You don't have to fight them. From Tor Hrall head south crossing the garrison then go east. At the eastern end of the map you'll see a garrison before a subterranean gate. Reach there, that will be the end of the mission (fulfilling the objective "Get away from the Dwarves' territory"). The passage is guarded by lots of Fire Dragon, but that shouldn't be a problem as it will be your last battle.

As to what Freyda said, I don't recall anything. I guess it's insignificant. I'll go and ask her, she's in the kitchen now. We're married, you know. LOL!
____________
But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it.

Yes now I am having another problem.
This time with the fourth mission.I didn't destroy all the rebels before talking with the dwarves and so now Laszlo has taken care of them.I've just passed the weird tower that asks me to get all the dwarven artifacts and I turned right. After a few steps I encounter a intersection that goes to the left to many phoenixes and to the right to rune patriarchs(swarms).I have 5 paladins,73marksmen,59 bear riders(brown),14 inquisitors,150 squires,160 conscripts.
How am I supposed to beat 3 swarms of rune patriarchs?
Oh and also I wanted to know why is it that Freyda always asks what happened to the angels and why are there none?
Thanks
P.S.about the campaign the question really should be:"where the hell am I supposed to go?I'm LOST

to get rid of them you will have too kill the wolfs a little south of dwarven treasurie.

Yeah,wow thanks.
all right I got past the rune dudes and the red gate keeper.
destroyed the wraiths(before confronting the fire dragons)but  don't understand what the prison wants me to get.
Nd about the angels what I meant was that  I want to know why you only see fallen angels and never archangels or angels. And also if you notice in the video where Isabel tells Freyda about her dad being prisoner a garrison is guarded by fallen angels.WHAT HAPPENED TO THE NORMAL ONES!!!!!!!!!
P.S.Don't take this the wrong way I simply can not take this question out of my sistem.

you will never know but they will come back too Freyda in the last map in the dwarf campaign and there is nothing in the prison so don't bother getting the artifacts

here's a walkthrough about this campaign

The Queen

C1M1. The Queen
---------------
Welcome to the first mission and campaign. Here you will learn how
to move and use the camera. So feel free to look and walk around.
There is no real threat in this map. Remember to pick those troops
and mark those peasant huts etc. to get you some kind of army. When
you have big enough army, you will be given a objective to fight a
garrison to end the scenario. What is important is to think ahead
what kind of skills you will choose as you army will not follow you
to next mission, but you skills, spells and attributes will. So pay
attention what you choose. It would be wise to take some combat
skills and at least one basic magic school to be able later to use
those high level spells. This is not so important during the first
campaign but later strong magic will be your friend from mission
one of the campaign.

Hints
- it is easy to develop Isabel a might character but also remember
at least one basic magic skill like light or summoning magic.

C1M2.The Rebellion
------------------
Another introduction mission where you get your first town and find
your first stat increase tombs (take your time to increase your
stats when it is possible). You may be worried about having only
one week to capture your own town. Well, no panic as you can take
that archers dwelling, hit the Redwood observatory (to see your
target) and take the town. After that you should take the nearby
ore pit to be able to build the archers building to the town as
fast as possible. Still, there are no enemy heroes or other time
limits, so wonder around, develop your town and take the needed
stat increase and creature dwellings. When ready, you can take the
town in NE corner of the map.

Hints
- you can build a structure to buy war machines which are useful
even if you do not have the skill, but it would not be a bad choice
to take that skill
- you will have enough gold in this mission so you can freely take
experience from the treasure chests, but actually you have also
enough neutral stacks to hit the experience cap...

C1M3.The Siege
--------------
This mission offers a good change to learn some of the basic
elements of HoMM5. Now you can recruit more heroes to carry troops
to your main hero Isabel and also mark those resources / wind
mills. The general idea of the map is to develop your town and
troops enough to be able to beat the enemy hero. You should explore
the whole map without panic and when ready attack those archdevils
in the middle E of the map. After this fight you will face the
enemy hero and enjoy the biggest fight so far. End of mission.

