Russia will advance 99% sure
SWE has the upper edge, but I am rooting for CZE!
CAN will be in the finals, so yeah, it will win.
USA has the advantage, still embarrassed because of the last game. Brutal. With the right changes to the team I can become slightly more optimistic towards FIN, and yeah, with a lot of beer ;p

Slovakia beat Canada!
And how lovely the last one was. Five seconds after the Getzlaf penalty. 
Russia as expected, nice try from Norway though. I was rooting you guys. 2-2 still looked unexpectedly good.
USA - Finland was luls worthy from the referees. Talk about freedom. Hooking was pretty much the only thing not allowed. And only near the goal too.
SWE will beat CZE and it will be
Russia - Finland
Slovakia - Sweden

This has been a day of magnificent, happy surprises. Now we'll get a great emotion packed semi-final between the Czechs and the Slovaks. It's going to be great!
All of the games today were really tight and rather surprising in one way or another. Slovaks and Czechs winning, Norway hanging on as long as they did and I still got no idea what the snow that referee action was in Finland - USA.
Czechs are going to win Slovaks, but it's gonna be close.
Russia should technically win Finland but I'm pretty sure saturday is going to show us a victory over them. A lot hangs on the referees though. Similar to today and it's going to be a bloodbath.

indeed, very surprising day overall.
im going to guess that finland wins russia, we have done it before so there is no reason we can't do it again as long as finland plays it's best hockey instead of the crap hockey we saw against U.S in the first game against them. and today they played good hockey and we ended up winning against U.S, same team we lost to first time around  even though the referees were quite frankly crap in that game.
i think Slovakia is going to win the second one, they have momentum going on and played really well against canada with good team and czechs weren't that impressive against sweden, as both teams played pretty badly in that game IMO.

Czech - Slovakia game seemed to have a reasonable referee policy. Makes me wonder what the hell those USA - Finland and Russia - Finland were about.
Czechs did a lot of mistakes on what should have been basic stuff for them.
The referees snowed Finland over completely, Russia would still have won, but it would have at least looked like a game, not a circus.
And the finals are
Russia - Slovakia
Czech - Finland
If Slovakia finds their miracle against russia, it would be awesome.
Finland beats Czech if they play even half seriously.

..also Norway is good! Depend on development curve, when can't be hyper-modern and rising steadily! They forget the Swiss and Norwegian development. Someone on Denmark and Germany are included.  brain

Interesting referee policy again, completely different from the rounds before this.

Okay, the Quarterfinals are now as follows:
Finland - Russia/Norway
Sweden - Slovenia/Austria
USA - Slovakia/Czech
Canada - Switzerland/Latvia
Who's going to take it this time?
USA has been looking mighty amazing, really, really good team play. They will advance to semifinals where they'll be playing Canada who will beat Switzerland after a tough and even match. USA will advance from that to the finals, Canada will improve, but unless USA flops, it won't be enough.
Unless Russia shows big improvement they will fall against Finland who will face off against Sweden in the semis. Both teams have suffered major setbacks with losing three of their big players to injuries, Finland arguably more. Lundqvist has not played as well as he should, he needs to improve. Then again, Rask also played very unreliably, amazing gamesavers like they're nothing and then he let two lousy goals in. Finland can always put Lehtonen or Niemi in and it will be a great choice if Rask doesn't feel up to the task but Sweden doesn't have that option. If both teams goaltending is flawless Sweden will probably win, Finland has had too many setbacks but Swedish goaltenders tend to suck in big games against Finland, historically, so there's that.

Lundqvist was bad as expected. Gave one goal to Finland.
While there was bad luck involved with the puck changing direction from Immonen's stick Lehtonen still failed to block the shot, he should have. Not nearly as bad as Lundqvists fail but still a fail both ways for goaltending.
With even goaltending Sweden was better on the offense as predicted. A valiant effort for Finland to make it into final four with Mikko Koivu, Saku Koivu, Barkov, Filppula and Bergenheim missing from the team. It showed here though, no way to break the Swedish defense with the sharpest edge missing. That was pretty much the image of the game. Just not enough offense.
Once again, really, really weird referee line. Easy penalties to Sweden in the beginning and then absolutely no penalties in the end. Scared of doing their job in the semi-finals, perhaps?

Finland - USA, entertaining as hell.
USA got totally owned. 5-0, ouch man, that's gotta hurt.
Got to thank Kane though, he was as good a player for Finland as any from our team.
USA failed completely where Sweden shined. Completely lackluster defense. Quick wasn't brilliant today either but it really was the defense where they failed the worst. Finland was leagues ahead of them on that front.
Rask played a perfect game too, perhaps we don't have to lynch him next time he comes home.
