I don't get this statement either... what's wrong with the interface?  Seems easy to use to me...

I hate it, I hate the 3d...hate the rotational camera. Hate the fact that you cant access parts of the map without rotatng the camera or scrolling the screen to the exact position to pick something up. I double click my destination with my hero and he goes nowhere, I try it again and he goes nowhere...maybe on the 4th or 5th attempt the guy will actually move. There are always big trees or cave walls in the way. Load times are astronomical, even on my 2.8ghz 1.5gb ram system with latest 256mb card. The randoms are crap...there are bugger all arties, the sim turns are ridiculous (look to AoW for inspiration) and there are much better games out there to play. Thats about it.

Heroes unfortunately for me will always be about H3. The rest have failed in my eyes.

Perfect... this system is great to play alone, but for multiplayer its just a big waste of time.. Heroes 6.. bring the old format of heroes 3 back and you will have successs

I guess my perspective is different, since I also play games like Supreme Commander, Command & Conquer, Battle for Middle Earth and other RTS games that use very similar interfaces.  True, you need a more powerful system -- but consider that practically any first person shooter and RTS game has even greater system requirements.  But I understand, that for turn based gamers, they tend to have older systems.

I dont really play FPS's so I guess thats true. Civ 4 does run beautifully in single and multi simultaneous turns...even when its using 600000k of memory. I dunno that H5 was built all that well to begin with.

Ya Civ4 runs perfect with you, too bad your turns are so godawful long it still feels like you're on a Comodore 64 for your opponent (which sadly was me about 95% of ur games)

did somebody mention civ 4 ? :)

great game, but yes, without a real good comp the turn times against a comp oponent are crazy long in the later parts of a game, hoping this changes when i get my new box, oooo cann't wait. i'll finally be able to find out for myself how good or bad homm 5 is online and maybe i'll be able to play a large world finally in civ4  woo wooo

You can try playing on small maps..or even tiny and the turns arent bad. i love to play on xlarge and yeah....it locks bad on those.

small map with lots of leaders is more fun than i thought cause you have to plan your cities better..you cant just toss them out there.

also you dont end up with this sprawling empire and then suddenly remember this city you forgot about for 1000 years or so

concerning basketball

great game basketball. was invented right here in Canada, only prob. was there wasn't enough mutatedly tall individuals to play it up here so the Americans sort of grabbed the ball and ran with it so to speak

A H3 tournament?
Well count me out, Ive gone and gotten maried and have a 4 month old, who wouldnt like me staying up all night playing 2vs2, which I probably would in a heartbeat, eh Titan
But if you can bring back Eliogabalus, I guess I would have too, since I still havent beaten him in fest.

Glad to see your all still alive.

Unfortunatley I find you extremely annoying because everything you say has absolutley no purpose or meaning.. yet I still read it and have to respond.. besides basketball, how about chess? such an old good game, you probably wonder why they don't upgrade it to get into modern times.. Well I'll tell you why, because theres nothing to upgrade, theres no reason to upgrade, new strategies are still being formed today.. If somethings not broken don't fix it.. Heroes 3 was not perfect but it was definatley not broken, H4 and H5 were for greedy people to make some money because people like insatiable HAVE to get the new games...

If H3 comes back I do too, along with 2 of my friends i'm sure of that.

And Instatiable, are you getting permission to post peoples pictures up here? As far as i'm concerend you are doing it illeagly, although I don't know all the laws, but If i was that guy in the picture you just posted I would not be very happy with you.

You are permitted to play H3 for toh.. you are permitted to play h4 for toh.. you can play h5 for toh.. or you can play any and all of these for fun.

What is stopping people from doing so? Seriously please enlighten me as to why this topic has to be hashed out time and time again "if H3 were to come back?"
You don't need a big fancy tournament to play a game you love. Sure it makes it a little more fun to see your stats building and stuff but its not required.

Furthermore comparing a computer game as great as it is/was to something like basketball or chess is well.. unreal.  And for the record they have on a number of occasions tried to upgrade or "update" chess and it has flopped.  RE holodeck type games, battlechess, computer versions.. but nothing beats the good old board and figure set.
And to say that basketball is the same game as it was 50 years ago or however long it has been around is complete stupidity.  That game has changed and evolved with the times just as every major sports game has.

I wonder if back in 1956 or something we had basketball players wearing running shoes with big pumps to fill them up with air pockets.  Hmm I guess not.

in conclusion.. PLay H3 if you want Play H4 if you want.. Play H5 if you want.. but for gods sake STFU!

What I am saying is that toh does support H3 currently, in the main rankings.

I would love to play some H3 games.  and I am sure that as more and more games became reported it would make more sense for Ves to put up a sub tournament, alternately I havn't seen anyone suggesting they would volunteer to run a sub tourney for H3 either.

I wonder how many games have actually been reported for toh since they allowed H3 to be played.  I know I have reported 1 H3 game.  But like I said I'd gladly play more.

You didnt get the point here I guess Destro.

It wasn't about comparing a computer game with a kind of sport or chess. It was about the fact "Only if it is old, it doesn't mean it is bad". Because this is the statement some "I always go with the new fashion" players bring up when it comes to H3...and that's kind a boring...

look guys, I've been playing homm since king's bounty, and homm1.  I love heroes, part of my soul is attached to this game.  But I do love homm5 more than all the others, even though the feeling of nostalgia from homm1,2, and 3 isn't there.  So for me I cannot comprehend the anti-homm5 sentiment from homm3 players, except for those who don't have computers that meet the system requirements.
