Discussion about Academy

I watch some topics from ubisoft forums and i found information about that Academy is confirmed town! So now I hope that is true because i create topic ready.

We have 4 town now and we get 1 more old town anymore so I think they do something to include some chaos, nature, Academy and Stronghold creatures game anyway.

Now we know we get some Academy creatures in the game (genies?, nagas?, titans?). But what creatures we will get and ubisoft say something about shaking towns? So I think also that they will include some other town creatures in Academy. Maybe chaos/warlock or stronghold?

I think nature town will get own town and stronghold have something to do with a new town or some of them are neutral creatures. goblin example is crazy and chaotic creature. So they can be a something like rogue creatures with black ropes. Can they?

So in my opinion they will include some chaos creatures in Academy or Academy will get own town.

But what is your predict about creatures? Who is the god who they worship? Dragon of air?

I'd say they will use the creatures from H4's order.
What I would like to see in this town,
is the Dragon Golems. They were cool in H4.

For their god:
Dragon of air would be the thing to chose,
but maybe there is a Dragon of Magic?

Anyhow, it's waiting for the screens and concept art.

I have nothing against the concept of dragon golem (except that it's one more dragon added to already too many) but I really hated the H4 one. That sort of dwarf-hands-on-wheel-controlled semi-itsybitsy-spider-doggy was hardly a dragon in my view.

    Let's take a look at Heroes III "Tower" creatures:
(I personally loved III because you can build and upgrade everything)

Gremlin -> Master Gremlin (become ranged)
Gargoyle -> Obsidian Gargoyle (speed change, just black)
Stone Golem -> Iron Golem (more magic resistance)
Magi -> Arch Magi (reduces spell points for Hero)
Genie -> Master Genie (becomes random spellcaster*)
Naga **-> Naga Queen (No enemy retaliations)
Giant -> Titan (becomes ranged)

*=beneficial spellcaster not an attacking spellcaster
**= same

    Which brings me to my point, I enjoyed every creature in heroes III.  The Gremlins were quite special even though they had low health of 4, but would become ranged when upgraded to Master Gremlins.  The Gremlins have to be reintroduced to the "Academy"

   The Gargoyles, a whole other story, didn't seem to have any special attribute about them, except they seemed as though they were undead (ex: not being affected by morale nor by any means of the spells "Resurrection" or even "Animate Dead".  I truly couldn't care if they kept the Gargoyles out of the "Academy".

   The Golems were slow but strong, every town has their brute.  So golems have to stay in the "Academy"

   Now comparing the looks of the Magi in Heroes III and VI, I would like to stick with the Magi art from the 3rd one.

   One thing I could never comprehend in the 3rd Heroes game was the fact that the genie looked like a girl, but when upgraded it looked like a guy?

   Nagas... I mean where would Fafnir be if he didn't have his Nagas, honestly. (If you don't know who Fafnir is, play Heroes III)

   Titans, my favorite unit, my older brother and I would argue about which was stronger an archangel or a titan.  We never settled that dispute...  Anyways, the Giant/Titan has to stay in the "Academy"

-----------------------------------------------------

    Now I compare Heroes IV "Order" Creatures:

(For those of you who never played IV, there are no upgrades towards any of the creatures.  Also you are limited to building the one creature dwelling.)

Halfings (can build along with dwarves)
Dwarves  (can build along with halflings)

Gold Golems (choose between these two)
Magi        (choose between these two)

Genies      (choose between these two)
Nagas       (choose between these two)

Titans        (choose between these two)
Dragon Golems (choose between these two)

    The three major creature changes from the "Tower" to "Order" were the Halflings, Dwarves, and Dragon Golems.

    I personally thought that Dwarves should stay with the Rampart, but HEY there was no Rampart in Heroes VI!  It was called "Nature" which was a cross between the conflux and the rampart.

    The Halflings, the things that took my Gremlins spot (sniffles).  They should have stayed as outcasts, like they did in Heroes III.

    Dragon Golems, I have to agree with Vlad on this, but there were too many Dragons, as well as Golems in Heroes III.  How could they get rid of the Rust, Azure, Crystal, Green, Gold, Red Dragons in Heroes VI!  Don't forget about the stone, iron, and diamond golems too!

These guys look conservative to me, so expect to see back in the academy: titans, mages, golems, genies and nagas. Fill up the rest with whatever, anyway all previous choices had no unity (gremlins, dwarves, gargoyles, halfings)

I'm predicting the following for Academy creatures: halflings and titans will be back, mages will be a midlevel spellcaster like Inquisitors, golems will be "backbone of the army," nagas will be a higher level melee unit, and genies will be back.  Dwarves will go back to the Nature town, D.G,'s will be kicked out of the game, and Ubi will throw in another unit that will be something like the H3 gargoyle (a fast low-level flier).  They have shown a willingness to add at least a few creatures never before seen in the Heroes series (Succubus, Wight) and Order was an irritatingly slow town in H4.

1. Halfling (shooter)
2. Fast Flier (flier, obviously)
3. Golem (melee)
4. Magi (spellcaster)
5. Genies (spellcaster)
6. Nagas (melee)
7. Titan (shooter)

Again with the halflings, I have a question were they part of the "Tower" if there was a "Tower" place in Heroes II?

In my opinion, Nagas and Genies are also a must in the "Academy".  The least they could do is make the units from the artwork they used for those two in Heroes III. (I didn't like the brown naga, the black/white Naga Queen covered in gold tickled my fancy in a good way, no not that)

The Roc/Thunderbirds as a god for them.... I don't know where that came from, but weren't they part of the "Stronghold" in heroes III and even the "Might" place of heroes IV.

