Ok that's it for the seventh round. This was a topsy-turvy week for the talent contest and for some contestants (I guess we only have Iris' departure to blame for that! ), so I'm happy to once again turn things over to you...the voters.  Iris might not have blessed us a "swan song" before bowing out, but there are 6 other competitors who decided to showcase their talents for you this week!

Anyways, the deadline for contestants to Post their talents passed a few hours ago, so they will NOT BE ABLE TO EDIT FROM THIS POINT ON...to keep things fair & even until Sunday night @ 23:59 Eastern Standard Time. So, now it's in your hands voters; let's see what you decided to surprise us with this week!

HC members, including those already eliminated, you are now free to vote for your favourite "performer" AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WISH. Just send me IMs or emails and I'll have the results posted in this Thread in around 48 hours.
REMINDER *Please direct all comments, feedback, questions, or discussion of the talent contest (here).

Hello everyone and welcome to the 8th round of HC's Got Talent!

Well, there might not be any SHOCKING RESULTS or MAJOR SURPRISES this week, but I do have some amazing news to share with all of you. Not to mention that there's always the announcement to make of who will be the next eliminated contestant. So keep on reading to find out about these exciting developments.

This week might have seemed "normal" to most of you, but underneath the calm surface there was near chaos brewing. You see, as the rounds come & go, the pressure on the contestants to take their talents to new & exciting levels rises continuously. And as you can all imagine, this is starting to take it's toll on them. In response to this, round #8 will deviate from the regular schedule and allow the contestants 2 weeks to showcase their talents. I know that this isn't going to please everyone, but as Kookastar said, it will give the contestants time to prepare themselves and raise the quality of their work. You'd think that after the incredible displays of talent that we saw this week, though, that no break would be required; but just imagine what everyone will have to show-off in 2 weeks from now...it should be mind-blowing! (I know that mine will be. )

Getting back to the last round...and NO, the "2 week timeframe" was not the amazing news that I was referring to earlier...we saw some contestants spice up their regular showcases, go in completely new directions, and return to previous talents that worked for them. Did their fine-tuning get them the votes that they were hoping for? Well, let's find out...

The 48 hour window for HC members to vote for their favourite performers officialy closed a long time ago (although I tried to Post this around 2am, but my internet was down ) and let me just tell you that the results are simply astounding! The amazing news that I mentionned above is that this week's vote total was not only the highest that it has ever been, but it simply skyrocketed to new heights! There were so many votes flying around for one contestant or for another that I couldn't believe my eyes. So, all I can say is THANK YOU to everyone who voted and made the last round one to remember.

Anyways, I think that I have sufficiently built up enough anticipation for the results, so here we go!
*For the first time in this talent contest, we only have a single Top Vote-receiving Contestant. And it should come as a shock to no one that the person I am talking about is none other than:
Kookastar (for the 4th time so far)!

Her talent showcase was not only ground-breaking, but more importantly, ground-shaking...as it simply destroyed all other competition. So, please join me in congratulating her for receiving not only a multitude of votes, but a shiny red Quality Point as well.

*What about the other 5 contestants, you ask? Well, this is certainly a week for first times. You see, as there was only one person at the "top", there is only one person at the "bottom". So, this contestant is not only at risk of elimination, but is being eliminated altogether.

Click here to find out who I am talking about.

Please join me in thanking this contestant for their excellent variety of talents and interesting Posts showcasing them. TitaniumAlloy not only wowed us with his custom Heroes of Might & Magic units, his indepth writing, and his creative signatures, but also with his commitment to this contest. Despite losing him as a contestant this week, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that it would be great to see him stick around as a voter. And so, it is with a respectful salute that I must bid him goodbye.

*On that note, I declare that the next round is officialy open!

*The remaining 5 contestants now have until Friday night @ 23:59 EST in 2 weeks to showcase their talents in a single Post, in this Thread. Remember, they can either keep going with the same talent or change to a new one at any time.
It's not only getting harder to predict who will be eliminated from one week to another, but it's also getting tougher saying goodbye to them. At least we can console ourselves to know that they can always return as voters and help to make HC's Got Talent a bigger success than it already is.

