Poll Question:
POLL: What is the best feature of Heroes 5?

Time for another exciting and entertaining weekly HC poll!

Days remain until Heroes 5 is out and you can finally get your hands on it. You already said which faction you will play first. But we have yet to find an answer for the much deeper philosophical topic: Why do you want Heroes 5? What's so darn good about it?! Everything of course, but to make this poll more difficult and fun you can only select the absolute number one feature that you like the most. Choose wisely:

1. The graphics: the intro screen, 3D adventure map, 3D battles with cinematic camera, 3D town screens. Heroes 5 Screenshots (AOH)

2. Great multiplayer options: duel mode, ghost mode, dynamic battles. Multiplayer Features (AOH)

3. The way each faction is unique: the units lineup of each faction, how it matches with the town, unique racial abilities. Heroes 5 Creatures (AOH), Racial Abilities (AOH)

4. Improved skills system: the new and improved hero skills and abilities system, hero special abilities. Heroes 5 Skills (AOH)

5. Gameplay and interface: the way the interface is really intuitive to use and the game is quick and easy to control, while containing a great depth of strategic possibilities, also all the little innovations that make playing fast and easy.

After you vote, feel free to post a comment to explain why you like that feature more than the rest.

Responses:
The graphics.
Great multiplayer options.
The way each faction is unique.
Improved skills system.
Gameplay and interface.

Gameplay is always for me very important and interface too, so i voted that, but the way every town is unique is also important. This was a hard one.

I think the best things in H5 are the factions, their unique style, and units. The towns are really great and shows the mentality of each factions. The total 3D sistem is very impressive and the graphic is unmachable.
Furthermore the wide variety of everithing is great too. I mean, the multiplayer game modes, and the battle modes. The moving camera in battle is a new thing in round based strategies and the ATB bar helps me much with planning my tactic.
On the other side the Inferno. It is my favourite faction, and in my opinion it became very good and strong. Altough excluding my favourite unit, the elfreet, it still has many great advantages (eg. gating). If you are interested in my opinion about the Inferno, click on Inferno discussion.
And don't forget:

Graphics is normal, could be better in many ways.

Gamplay and interface - it is a step backward, I would give minus votes for it.

Multiplayer options - maybe I would vote it if there were custom duel armies.

So I had to vote for races, which are unique, but are not made so well [and there are not enough of them].

I like the way each faction is unique. They give deep descriptions of how the creatures came to be into the town, where they came from, etc. It really gives the entire town, and world, detail and makes you want to play.

I remember playing necro in heroes3 and thinking to myself "i love how differently this faction plays from the others because of necromancy, no morale, and animate dead".  I am very happy to see that there have been so many steps taken to personalize each of the different factions so that no two of them play alike.  It lends itself not only to replay value, but also to getting more involved in a "favorite town", and "favorite strategy" that differs for each town.  Now I feel as though a favorite town means more than just the one with your favorite creatures/coolest looking heroes.

From a purely artistic standpoint, (which is not the only reason I like the game, but a big one nevertheless) I think Heroes 5 is a very beautiful game.  Each creature and hero is very unique and precisely detailed.  This game definitely doesn't feel like it was just thrown together (which was the feeling I got with Heroes 4 occasionally).  Also the towns are great looking, though very different from past heroes games, and the terrain and other aspects of the adventure map are stunning. The graphics got my vote, but all the others are important to me as well, and I feel like all the points are strong in Heroes 5.

Got to go with uniquenes.  This game makes it like playing an RPG, where your character is the town itself, with all characters with different motives and feelings.

I really like the skill system. Many different strategies possible now.
I do like the graphics in battle aswell...just awesome to watch all the animations when units get hit or do their special move.

But for me it seems the AI in battle hasnīt improved much from Heroes 3 to Heroes 5. Still there is this strange thing, the comp doesnīt kill a nearly dead unit but rather attacks another stack coz he could deal more damage with that hit (Had it in the 2nd campaign of the demo, where a stack of 2 griffins stood besides my single hell charger, who had 5 hitpoints left, and decided to attack a stack of 7 imps instead of finishing off my hellchargers).

I really kind of liked 'all of the above', but since I have to choose I pick gameplay.

I loved the entire concept of this series, going all the way back to King's Bounty.

I hope that the Might and Magic rpg gets treated to a decent revival as well, since that series has stagnated since MM6 ( imho ).

I'm not sure when I get the game into my hands but I already enjoy the idea that each faction is unique. This promises six different ways to approach the game which I find deeply enriching when it comes to offering full gaming experience.

I think HoMM V also has brought little bit back the experience which HoMM 3 was.
HoMM IV felt sterile and empty for me while the new game seems definately to have both form and substance.

Apart from races I find the skill system to be neat even though I think there could be some balancing issues.
Complex as the game HoMM is there are always the chance that someone is better off than others.

noticed my 2 weeks miss?
posted May 21, 2006 12:20 PM

I chose the 3rd option.Although i haven't played that long, i noticed that the races are much more balanced, compared to, let's say, H3.No clear advantages for any race, although any special advantage of any race could turn into a decisive one .So far i don't have a favorite race, darn, i mean i hadn't even played with every faction.

Also, this game has some very nice eye-candy, sometimes very bright colors, but they don't mind me at all.Totally, so far I like this game , BUT it still needs some fixing(aka patches )

I miss something

The graphic is perfect for me and the gameplay is good for everyone, the towns are very good and the units, too! . The skills, okay i don't know how to use them, but I think they're even good.
But: I miss something:

One Army, it always was in Heroes, it isn't there, what's about the babarians? . I really miss them.

And it was always funny to reach your own maps, but now, there isn't any Level editor!.

And the Duel mode is very good, but I want to play with friends in hot-seat and against Computers!.

And i thik there could be more maps, like 3-PLayer maps or 2 vs 2 or something like that^^

That was it....I need some help to this, please post me at niklas.zielony@funke31.de or describe something here

Vote: how each faction is unique.

Most of these things r important (like graphs and gameplay) and the new skill system is really nice... But for me, the most important r the unique factions. It's just fun to play with so many different creatures and have all those heroes with there own storylines, everything fits perfect. I like that in a game...

I think making a faction around a race and a theme is great, and it was the missing piece from previous games
