I've listed 2 ways to look at the map during the game that can de done in ANY version of homm. (3 ways if you count the hacked homm.exe and other 3-rd party tools.) I hope you'll find that information useful even if those do not exactly answer your post.

this is bullsnow. Splexx and howie still talking snow bout theyr townsitting = lame thing. Even I were accused of it cos  I dont know you, and dont really know the problem here. But this conversation posted here manu, is bullsnowconversation.

Ok i never did like random maps...but i couldnt help wondering about what i saw in this post regarding making a rule banning the dwellings put on the map by the random generator. if someone makes one of these templates cant the mapmaker control what goes on the map? and therefore why would you want to play on one of these templates that was going to put something on the map you needed to ban from the game later on?
ive heard explainations of this..but never one that satisfies.

The problem is, u canīt ban every little thing u want on a random template.
Why? Because no thing on a random map, be it a leprechaun, an utopia or an unicorn dwelling, has an unique number, which u could just eleminate. All these things have a range. Conservatories for example have a range from 2000 to 9000 (about). If u would leave out this whole range in the template, u will miss many many other stuff aswell, like level 3-6 dwells, medusa stores, pan boxes with 5k exp. points small amount of creeps or 5k gold, prisons with level 1 or level 5 heroes, nagabanks, minor and major arties and so on....

Scenario:
Player A comes into my area, stronger army, stronger hero. I decide to stay in castle where my chances are better. Oops, town sitting isnt honorable
Instead I avoid the strong army and hero for a few days because I am red, maybe I can hold out til the new week and get troop advantage. Oops, that would be a red rush.
Hang on...theres that full conservatory I forgot about, and that hive! I'll grab them! Oops, no cons or hives allowed.
Its ok though, I have summon, implo and a decent spellpower, with my res maybe I can hold out long enough...Oops, no 5th level spells allowed.
Maybe I can avoid him with d/d, maybe I can try and get into his area and make him worry about his own town. Oops, no fly d/d
What about if I try and join those group of reds that were so hard to kill before, that will give me good troop advantage. Oops, no diplo allowed.
But I have Kyrre! surely I can out run him til I have some sort of logistical advantage. Oops..no log spec.
Hey...I have a faster troop, good power and a chain lightning! I can decimate him without him even getting near me!...haha as if no hit and run.

I agree because back in the days we used to make posts about how to master random.
With all these rules you might as well play a fixed map.
I like soe of the made templates but you know where to go already & know where your oponent is without Air or earth vision.
Before the made templates I tought it was more challenging because being new before SP found a way to make templates, it was tough.
All random & you didnt need all those rules.
Some of the rules is just plain rediculas.
Only problem with 3do templates was too many restarts.
Why I dont play much at all either because were handycapped with all these rules, you might as well stand there but I am always a compromising player.
I only played 3 games 2 with Art & one with Gaga.
I guess I am played out & ready for a new game, maybe heroes 5 or civ 4 etc.

something else about this hive thing...say you make a rule..no one can use the creatures obrained from the hive..and someone says they attack it only for the experience. what if they take the ..lets say 12 wyverns they get and suddenly they have enough strength to attack the utopia. they attack and win with the extra armys illegally obtained and then delete them at the end of turn. how could you ever prove they cheated? pretty nice huh? only players of the highest honor should be allowed to do this..or they might not be able to resist this temptation.

Therefore you shouldnt allow taking cons and hives for xp. But even if you do you can find out if he used them by replaying the battle without the wyverns and see if its possible. That is if you have a save from that day ofcourse.

That's very true. But it is't.
I could play any map ever made for H3 and insist upon those rules and never have even a hint of trouble from my opponent.
Thing is, tho. (1) I never ask for rules. (2)Although I will agree to practically any rule, I will only do so when playing an opponent I know I can trust. If I get burned.........I'll suck it up and drive on, but that trust is forever gone.
I could list names from Angelito, to BossBo or Bright_Blade, and keep going alphabetically all the way from Dracos to Lord Odin to Pan to Rychenroller and all the way through to Zud and I'd never have a problem.
Then again, I could just simply start a game with any of those guys, never mention a single rule, and play the whole way through with all the confidence in the world that none of them would ever try any of that crap.
Ever heard the old addage of 'It's not who you are, it's who you know.'? Well, IMO if you know the right peeps the only issues you'll ever have in a game will be the ones you take into it yourself

HA, well im not on the honor council anymore,but I,here my sumation. 1st thing the guy writing the emails claiming he cheated is proof bye his own admittance,so BOOT him. 2nd the save shows the other guy cheated as well LOL so BOOT him too.its so odd that all the years ive played its always the same if your being accused constantly of cheating with several diff players then your most likely are,anyways h5 will be here soon I,hope but tag and bag them both till then at least leave h3 with the honor which it deserves.BP