Hints
- still no magic for you so develop those might skills but remember
that one magic skill (not essential but without one skill, you are
not able to learn those most powerful spells of that
specialisation)
- out of resources? visit those trading posts which offer best
prices for your resources (you will need ore a lot, also crystals)
- also some advice about the battles. You may want to protect your
archers from melee opponents. So use blockers to circle the troop
needing protection or move blockers to the place where they block
the enemy. You can use for example peasant (only one) for that, or
several one stack peasant.
- experience different battles and you will start to see that
different troops should be in different places and overall tactics
mode is important to prepare for the fight (you may even want to
leave some troop out of some difficult fight)

C1M4.The Trap
-------------
As usual you appear on the corner of the map. Your general
direction is revealed to you. I suggest you to take those peasant
huts and resources as there is no hurry. Just advance N until you
have to choose the path thru mountains or the path to the right. I
would go right as there is a very interesting building on that
path: hill fort. Use it to upgrade your forces. You should be
enough gold to do it if you chose to take gold from the treasure
chests. You can also visit underground if you wish but it is not
obligatory. When you have enough troops, pay a visit to the only
town and take it. Now you will develop the magic guild, also visit
the town with Findan to get those spells (also very useful summon
creatures spell). Now is your time to adventure and take the rest
of neutral stacks and stat bonuses. When ready you will have to
visit the seer near town and after that visit crypt underground.
You will get boots of leviathan which can be used to cross the
nearby broken bridge. Advance a little bit to find a surprise and
end of the mission.

Hints
- when you take peasant huts etc. early you can leave them and
order later low level  hero to visit them to get for free a lot of
troops.
- remember always to visit towns with new magic spells as they will
follow you to next mission
- also archangel near one portal will join you and you will found
that one powerful creature with special abilities is quite strong
compared to a bunch of low level creatures

C1M5.The Fall of the King
-------------------------
This mission is important story wise. Also you will get Godric as a
hero and he is very important. Develop Godric and have him as your
main hero during this mission as he will be participating other
important missions later. I would suggest to take light magic to
Godric also, for later missions. The basic mission is simple, you
must go to the first town as capture it within one week (you may as
well take it on the last day to have a good start on your troops
and resources). After you have taken the town there will be enemy
heroes going to your town from the S path (S and then E). Prepare
for these attacks. You will also have a lack of resources so you
may start to capture resources as fast as possible. Also remember
to develop your magic guild fast to have town portal and summon
creatures spells. After those you have quite a freedom to adventure
without worries about the attacks as you can town portal (Isabel)
to your town as needed. I would also give your main army to Godric
and have Isabel do the backup work like capturing mines etc. You
can also venture to enemy territory SE but you will not be strong
enough to take the garrison, so you may as well clear the road and
go to underground and check there. When you see obelisks, visit
them and you will be give the place where the Tears of Asha is.
Just follow the main plot and when ready get Godric to Nicolai
quest and you will be almost finished. The mission ends to the fall
of the King.

Hints
- Develop Godric, light magic is useful also logistics (but not too
high yet) for later missions
- You can also train your troops to higher tier. I like to use
developing peasants to archers (if you have the money, right hero
and building)
- Cavaliers on the S will join you if you are strong enough
- Imperial griffins can be very effective against ranged or magic
troops

Hi guys this is my first post, nice to meet you all.

Anyway I believe Freyda is talking about the fact that you don't really see real angels and Archangels anymore, only Fallen Angels with bloody wings, which can hardly be counted as real angels.

You need to persist a little while longer. At least one more Inferno Hero is supposed to spawn, and you must defeat that one. After having defeated enough of them, you will get a cutscene where Godric and Isabel are discussing the best course of action. After that cutscene you get the mission objective to send Godric through the garrison.

This is my first post to this forum. I have just started playing HoMM V, and I already suspect that there's something... eh, wrong with my game. I have patched it to version 1.60, but the Haven campaign's final mission seems to have certain issues, which were not present in the demo.

The "issues":

1. AI controlled heroes should attack Dunmoor pretty soon, during the second week, right? Well, every time I have played this mission, the first one appears sometime near the end of the second *month* - without any interest to siege the city. (see below) He just roams the countryside and/or flags the mines etc. If I want to finish him, I'll have to attack him myself.

2. Yesterday when I tried the mission again, even the *fourth* of the enemy heroes didn't bother to attack me. Same routine: seemingly random wandering around, visiting stables and other places. No interest for Dunmoor. (see below)

Other things:

Seems that AI doesn't *dare* to attack Isabel - who is level 22 in the beginning of this Haven mission. She doesn't even have to have massive army behind her back. If Isabel is guarding Dunmoor, none of the demon heroes attacks the city; but if Godric is doing the job, then the enemy DOES attack. They also attack him on the world map - but not Isabel. AI hadn't anything against her in the demo version...

Because of the time (nearly two months) it takes for the first AI hero to appear, I manage to get lot of resources and gather lots of troops, and then... Then I decide if I *want* to fight the enemy heroes (just to regain the control of the mines they capture) - or do I just keep on building the city and my army.

First I thought that the "abnormal" AI behavior had something to do with difficulty setting (I play on "hard"), but changing the difficulty doesn't seem to have any effect.

So if anyone could help me with this one, I would be very grateful. I hate to think that I should re-install the whole game...