That being said, I'd like to say thank you to the contestants left in the competition, for their great 7th round performances, and to the voters, for making this a record-setting week. Good luck to my fellow contestants with their upcoming performances and have a good week everyone!

Well I have decided to give a break from the "song parts" and decided to upload some bigger, better and older sons that I have made.
This first song is the first song I ever created with FL Studio 5, bear in mind that i did make over 100 previous songs with FL Studio 4, so I do know how to use this program rather well and well this song was produced:

Modify

More shall be coming later

Ok damn it, I will continue with the song parts

Here they are:

After 2 weeks of preparation I have 3 different things to present as my entry for this 8th Round of HC's Got Talent. The first is a piano compilation (0.5 MB) that I put together for everyone who loves Hockey Night in Canada or hockey chants in general. I still haven't used a book or notes to guide me and am just figuring things out "by ear", so I hope that you like it!

The second part of my showcase is a video that I recorded to show everyone my juggling skills
(32 secs). The good news is that I didn't make it too long, so that it wouldn't take forever to load up; but the bad news is that you can hear Pikachu barking in the background the whole time. Anyways, I hope that you enjoy watching me clown around.

The third and final part of my showcase is a compilation of songs (4 MB) that I recorded using MIDI tunes that I found on the internet & altered lyrics that I found here. Thanks Geny!

I decided to switch from WAV files to MP3s to reduce the size of my entries {Whoever heard of a guy making his "entry" smaller, eh?! }, but there might be some quality issues due to this. Hopefully, it won't be too noticeable and you'll be able to enjoy all of it. I plan on showing off even more talent next week, as I will accompany my piano playing with some singing and write/sing my own altered lyrics tune. So, remember to VOTE FOR ME!

P.S. After hearing that some people had trouble getting linked to the song files, I uploaded them to another internet hosting site. So, click here if you had trouble listening to my hockey themes and click here if you had trouble listening to my "Stairway to Eye of the Tiger" remix.

Well, first let me say that this entry has been made in a rush 3 hours before the deadline. I had prepared a Joe Cocker original chorepgraphy (yeah, moi made it up) but I was unable to film it. The inconvenient part of my dance entries is that I have to have a friend over to film and although this was planned for today we has to abandon this project because other people were around.

So for this week I'm posting my view on The Hamlet Syndrom. What is this new syndrom you wonder? Click on the link and you'll find out. Be prepared that the file is 8 megs.

You can find the original, unedited and rough version here. Please check that link only if you have no other way to hear the MP3. Like I mentioned, the MP3 is the revamped and more ... intelligible version of the original essay.

Enjoy AND please vote for me! Remember that next week I'm going to post my choreo to Joe Cocker's song You can leave your hat on ... which I'm sure you'll enjoy very much.

HC presents SNOW WHITE
The Seven Dwarfs:
Dopey: Russ
Grumpy: RSF
Happy: Leo
Doc: Fog
Sneezy: TnT
Bashful: Bjorn
Sleepy: Shadowcaster

Once upon a time in a grand tower, a princess lived with her doting father and his wife, Pandora.  Pandora’s beauty was renowned throughout the lands; as she danced across tabletops her buxom physic left every man and 83% of women with either an awkward smile, or spit dripping unceremoniously down their chins.

Each morning Pandora would slip from her bed and glide to the Naked Women thread where she would stand before her enchanted mirror.  Each morning, Pandora would ask the mirror who the hottest chick at HC was, and each morning the mirror would respond, “You are.”

Until one fateful day when the mirror replied, “Iris is the fairest of them all.  And she is a great archer, and an awesome pianist, she is charming, and she can write too…” The queen was mortified.  She silenced the mirror and teleported to Tosser’s where she spotted the three-headed henchman.  Clutching his devilish head in her delicate fingers she spoke to him, her icy shards penetrating his consciousness. “Take Iris into the wastelands and kill her.  Set her alight and return with her flaky, grey, and all too smelly ashes.”

The henchman was relieved, he was tired of all the gush clogging the boards, and jealous that Iris’s ass had become more coveted than his own.  He found her and led her to the end of the wastelands. However, along the way Iris’s charm and beauty extinguished the fuel in Pecu’s flamethrower.

