Sounds like a bug or something, it shouldn't happen.

I found a strange thing that sometimes you can go across the tiles where you already put  MASK on them. didnt know why, has anybody met the same problem before?

When this happens on my maps it is because I left an "opening" where you can cross diagonally through the mask. Depending on the terrain, these opening can be really hard to see. To make it really safe, I got into the habit of doubling the coverage. I hope the examples below show what I am saying:

                                          XXXXXXXXXX
Double coverage with no openings:     XXXXXX      xxxxxxxx

Single coverage with diagonal openings: XXXXXX      XXXXXXXX
                                              XXXXXX

Thanks, another question, is there a way to add adventure spells to a barbarian with the console? I tried the TeachHeroSpell() function, but it was useless.

Hmm does the "add_all_spells" cheat work?

But first you'll need to enable cheats with by typing "enable_cheats" (without quotes)

That's because Barbarians don't learn adventure spells, they use talismans. I'm pretty sure there was a function dealing with talisman level or something like that. Just check the list and you will find.

I wouldn't bother trying, though - since patch 3.1, Barbarians are totally unable to cast non-Warcry/Talisman spells, and vice versa.

Works fine without the patch, though

Thanks, Fiur, I think I should try it several times first myself instead of asking such a noob question.

Does anyone know how to create smooth flat dungeon walls with underground maps?  Every time I use the 3x3 Lower tool it creates walls with rough stoney edges.  For example... In the Zehir Campaign I think its map #3 or #4 where you have a quest to capture all the gold mines.  If you look at that map in the editor there is no wall objects yet the walls look smooth and constructed.

Please help if you can.

After you dig the dungeon, use the Crags tool in the editor. You get a choice of several different wall styles. They automatically go around corners and the different styles all fit together nicely.

OK, the tools you mention are all on the Tiles tab. Click on the Craigs tab to see the crags tools. They are labeled Dungeon Wall #1, Dwarven Wall #3, etc.

Thanks alot

I have another problem now.. How do I place objects that are effects on the map?  For example a Flaming object that I can see on other maps is not in my object list.  There are many different objects that I see on other maps that are not in that list and they seem to be like effects but they are actual objects on the map and not coded effects from scripts.  I can copy them from another map but I wondered how I could find them in the editor to place myself rather than loading other maps and doing the copy/paste.

The objects you are referring to are likely "custom made" objects that were created by the map maker by altering the shared properties of the object.

CAUTION: When you alter the shared properties of an object, you are altering those properties for all instances of that object on your map and any other map you have in your Maps folder that includes those objects. Also, you will contaminate the Maps in any other player who places your map in his or  her Maps folder. There is a safe way to alter the shared properties of an object. This safe method is described in detail on the Celestial Heavens map maker's forum by Grumpy Old Wizard (and others). I forget exactly where it is, but you should able to find it with a search using Grumpy Old Wizard as criteria.

Well this thread is a nice short guide about how to create 'custom' objects without affecting the other maps in your game.

Thanks again for the quick reply.. The objects I am refering to are from the campaign maps.  For example the firewall in the Zehir campaign.  When I open the map its an object I can move.  This is just one example. I can copy this firewall object from the map onto mine and nothing seems corupted.

It is fun to make your own custom objects. Look through the thread that Asheera gave you. You will find it is not that hard to do. Then, take a look at the properties of the flaming object to see how they did it. H5 allows you to customize the game more than any previous HOMM, but it does take a bit of study and work to learn how. Good luck and keep on trying. You are off to a good start.

The thing is Im not trying to make any custom objects Im just trying to use the AdvMapStaticShared objects.  I can see them in the list but I can't add them to my map.  All I can see is their name in the Game Database window.