I've checked the script of this mission, and see nothing odd with it. As soon as you've captured Dunmoor and rescued Isabel, Agrael should charge in an attempt to capture Dunmoor.

However, to reach Dunmoor, the "MoveHero" command is issued to Agrael. This command is also giving problems in the first mission of the Sylvan campaign, so it could be that it does so here, too.

The best way to check what's wrong is by checking the output in the console. Do you know how to open it? It's detailed in the modding forum anyway. I'm curious what error report(s) it gives. My suspicion is that when you captured Dunmoor, your other Hero was actually blocking Agrael's free movement path to the city, thereby botching the "MoveHero" command.

Thanks for the reply. I am quite embarrased to confess this, but I haven't played any Heroes of Might and Magic games earlier. I downloaded the demo and it was so captivating, I decided to buy the whole game. So, understandably, I am not familiar with the console of this particular game...

Anyway, Godric (the only hero besides Isabel I have had in this mission) has been far, far from the enemy hero(es), so he shouldn't have blocked Agrael's movement. I had the same "tactic" while I played the demo version: Isabel defending and upgrading Dunmoor - or returning to defend the city just in time before the first attack - while Godric roamed the neighborhood. The drastic differences between the actions of AI in the demo and the full version was the only reason why I made the posting above...

I had problems with the last scenario too.
I restarted the whole campaign because I thought my save got corrupted while updating the game.

Still Agrael didn't show up so I tried to capture the town before freeing Isabel and that worked for me.

Yet the other 2 inferno heroes came through the portals but didn't move at all so I had to go get them.

That was with the deluxe version of the game and difficult setting.

I haven't tried to play the whole campaign from the beginning yet, but a couple of days ago (the first time I got worried about the lack of AI action) I moved Isabel and her army to the "Inferno region" just to see what is going on, and Agrael just stood still beyond the bridge for a week or more. I don't remember the exact in-game time, but it must have been near the end of the second month or so. At that time NONE of the enemy heroes had appeared yet... So no wonder I am quite worried about the state of my game. I have read the walkthroughs for this mission, and they all seem to describe the events I experienced in the demo version...

PS: None of the enemy heroes have come through the portals, like they did in the demo. I must be paranoid (or something equally nasty), but I am not willing to continue playing this great game, if this AI problem can't be solved.

I'm getting around to finally finishing the campaigns on heroic... I'm not really contributing much other than to say that I have similar problems in 1.6, and that it worked fine in 1.0 the first time I played through the campaigns.

Spoilers, in case anyone might still care.
For me, the scripts work as usual until sending godric to nicolai. Here, nicolai never turns up and agrael remains behind his garrison, both his and the garrison forces invincible (sans stupid amounts of time spent on the mission), leaving me stuck and unable to finish.

On 2nd play through, nicolai turned up, but stood at the edge of the map where he spawns, agrael went to block the path while nicolai stood there doing nothing, again unable to end the mission. That said, I'm pretty sure I was blocking nicolai's path with isabel, I wasn't expecting him to spawn.

EDIT: for the record, I waited until given the quest to send godric through before sending him. That quest is now ticked.

Is it worth unpatching to play through this mission (and sylvan 1, apparently)?

EDIT2: Spoiler bbcode tags don't work?

--------

NecroEDIT3: Killing the demon, overseer and imp stacks before taking dunmoor, then finding agrael where he was skulking underground (undergound entrance near demon military post, follow the road up) and killing him worked.

Each time I have played the last mission of this campaign, I have always rescued Isabel first and then captured Dunmoor (at least in the full version of Heroes V). Well, yesterday I freed the city first - and hooray! Agrael showed up and attacked a couple of days later, like he is supposed to do. I was quite overjoyed - but too soon...

Problems started when Nebiros emerged through the eastern portal... And just froze to the spot, unwilling to move any further. The game continued like I described in my first posting: enemy heroes roaming the lands, but not attacking Dunmoor. Later (it must have been third in-game month), another enemy hero, Nymus, came through the same portal as Nebiros. And yes - he joined his infernal friend. Perhaps those two demons had so much to discuss (like weather or the cost of creatures), that they had absolutely no interest to move at all...

Also, another infernal hero (whose name I can't remember) seemed to have similar "glued-to-the-spot" problems near the southern portal.

Maurice asked about possible console error messages. Well, besides certain combat-related message (which seemed to occur with every battle), the only one I witnessed was something like: "can't move [hero name] to cell x,y in map (layer?) 0". I saw that message twice or thrice, and the cell coordinates were (if I remember right) the same each time.

Anyway, I have decided to re-install the game and patch it to version 1.4 only. I'll play the first campaign from the beginning and see if anything changes in the last mission...