He could not bring himself to fulfil the queen’s wishes, so he told her to rum and too neber reburn {run and to never return}.  He fried some butterfly spam on the way back to the tower and presented Pandora with the ashes.

Meanwhile, Iris retrieved her hipflask and took a swig of rum.  She was trying to decipher the meaning of the word neber when she realised she was the princess of typos, and the clutter of letters reformed in her head and their meaning became clear. She ran, she ran, and she ran some more, until she found herself knee-deep in snow.  She was feeling tired and in need of meat when she noticed a cottage up ahead in the distance.  She was comforted by the warmth that greeted her as she entered; feasted on some chicken legs, and then lay down on one of the seven beds to sleep.

It was about half an hour later that the seven dwarfs returned from work.  Doc could smell a woman as soon as he walked through the door {studying the natural aromas of women had been a lifelong quest for him, and at the time this was written he estimated he was about 3% of the way there…}.

“There is a woman here, and there is a 98% probability that she is fine looking, and only a 2% chance she is a Satanist.”
Bashful ed, “YAY!” and headed for the kitchen.
Grumpie looked unimpressed, “This had better be good or I’m gonna cut off my genitals again.”
Happie was pleased by the idea that Grumpie was going to add more nuts to his jar.
Sneezie and Dopie puffed out their chests.
Ahh Chooose your weapon wisely Dopie, this one is mine”
Dopie: “I wonder if she’ll marry me”
Sleepie was recorded as being online for exactly 2.2 minutes…

Doc lifted his nose and flared his nostrils to increase the scent capacity of his receptors and slowly rotated his head until it pointed in the direction of his bedroom.  “This way.”  They shuffled down the hallway and crammed themselves around the bed.  There they stood.

And stared.

She was lovely.  She was the creamy, sweet, chocolate centre of a sour-cherry truffle.  She was opening her eyes…

Moments like this the boys were glad of the countless evenings they had spent practicing their default reactions, and memorising pick up lines.  Sneezie was first to greet her, however in his haste a mild attack seized his words and coated the back of Happie’s neck with an almost fluorescent layer of slime.
“That feels nice” Happie ed, then turned to the women on the bed.  “I better recast anti magic, because it appears you’ve hypnotized me”
Doc was smooth, “Can I have my breath back?”
Dopie: “You have the binding powers just like the dendroids, I simply cannot walk away from you.”
Sleepie stepped forward from the shadows and whispered, “Do you like sleeping? Me too! We should do it together sometime.”
Sneezie wiped his nose on Dopie’s sleeve and reached for her honkhonks, “Oh, I'm sorry, I thought that was a Braille nametag.”
Bashful pulled him back just in time, winked at her and offered her a cupcake.
She sat up, took it from him and laughed, “You guys are so funny!”

And so Iris moved into the cottage with the seven dwarfs and the animals in the forest mused that they had never heard so much laughter.  Grumpie’s genitals remained attached, and the scent of baking cupcakes became a permanent fixture in the valley.

Until Pandora discovered, through her mirror, of Iris’s whereabouts.  She dressed as an old woman and went to visit her – enticing her to eat a poisoned t-bone.  The laughter ceased as Iris slipped into a coma, was preserved in a rose-petal laden coffin, and placed upon a mountain to sleep in peace.

A few years later, a Prince from an other world came into the valley and saw Iris’s face beneath the glass lid of her coffin.  He was instantly smittened and pried the lid off, the golden ball he was carrying fell from his hand and landed on her torso.  Her eyes opened and she beamed, “Shiny.”

Well that's it for the eighth round. Although this portion of the show was twice as long (2 weeks), I believe that it has paid off many times over! All 5 contestants came out with amazing showcases of their ever-growing talents, but now we'll just have to see if the voters agree with me.

Anyways, the deadline for contestants to Post their talents passed a little over an hour ago, so they will NOT BE ABLE TO EDIT FROM THIS POINT ON in order to keep things fair & even until Sunday night @ 23:59, Eastern Standard Time. Hello everyone and welcome to the 9th round of HC's Got Talent!