I'd have to agree with Malekith on his opinion of the Dragon of Air.  Why you ask?  Well if you can recall the grail structure of the "Tower" in Heroes III, it was a skyboat.  I'm just going on a limb here and saying "Well hey that there looks like it could be a representation of what they use to worship their god."

Dragon of Air
Dragon of Magic
Dragon of the Universe

whatever it is, it has to do with the sky. (Yes I know that Rocs/Thunderbirds are flying creatures, but it just doesn't fit the whole "magic" thing of the "Academy")

As Malekith has so rightly stated, the Academy is a confirmed town for Heroes V. It first made its appearance in the Heroes series in Heroes II, under the name of 'Wizard'. It was a more basic line-up in those days, oriented towards magic, but it was only in Heroes III where the so called 'traditional' Tower creatures emerged, like the Genie and the Naga. The Genie was a powerful neutral creature in Heroes II, and the Naga was not in the game at all.
The Heroes II Wizard Line-up
1. Halfling (shooter)
2. Boar (walker)
3. Iron Golem -> Steel Golem (walker)
4. Roc
5. Mage -> Archmage
6. Giant -> Titan
Of these creatures, the Boar should go, in my opinion, that was just a quick solution since the gargoyles were already in Warlock at the time, and Dwarves were in Sorceress (where they belong, in my opinion).

The Heroes V Academy town will keep that 'magical' image about them, as the Necropolis town's magic department is formed from undead wizards from the Academy. The Liches are described to be wizards who strayed from the path as it were. I too believe that magi will be back as a spellcaster for them, perhaps an archrival for the lich, as Titans vs Black Dragons.

Heroes III saw a turn from a neutral landscape for the Tower into an icy plain. Introduction of creatures such as gargoyles I think are incongrous with the rest of the towns style. The Gremlins were fine, if not a little generic, but the way they were depicted suited the town. The Golems will definitely be back - they add the dimension of magic resistance to the town. The Naga's depiction in Heroes III was admirable - it was well with the layout of the town, but in Heroes IV, they changed it into more of a desert-like snake and was again another creature that didn't suit the terrain.

I believe the Academy will retain its icy landscape for Heroes V. It appears that every town has a native terrain in Heroes V. So far we have:
Haven: Grassland
Inferno: Volcanic
Necropolis: Dead Woodland
And I imagine the others to read something like
Nature: Forest/Water
Academy: Ice/Snow
Unknown Town: Underground or Swamp

Halflings made a return and Dwarves changed from Rampart to Academy in Heroes IV, and we witnessed the introduction of the Dragon Golem, but, other than that, it remained relatively unchanged. I agree that the Dragon Golem will be gone too much of an eccentric creature, and the fact that the community wasn't entirely pleased with it would suggest that Ubisoft, aiming to 'stick to the formula' would most likely abolish it. There is a 50/50 chance that the dwarves will stay in the line-up considering the more water-oriented approach of the Nature town. My tentative line-up:
1. Halflings -> Fullings (j/k - halfling upgrade) (shooter)
2. Golem -> Steel Golem (walker)
3. Magi -> Arch Magi (spellcaster/walker)
4. Roc -> Roc Upgrade (flyer)
5. Genie -> Genie Upgrade (spellcaster/flyer)
6. Naga -> Naga Upgrade (walker)
7. Giant -> Titan (shooter)

This would be a well-balanced town indeed. It may be that the Rocs won't even be included, and there will be a low level flier in the level 2 slot such as a gargoyle. I think this would be a great mixture of all Heroes versions of the Tower. I don't see the two spellcasters beside each other - that's why I think they've got to be at least 2 levels apart.

IrishTitan:

"Again with the halflings, I have a question were they part of the "Tower" if there was a "Tower" place in Heroes II?"

As you may tell by reading my response, yes, they were a level 1 creature for Wizard.

"Titans, my favorite unit, my older brother and I would argue about which was stronger an archangel or a titan. We never settled that dispute... "

There is no doubt that the Archangel is by far the stronger creature in Heroes III. Sorry.

"whatever it is, it has to do with the sky. (Yes I know that Rocs/Thunderbirds are flying creatures, but it just doesn't fit the whole "magic" thing of the "Academy")"

If you cast your mind back to Heroes IV, the Thunderbird was able to strike lightning on the opponent. This is certainly considered magic (as it was the spell, lightning). Once could argue that the gargoyle's didn't suit the magical nature of the town, nor the boars, in Heroes II. I think that Rocs do have more of a connection with Academy, though, seeing as Stronghold probably won't grace us in Heroes V.

It's seems like that I can't edit my topic. Maybe because lack of updates or something. So I predict my creatures this way now.

Academy looks great in banner. In my opinion they are more exciting than ever.
We know now that Academy is "arabic-style". So this will mean that some old creatures will cut and gargoyles, for example, will not make a return in sand. Maybe..

My creature predict:

1lvl: Nomad??
2lvl: Hawkman <- Those cool dudes from tomb town
3lvl: Mages (mages with carpet)
4lvl: Golem
5lvl: Genies
6lvl: Nagas or Elephants (slow and strong creature)
7lvl: Titans?
or
1lvl: Hawkman
2lvl: mages
3lvl: golem
4lvl: rock and so on.

So in my prediction Academy is shake of fast flyers, magician troops and strong slow tanks.
