Well, in response to your song, then, I think it has some quite good points. You make another type of music than what I normally listen to, but I actually think you have a very good sense for melody crafting, and that's something you should try to become even stronger in.
To give an example, your song here has what I consider the typical approach for electronical music, i.e. you have some underlying score on to which you add more and more layers. I think that's a fine approach, but sometimes this building up and up also gives the feeling that the song "moves" all the time, where it might be good to have it "rest" a bit more in itself to give a feeling of continuity.
Halfway through this song you sort of change to an alternative path, but what I really think would lift this song is if you returned to the original melody again - an obvious point to do this would be at the 2:40 clock mark. This would bring you closer to the traditional pop song approach, i.e. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-verse-chorus. The point of this approach will be to underscore the central melodic element and make a more consistant impression of the song.
Now as I think you know, I listen to a lot of pop music (if also some rock). Pop music is often disregarded in many circles, but I think to write a REALLY good pop tune, you need to be at least as skilled as to write any other song. To write a pop tune with lasting quality, you need to find a core melody line that is sufficiently simple to get to the listener and stay with him, but at the same time avoid to become annoying. That's a fine line to walk!
I think what you need to do is try to simplify your melody, to make it more well defined, in order for the listener to actually remember it. I know you don't put work to your songs, but imagine you did - you need a melody that's substantial enough for people to actually remember it when they're going to sing it.
Of course not all kinds of music are like that, a lot of classical music hasn't got a defining melody in the same way, but this is what I feel would improve your songs. You deffinitely do have a good understanding of melodic elements, so I deffinitely would recommend you to work with that.
Just my 5 cents.

I don't seem to find anything to complain about from Jupiter Rising. Which means you're too good making these things nowadays for a layman like me to even regognise the misteps if there even is any.

Just listened to it while browsing, is more 'beatish' and I like the start drum and your choice in drums for this one, sound a bit 'bigger' (well that could be because soundtracks have 'big drums' and I am accustomed to them more).

By far one of the better songs of yours, I only listened half of it when I started posting this (probably it ends when I finish typing the reply )
It starts ambientish, calming like new-age type... but then it becomes more powerful, but absolutely not harsh at all. (not that harsh doesn't fit certain moods, just not peaceful soothing ambient)
plus I love the pads/strings you used, so calming to the ears.