There will be a "Special Guest Appearance" this week, so make sure to read through the whole Post to see who I am talking about and to enjoy their talent as well.

Last round, I said: "just imagine what everyone will have to show-off in 2 weeks from now...it should be mind-blowing!" Well, I think that I should start a new career as a fortune-teller because it sure was! The level of quality and finesse that we saw in the last round was like none other before. Every contestants' entry might have been different than the others', but they were all similar in their excellence. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I just can't wait to see what they will showcase this week.

The 48 hour window for HC members to vote for their favourite performers officially closed a few hours ago and the results are in! Although, we did not surpass the previous round's amazing total of votes, we came pretty darn close. And the nice thing that I noticed about the results from last week, is that there is a great variety of HC members weighing in on "Who has the most/best talent". When you add the growing number of ex-contestants that continue to participate by joining in on the voting, to the faithful voters that have been sending me their ballots from the very beginning, and to the voters that come & go from round to round, you really get the sense that people are judging this competition and its contestants on their skills and not by their reputation or whatever. So, to all of you who are making this contest into something with real integrity, I want to sincerely say THANK YOU!

Ok...now let's get to those results that I mentioned!
*Things returned a bit to normal last round as we had more than one Top Vote-receiving Contestant...we had 2. They are:
FriendOfGunnar (for the 2nd time) & Kookastar (for the 2nd week in a row & 5th time so far)!

While their showcases might seem vastly different on the surface, they are more alike than you might first realize. You see, he put together a great work of art using old tools and she put together a hilarious story using an old fairytale. Regardless of the similarities that I might be able to find in both of their methods or their showcases' content, there is no denying the fact that they both stepped-it-up last round and earned many votes in the process. Congratulations!

*As for the other 3 contestants, it seems that things are either not going to be returning to normal anytime soon or that we will have to redefine what "normal" is. You see, for the second round in a row there will only be one contestant at risk of elimination and, therefore, eliminated. I believe that as the total number of contestants diminishes, there will be less room for them "in the middle". Eventually, it will come down to either being the winner of HC's Got Talent or the contestant with the least amount of votes.

Anyways, please join me in giving this contestant a warm send-off from the show by saying THANK YOU for your persistence and constant improvement.

It's undeniable that William has left an impression on many of us, and on HC itself, by composing and playing over 1 hour of his unique music. And somehow, I don't think that we've heard the last of his creations. Either way, I hope that we'll continue to hear from him as a voter, if not as a contestant. Goodbye William, and keep your head up high.

*Before I open the next round, I would like to introduce the "Special Guest" that I mentioned earlier. Some of you might have seen him Posting around HC for the last few months or looking into this Thread on a regular basis; but when he gave me a sample of his own talent, I knew that it had to be shared with everyone at HC. Although he prefers not competing in this contest, I couldn't think of a better place for him to "show his stuff".

So, please join me in welcoming Karashan and his talent of singing/songwriting/production/engineering/arraging.

Wasn't that just smooth? I for one am glad that he isn't a contestant!

*On that note, I declare that the next round is officially open!

*The remaining 4 contestants now have until Friday night @ 23:59 EST (of this week) to showcase their talents in a single Post, in this Thread. Remember, they can either keep going with the same talent or change to a new one at any time.
Things are getting so close to the Finale that I can practically taste it! And it goes without saying that the remaining contestants have really created a precedent for themselves that will make them have to work harder than ever to surpass their previous showcases. The good thing about all of this pressure being put on them is that the viewers benefit from the continuously rising quality.

That being said, I'd like to say thank you to the contestants left in the competition for sharing their great 8th round performances with us all and to the voters for casting their ballots based on the talents that they are seeing & hearing. Good luck to my fellow contestants with their upcoming performances and have a good week everyone!

I had alot of fun in this contest and I wish all the 4 of you the very best

Good luck.

This is the long-awaited Joe Cocker video! So now it's yours to enjoy!

I want to apologize for the bad quality, especially quality of the sound. It skips terribly for half a min or more which is very agitating but if you play the song seperately, you can see why I make the moves and that they WERE to the beat (most of the times, hehe).

