Necropolis campaign mission 5

Are frenzy and puppet master circle 5 spells? do you get them automatically when you research level 5 spells in your town?

I believe you don't "automatically" get these two spells even you build up the mage guild. The magic in the guild is radom one, once it means you only have a chance to get them, but not 100%.

I have a question, it seems that the item you get from last mission won't follow you into next, is it?

Maybe you can send Markal out earlier? The AIs will start to come out after a few weeks, when they are finished with local business (flagging mines, etc.)

Also, close to the SE town there are quite a few undead neutrals. They should help Markal a lot.

Woo, I finally conquer the three towns in the mission three and defeat elf, that is really a big fight. However, immediately after I kick elf's butt, the orange player send a huge troops into my recently occupied towns, what can I do? I have only 900 skeletons archers with me and the player has some 8 titans + a lot of troops. Can someone suggest what I can do? (I have both Frenzy and Bliness)

You have to visit the town with an eligible hero.

Correct. Artifacts do not carry over.

There should be more free undead on the map for you to pick up. Or, you can hide behind a castle wall, buy an ammo cart, and shoot them down. Keep raising the fallen ones. I think the AIs will have a run at you when they are completely overwhelming, but I found the patch 1.2 heroic AIs seldom fall for this trick (except the scripted ones like C1M5, C4M3 and C5M3).

Not directly.

Mmmm... I finally kick the orange player's butt by combining Frenzy, Bliness, Phantom Force and Phoenix. Ironly, I get all these spells from its previous character!!! I just defeated the character and hire him to my side, I got all spells!

One tip for mission 2.

Don't battle those Collosus guarding the shipyard too early (near the starting Heaven town).
While recruiting those Liches behind them seems like a good idea, taking out Collosus guardians makes you a target for a mage naval patrols, since this way you just opened a passage by which mages can come with big armies to attack your city.

Opening the passage too early makes you lose the mission, like I did in my last try.

I guess the best course of action is to clear out rest of the main island, and then go for Collosus guardians when you are ready to use the ship.

I did that.
I managed to survive the attacks, although barely, by allowing Markal to defend the city when Isabel's forces were too thinned out.

Just one question regarding Mission 1:
Are you actually supposed to defeat the Academy hero that follows you after you get to the underground? I captured the Dungeon city there and waited for the hero to come and attack me. Defeated him, of course, without failing the mission.

Well, I never conquered Warlock town, nor did I battle Warlock here to win mission one.

And my hero was already capped at level 10, so I didn't seen any point of doing that.

Once you're underground, you can defeat the Academy hero that's in pursuit.

Regarding Town Portal, it only ports to the nearest town if unoccupied. If the town is occupied (hero in the visiting army slot), the spell is greyed out. It would be helpful to know the town name before you cast the spell, as it's not always clear which town is closest. Note furthermore that towns on different levels (underground or above ground) are considered just as if they're all on the same level, for as far as relative distance is considered.

Also, that second mission where you start with the Haven town: there is another landing spot all the way west, close to the Mage Tower. Somehow both times I played that mission, the orange player would use that landing spot - right in the first week - and run for my castle with a powerful hero.

Now that's unlucky. Which difficulty were you playing at?

I experienced something similar on the last mission, when I sent Isabel out to get the treasure chests on the sea for more gold.
An orange ship appeared just next to Isabel's during the cpu's turn, immediately attacked her and crushed her. I didn't bother to reinforce her army before going either.

Something slightly off-topic, but has relevance to every campaign topic:
I think the XP required for the later levels(lvl15+) are kinda stupid both on the campaign, scenarios and multiplay, since you either need to find a huge amounts of chests, find an ancient tree or defeat a high-level hero with a powerful army(these kind of battles are usually the deciding ones, though).

I was playing on normal mode both times. Oh well, it required some creativity to use my starting troops along with the few dwellings I managed to build by then, to defeat that hero.

I had no problems with the Necromancer campaign. I'm a very slow player tho, need some time to make myself a good army. I would also suggest you to go for Summoning Magic, in campaigns the Summon Phoenix ability is really nice.

Defeating Godric in Mission V and Oddities

I had a lot of trouble defeating Godric in this scenario.  It was the tactics mentioned in these previous posts that made me able to finally win this battle: Puppet Master, Raise Dead, Inquisitors in army.

I built up both Newpost and Lorekeep to the point just beneath Angels and Bone Dragons.  These were not necessary for victory.

I recruited a level one hero to run after Markal picking up all the resources needed after he defeated the creatures, and then finally to run the Haven creatures over to Lorekeep to be converted for Markal's army.  Isabel captured the mines on her side of the map, including the gems mine on the island (where a stack of Inquisitors joined her).  After that she took a skelly or two and retired while the level one hero ran around with the Haven troops.

Once this was done, Lorekeep's guild was now level five.  Markal learned Puppet Master, took all Necro troops except Inquisitors, and rescued Irina.  Here's where things get really strange.

In earlier runs, all he got was an icon of Irina in his inventory.  This time, same thing, except Irina appears on the map.  I send her to Lorekeep, nothing...she basically is idle and has no effect on the outcome.  I wonder if this is some kind of strange glitch?

Markal fills up again one last time and flies over to Hikm.  It is the seventh day of the fourth week.  Godric is nowhere to be found.  It is just the castle, with no hero.  I attack and conquer with the following troops left: 10 Wraith, 20 Inquisitors and 923 Skellies.

Previously I went through this scenario over and over again, always trying to defeat Godric the last possible day, attempting to build up the strongest army allowable in the time given and obtain every imaginable artifact.  I know see that this was my biggest mistake.  By that time, Godric is too strong.  And why, for the life of me I can't understand, is Godric visible in front of the Hikm at that stage of the game but not in my earlier successful seige?  I do not know.

Thanks for all the great info on this map.  Finally defeated Godric!!!

Markal has the Necronmancer staff in right hand, and I have tried entering and leaving mage cities many times with Markal! It does not ask me the 10,000 gold question about cursing the city! What am I doing wrong?? I have spend countless hours on this one place!! Please help!

First of all, make sure it's the right staff. It's called the Staff of Ensnarement.
Then, make sure that Markal has it equipped and is in town, but not garrisoned there (or else he dies and you lose).
And last, let a day pass.
First thing in the morning, when you get out of town, you will be asked the 10000 gold question.

Don't even bother to curse the towns, you won't need it unless you spend all bone drgons on the map. Just defeat all wizard towns, curse one of them and that's all. You won't have many time to use Wizard army in campaign, this one is one of the few times.

I dont get it.

When I finished the second lvl of the necropolis campaign I jumped right to the 4th lvl (the regicide).

Do you guys are experiencing this problem ?

I only saw that because alot of you are talking about recruiting dragons bones and in all my missions I didnt have that objective...

Strange thing

Happened to me too , the problem is caused when your hero levels up in the final battle when it saves.

Best to reload the auto save and continue from there on , and no go on to Regicide , missing puppet master spell is not recommended .

*SPOILERS*

There seems to be a plot hole in the 5th: after you capture Godric's daughter she is never mentioned again, and after a while she even disappears from your inventory.  And that teleport next to the necro city doesn't seem to be functional.

No you got 1 spectre joining you once you beaten the angel
That 1 spectre suppose to represent freyda

Nope when you beaten the Angels you gotten the Angel wings(in your inventory) to Fly to Godric , if your army is not strong enough refill or rebuild till it is and fly to Godric.
