What I would like to see, is a Duel option.
For instance:
You're loosing the battle.(you don't want that, right?)
Say you could challenge the other Hero to a Duel.
The Hero's Primary Skills would suggest their stats.
As an on/off option this would be nice to have.

sorry, but that would be even worse than superb H4 heroes ramping enemy forces ;P

I have to agree with ZhukaSS partly on this, and with DragonMaster as well. If someone were winning with their creatures why on earth would they choose to duel with a hero, and (possibly) dieing when they have a huge army that could have won?
If this were an option and you were to do it, let's say before battle, and whoever won had a morale boost/vice versa. Now the winning/losing won't be the living or death of two heroes but merely just the fact that one hero bested the other one. Meaning that both heroes will be able to cast spells as their creatures attacked.
I like the sound of this more than having a hero in battle, because recently I was playing Heroes IV and um yea... having multiple heroes in your army is like being superman on steroids. (sorry couldn't come up with a good metaphor) It would either have to be that or no heroes in battle.

The duel before the battle sounds like a better idea.
I have to agree about the mistakes I made with this option.
The moral boost is a lot better.
Thnx for upgrading my suggestion, IrishTitan.

If you have played hot seat you would have known that when the enemy human surrenders he will give you hte money he pays for his army to flee

hmmm.....
You are a little weird for not knowing how surrendering works.
The ammount of gold paid equals the value of the creatures in the army at that moment.
I don't know if it also involves the value of the Hero,
but I don't think it does.

I do realize that if you were to play hotseat with that option (the option of choosing how much gold you want from the hero in order to surrender) it would be unfair if oh say your "opponent" happened to type in before you could do anything. Still I wish this would be allowed rather than letting the computer figure it out, that way if you accidently attack a person you have a NAP with then you can lower the surrender. Just a thought...