Thank you for watching and for voting!! I keep on doing these because you guys keep on voting for me. :-)

-----------

I want to ask Leo now if I pass to the next stage of the contest to give us 2 weeks to prepare. We are very few people left and I want to give my best. Unfortunately this requires many many hours of excercise at home after work (for each minute of dance you see here I have worked at least 10 hours). Moreover it requires a friend over my house being camera girl and I only have this opportunity on weekends.

I really need 2 weeks to prepare. I hope the other participants would agree with me.

I might not have had 2 weeks to prepare this time, but I believe my 9th Round entry for HC's Got Talent is still one of my best. I have 2 different things to present to all of you, the first being another piano compilation (0.8 MB), but with signing! This entry will showcase a variety of french & english nursery rhymes & lullabies that I have been singing all my life; but just recently taught myself to play on the piano. I hope that you like them as much as my daughter, Emma, does.

The second part of my showcase is a parody of Bohemian Rhapsody (2.4 MB) that I recorded using a MIDI tune that I found on the internet & altered lyrics that I found here. Thanks TheUltimateMale!

I decided to continue using MP3 files as I found there was only a minor reduction in quality compared to a major reduction in size. I also have my files available using another service, in case the links above do not work. So, click here if you could not hear my nursery rhymes & lullabies and click here if you could not hear my parody of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy my talent showcase for this round and decide to VOTE FOR ME!

Here's a house that I designed.

In the front of the house is a fountain, where you can sit down and write poems or draw.  Once you go inside the main double doors you'll enter the main hall, which is an art gallery.

The backyard is actually a pond.  If you go down to the bottom floor you'll find a landing where you can take a boat out and go fishing in the pond.

Up on the roof is a garden, although it looks like it's overgrown with weeds now.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the 10th round of HC's Got Talent!

I would like to apologize for the delay in getting this Results Post "broadcast", as there was technical difficulties that prevented me from getting online until now (i.e. switched Internet Providers and had to deal with 3 different Technical Support agents )

It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who will be eliminated this week; but in case you've been living under a rock, we're going to tell you anyways. Before we get to that, however, we still have some results from this weekend to take care of first. While there was significantly less voting activity by the "viewing audience" last round, it was still nice to see the votes being spread out between the remaining contestants. Don't get me wrong, the distribution of votes was in no way even between them, but they were surely all well represented.

So, what do you say if I jump right in and share these results with you? Alright then, let's do it!
*First of all, congratulations are in order for our Top 2 Vote-receiving Contestants:
Lady_Milena (for the 6th time) & myself (for the 3rd time)!

People really enjoyed our artistic presentations of song & dance and rewarded us in turn with their votes.

*Now to the issue of the 2 other contestants. As Heidi Klum says on her show Project Runway, one of them is in and the other is out. Well, considering that FriendOfGunnar shared a greatly detailed drawing with us and Kookastar was unable to showcase anything, it is pretty obvious who will be eliminated.

*So, please join me in saying goodbye to one of HC's most talented members, Kookastar. "Good riddance!" ... "Out with the old and in with the new!" ... "We're better off!" These are all expressions that do not apply to Kookastar's departure from our show. I don't know about everyone else, but I am grateful for having witnessed her creative genius in action and consider myself lucky to have seen her amazing story-telling and picture/play-doh manipulation skills. There was none other like her in this contest and it will be difficult to fill the void that her departure has created.

Hopefully we will not have seen the last of her, though, and she will decide to grace us with an encore. Either that, or she will continue to influence HC's Got Talent with her votes...instead of her great showcases.

*On that note, I declare that the next round is officially open!

*The remaining 3 contestants now have until Friday night @ 23:59 EST to showcase their talents in a single Post, in this Thread. Remember, they can either keep going with the same talent or change to a new one at any time.
Ok everyone, this is it. This is the last round before the GRAND FINALE! Who will find themselves in the head-to-head battle to determine which HC member has the most/best talent? Will it be the hip-shaking & head-turning Lady_Milena, the artistically gifted FriendOfGunnar, or me...the silly song singer? It all depends on the votes and those who cast them.

