I have a suggestion as well: could mapmakers make it standard practice to indicate in the map name weather the map is compatible with HoF expansion or at least when the map gets listed on ToH maps page put an indication of compatibiliy there? It gets frustrating searching through all this map clutter, downloading maps, changing name, etc....only to find that map is not compatible with HoF. Would be greatly appreciated

Hehe I think since 2.1 all maps are compatible with HoF. Try it, you'll see it's true.

New Maps

Will repeat it as long i am around here:

H4 was about maps, H5 is about the game
Map editor is so simple that makes us all mapmakers Human random generators

Great isnt it!
Whats not so great is that ppl play all same 2-3 maps

have to say only this to them:
Go be lawyers and quit playing games

Map "Ashes and Sands" has been updated, taking into account HoF and especially patch 2.1.

Link for downloading: Ashes and Sands(HoF)

Basically only couple of changes, just fixed two minor bugs and added some considerations regarding balance between different towns (mainly my mind was troubled with Fortress and patch 2.1 Haven)

Minimap:

If anybody needs any additional info regarding this map or has any suggestions, just let me know!

Help with testing my maps...

Help with my maps and cheat codes

Before anyone gets all bent out of shape by the word cheat codes, let me first explain how I have used them in the past.

I mostly play World of Warcraft, but when it's down I create my own maps for my own pleasure in HOMM5 and play them with a friend in France online.

Creating maps, for those who do so, is sometimes a long and tedious process, especially when playing your own map to look for bugs, glitches and other problems.

I haven't played HOMM5 for about two months, and when I got on today I noticed that there were two new patches for HOMM5 and the expansion HoF (I own both).

I applied the patches and then started the game and wanted to run through a map I had been working on a few months ago.

One of the easiest ways to 'zip' through a map is to play it in single player (even if it is a multiplayer map) and use the cheat codes to buff yourself up with experience and creatures so you can zip through the areas you need to check out.

Today when i tried using the codes I've used in the past they seemed to apply but nothing happened; ie. #ChangeHeroStat("NAME", 0, 100000); did not change the heroes stats. #AddHeroCreatures("NAME", #, #); didn't do anything either.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this would happen?

If you are bored at work please respond!

Thanks in advance,

Malgor

Never mind! I guess I was away too long to figure it out!

I was using # command instead of @ command. Only figured that out after I did an entire new reinstall!

So yeah, what to say... It's nice to see ppl gathering around HOMM 5, at least you raise UBI hopes on profits. If i didnt know better id be amazed how easily you all forgot the game that put us all in HOMM world - SOD. I've checked main tournament sites after a few years-you all eraised homm 3 like there was never one to start with. And yeah. what about thousands of ppl that played SOD for like a... DECADE!! If i didnt know better i would have think that you ppl who made tournaments actualy cared for your players. Now these days its i guess up to someones head (like always before)how and what should online HOMM world be. So you traded this new HOMM for originaly best one, proven to be best game ever made. Now you al lsit and sigh waiting for new..patch... almost - funny. So how is it these days, can you guys actualy FINISH a game you start, or how does those "big maps" that you walk over in 3 days seem to you? And yeah out of thousands of fans that been meeting each other in SOD, how many of them you see now these days? I mean other than handfull? I know one thing tho and that is that whoever you ppl are here and on toh - you dont represent real down in bone homm players including you Vesuvius - big diss. Have a nice day yall

Even though i can understand where u coming from all i can say is YOUR VERY WRONG , What do you expect to be done? keep homm3 alive forever? your living in the past man , homm3 was a GREAT game i enjoyed playing it few years on toh but every thing gotta end sometime after a few years of playing homm3 the thrill of the game slowly dies compared to how it was when it was new and fresh , If ves woulda keep a homm3 tourny i might not have moved to homm5 and good he did so Because when i play homm5 now i get that same sense of good fresh fun new tactics run in my head and exploring the game is still possible, as to your sarcastic remark about homm problems well now they probably fixed but yes your right the homm community was unlucky for such a money greeding developer (meaning ubi not nival ) .
we don't see many of the old homm players because they much like you can't adjust to changes little do they know what they missing out on
If you woulda given homm5 a chance you woulda see that its a great game , better then homm3? who's to compare those 2 great games.. all i know is i'm enjoying myself here so you are defently wrong, homm3 time has past ,get over it

Dead Man's Lake has been UPDATED TO v2.1

Dead Mans Lake version 2.1

Chages:

- Monoliths leading from town to gold mine are 1-way only (the biggest change), this really lenghtens the way from your town to your opponent's, therefore rush strategies will be less effective.

- Artifact near Dead Man's Lake bridge is no longer relic, but major. It was a little to easy to get a powerful artifact that way, and besides there were already too many relics all over the map.

- Some monsters along the 3rd, longest way (requiring yellow key) have been weakend (level 5 instead of 6), so that a decent secondary hero can actually try to kill them and take artifacts.

- Utopia is now extacly in the center (previously it was a little closer to blue, because red had one day advantage, but that ended with introduction of sim turns. Now it's usually blue who gets the advantage of extra day free movement)

- bunch of other minor tweaks
