that are great to view.

We have also added close up pics of all the Artifacts on Map Archive 3. Enjoy!

Thanks Corribus. We have many things going on it seems. We have Chinese members joining and they will have maps to add to what we have already. Also, we plan a joint venture with the Chinese so they can translate English to Chinese and Chinese to English. We already have the map Chaser the English Version up on WOG Archive 2. And I invited them to translate the classic Painted: The Misfit into Chinese. And there is a team of 11 Chinese Translators who will translate many of the RoE,AB and SoD maps up on the Archives. I think they will be doing The Lord of War into Chinese. (Should be interesting).
We also would like translators who would volunteer whatever time they could into translating other maps into whatever language they want. Since this is more of an interglobal community at the Archives, it would be nice to have ALL maps translated.
If all goes well, Pol and I have discussed making an Archive site just for Translated maps.
Speaking of Pol, he is in the process of making a unique Campaign. This one it seems he is not just "throwing it together." He is being rather meticulous with it and concentrating on a very unique storyline. It's a massive project.
We have added tons of Photos, lots of close ups on all pictures from HoMM3 on just about all the sites now.
As of this post, we have over 675 members in all 10 of the Archives. This with the sites being only 2 months old or less. It's an indication that HoMM3 and WoG are far from being dead. The game, as old as it is, is still very popular despite some peoples' belief.
More news will be posted as things happen. For those unfamiliar with any of the group sites, here is the complete list of all the Archives:

Addresses for Homm3 Map Archives:

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/bytebanditmaps3/  Maps G to L

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/bytebanditmaps5/  Map S to T

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/bytebanditmaps6/  Maps U to Z plus portraits

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/campaignarchive/  105 Campaigns

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/campaignarchive2/  More Campaigns

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/wakeofgodsmaparchive/  185 Maps

The information about Heroes 3 Online are very scarely seeded through the internet, the producer is taito.co and it supposed to be MMoRPG - Multi Massive online RPG, that's all what I was able to figure.

Somehow I have strong feeling, that this game will be very different than our usuall homm3 + WoG mod.

Pics thing ... I collected some sketches (famous Forge unit Naga tank and Scorpio) and some backgrounds and some screenshots too. Steve adds tons of portraits - last ones are chinese heroes on bb6 and also lots of others useful resources. (Tools for manage your homm3 and Wog are here as well, same as ERM scripts, and links to "affiliated" sites )

Here you may look on chinese style
(first set)