Once again, I'd like to thank the contestants left in the competition for their great 9th round performances and the voters for casting their ballots...despite the obvious elimination. Good luck to my fellow contestants with their upcoming performances and have a good week everyone!

Until then, take care everybody!

My 10th Round entry for HC's Got Talent is undoubtably my best so far. I got the idea of what to showcase after I was shopping on November 1st and heard Christmas music playing in the mall and saw some adds for Christmas products in the weekly flyers. I'm all for Christmas Spirit, but when I heard that music playing and read those flyers a single day after Halloween, I thought to myself: "I can't believe that stores are already pushing us to start buying stuff for Christmas!"

I tried to resist their advertising for as long as possible, but I have realised that I can use this whole scenario to my advantage. As the saying goes: "If you can't beat them, join them." So, I am showcasing three musical elements this time; the first being a parody of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (0.6 MB) that I put together using a MIDI tune that I found on the internet & altered lyrics that I wrote here. {Use this link to access the back-up file, if needed.}

The second part of my showcase is another piano compilation
(0.6 MB) that I taught myself to play from scratch. {Use this link to access the back-up file, if needed.} It consists of 2 different songs, but I sing the 2nd one twice...first in english, then again in french.

The third and final part of my showcase is a parody of The 12 Days of Christmas (1.5 MB) that I recorded using an internet MIDI tune & altered lyrics that I wrote here. {Use this link to access the back-up file, if needed.} On this recording, you will hear my daughter (Emma) accompany me for a brief...but hilarious...part of the song.

I want to thank everyone who has voted for me throughout this competition so far, as I never really expected to make it this far. Your votes have not only rewarded and supported me, but they have actually motivated me to push myself and take my talents to levels I never knew they could go. I hope to make it through to the GRAND FINALE, where I plan on showing off my Mixed Martial Arts fighting skills in a video montage and wrap up my signing talent with an original song parody. My fate is in your hands now HC members, please VOTE FOR ME!

I have to admit that of all my entries so far this has been the most problematic one. If you've never heard of Finagle's Law, here it is, posted for you. If things can go wrong, they will, at the worst possible moment. This indeed stands true.

For this week I had planned a new choreography. I had exactly one week to choose the music, think of the choreography, rehearse it, then film it. While it sounds easy like Sunday morning for a non-professional working girl it's quite a challenge. Anyways, I had my idea fleshed out until today and today was the big day to film the deed after work. Well fine but tell that to my camera. I have only one set of functional batteries and for technical reasons, mostly having to recharge the batteries every 15 mins, card full and what not, the filming was over at 3.30 am my time. Even if I don't pass to the next round, I can gladly pat myself on the shoulder for the strong will to stay up so late and dance for 5 hours straight (almost).

With this said, you are now free to watch my new entry! Be warned it's 4-30 min video clip! I hope you're going to enjoy it. :-)

Keep voting for me! Should I pass to the final, I will present you, voters and HC members with something you can't see elsewhere. Let me just say that most seasoned professional bellydancers do not dare perform this kind of dance. To give you a little hint, it is going to include all three objects on the picture.

Well that's it for the tenth round. Considering that they only had a single week to put it all together, I believe that all 3 contestants have showcased great things for everyone to see & hear. The deadline for them to have Posted their talents just passed and they will NOT BE ABLE TO EDIT FROM THIS POINT ON; in order to keep things fair & even until Sunday night @ 23:59, Eastern Standard Time.

Remember, this is the final vote before the GRAND FINALE! Choose who you will support wisely and please keep doing so with the integrity that we have seen throughout this entire contest. And once your decision is made, VOTE OFTEN to make it count! Rest assured that if you don't vote for your contestant of choice multiple times, someone else will probably be doing it for another contestant.

HC members, including those already eliminated, you are now free to vote for your favourite "performer" AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WISH. Just send me IMs or emails and I'll have the results posted in this Thread in around 48 hours.

With that being said, it's now in your hands voters; let's see who you send to "big leagues"!
REMINDER *Please direct all comments, feedback, questions, or discussion of the talent contest (here).
