Sure, CoCoDemon, you made a sensible statement, I totally agree with you, but there're always guys who forget where they started from and banter lesser players. I guess we just have to live with that and learn/fight hard to one day kick their buttocks.

Good for you CoCoDemon if you grew to kick out experienced players already, but I'm still a noob yet (for online standards). Here in the HC is the best place to learn from and strenghten your skills and sharpen the blade, so I'm on my way, too. ;-)

I also despise the tossing of noob players who are good intentioned yet cannot defend themselves against their attackers. Talking down to the weaker players is a sure sign of poor sportsmanship; I wish people would recognize this before they join in the assult. You might not have feelings, but the new guy next to you might. Therefore, don't assume he's tough enough to take your crud. And it's not a matter of whether a noob has thick skin or not, and it's stupid to expect that from everyone.

People need to get real.

No CoCoDemon, you're not the only one thinking that way, GuitarGuy here is as well and he's making a sensible statemant and being soo right. I used to be very sensitive till a few years ago, but got wiser now, the only hurting thing on me is to be cheated/lied by people I trust (and consider friends). And it happend a few times right here playing Heroes 3.

There's a saying a Romanian guy here has as signature: "Everything not killing us only makes us stronger".

I can't speak for everyone, but here is what I notice...

Generally you will not get picked on if you are an inexperienced player, yet try to play the game with honor and get your butt kicked.  If you don't know alot of tactics and ask for advice, there will be someone to help or post.  It seems to me that the some of the really good players on the zone are very helpfull and do offer good advice even after the game is finished.  This isn't to pick on people, but to help them become better players.

You will get picked on if you play a game with someone, you are not doing well, then drop the game because it is not going your way. Nobody wants to waste hours of their time playing a game and then have someone just disappear.  You will get picked on if (instead of asking for advice) you post incorrect tactics or statements for others to learn from.  The bad thing about this is that if newer members read these posts, they will think that is a tactic they should practice (without realizing the source) and preach these tactics to others.  At least if you ask, other members will see it as a question and then see correct responses posted from members that have played the game online for many years.

Maan, CoCoDemon, look what you've done! So many posters here already. :-)

Just to clear out things about myself... I'm not a beginner in any way, and don't just disappear from games. Please take a look at my stats (and honor) in ToH (handle GabyStan) and you'll have a clear picture of who I am. You can also ask on zone about me, but I'm not posting here to get myself be known. Fact is I am still a noob into my OWN eys, for I always have high standards (first imposed on me). That's all.

So, that was the subject here, again?

An one thing to say about you, Xarfax: I appreciate the quality info and files you offer us and admire your programming skills, but don't really like your lack of respect. Period!

Gosh, I came here to learn, was even complaining of too much spam and look what I do: I overflood this site. Pleeeez, just lemme take care of my "job"... Oh, whinners! looool

P.S. Noob to me is a newcommer (newbie), which is not equal to poor player. So I still am a noob (into MY eyes, and that's the one thing that counts - to myself).

yet a player that isn't good is also a noob. You can't be renowned as a vet if you suck at the game.

Ok Roger, then what's the difference between a noob and a foo? :-)

Plus, do you think a WW2... driver, for example, cannot be called a veteran? He did all his best, right? Or a guy who just loves the game, plays it a lot with honor but just seems to be limited at a lower level has to be deemed as a loser (noob, foo etc.)? Pardon me, mister!...

Know what Conan, go kill some Barbarians! ;-)

I never mentionned foo. I don't know what you are talking about.

I don't deem anyone as being a looser - never did. Not being a vet does not make you a looser nor does it make you a noob. You can just be plain HoMM player like most.

The way i see it, some are noobs, some are vets. But we are all HoMM players.

Barbarians don't kill barbarians. They kill mages.

I don't know about you guys, but I jokingly call people I consider friends "foo".  It is just smack talk...nothing to take offense over.  I consider myself a noob as far as gameplay goes because I am too slow. I do however, take good advice from the better players and try to improve my game.  If someone tells me a barbarian is one of the best choices as a main hero, and that person is ranked 1700+ in toh, then I look for a barbarian when making a choice for my main.  I don't ask why?? I don't argue that deemer is much more powerful because he has meteor shower to start with, etc etc...
I can't see any honorable player making fun of someone if a new player just plays the game, has fun and loses. You are more likely to get some advice at the end of the game which is always good learning experience.

PS - If you are honorable in your game play, but act like a noob, you still may be called noob... example:

Experienced Player:  Hi... random or fixed
Noob: gogogogogogo
Experienced Player:  Ok, I guess random is ok with you.  Lets play Extreme.  What rules would you like?
Noob: Regular.... gogogogogogogo
Experienced Player:  Surely there are some rules to make this a good game.  I have a few standard rules, and am open to what you have to add.
Noob: Standard is fine, gogogogogogogo!

If you act this way, chances are you will be called a noob even if you play with honor.  There are many other examples, but hopefully you get the point.

[modhat]CocoDemon, this is a warning. You did not censor your foul language in your last post and this is not tolerated on HC. This is a quote from our code of conduct:

Quote:
Bad language is not allowed at Heroes Community. Vulgar words must be replaced entirely with ***** characters by pressing SHIFT and 8 simultaneously. For example: f*** is not allowed and will be penalized, while **** is allowed. Some words are censored automatically, but still show up through quote reply function, so automatic censoring will not save you from receiving a penalty

Failure to do so in the future will result in penalties. Please edit your post the way it should be.
Thank you.[modhat]
